Affiliation: None
Power(s): Blessing of Ice
History:
A few years before the Unification War, there was a gray fox named Granite in Moonfall. Though he was only an ice and stone carver, he began having prophetic dreams. He found it impossible to ignore them, so he stole the moon piece his people worship. He took is further north to the mountain where he carved it into a statue based on the figure in his dreams.
After the people of Moonfall took Granite away, the light of the moon fell over the statue. The elemental residing in the cyan Sol Emerald, which had been lost to the world after the Ancient War, used the power within the moon fragment and their own power to bring the statue to life as a deer with white fur and cyan accents.
Immediately upon their birth, the statue had little knowledge of the world. They took the emerald with them as they searched for life. They came upon Moonfall in the hours leading up to a decision about Granite's fate being made.
Immediately, they were revered as the Moonchild. Since Granite was the one to carve them, they stayed with him and Slate. Their friendliness helped the Moonchild feel as if the three of them were a family.
As the Moonchild was settling, the tribe was sent word from the forming empire in the south. After refusing to join several times, soldiers marched into Moonfall to forcibly take it. The ensuing battle led to Slate's death. With his dying breath, Slate gave the Moonchild a real name: Polaris, the guiding star.
After witnessing their brother's death, Polaris awakened to his blessing. He froze everything around him, including himself and Slate.
Hundreds of years later, Eggman NEGA was looking for the 'destined destroyer' in a prophecy left behind by the prisoner Granite to the Sol Empire's first emperor. This led to him melting the ice in the northern mountains and freeing Polaris. Upon showing the deer the last message of his foster father, Polaris agreed to destroy the empire.
To pull this plan off, Polaris needed to steal the Sol Emeralds. He attacked when Blaze was holding a ceremony. In their ensuing battle, he managed to snag the cyan emerald before Blaze enacted a spell that scattered the emeralds to the far corners of the world.
As Polaris was searching for the emeralds, Blaze and Marine were also working towards finding them, and in their pursuits, they discovered more about the Unification War. Blaze was not aware how gore the war had been, and she never knew about the massacre of Moonfall.
Polaris gathered enough emeralds to activate a device left behind by Lyric the Last Ancient. It was the device that initially brought down the moon fragment that his people worshipped, but now Polaris was going to bring the entire moon down to destroy the empire.
He managed to activate the device. He and Blaze had a heart-to-heart before she drew together the power of the Sol Emeralds to achieve her burning state. Reeling from Blaze's apology, Marine convinced Polaris to join Blaze. He eventually did, achieving a freezing state alongside her. Together, they used their combined power to put the moon back into place.
It took all of Polaris' energy, however, and he crashed back down to the ground. As what happened centuries ago, the wanderers of the northern mountains gathered around the fallen moon fragment. They nursed Polaris back to full health. He stuck around, and with his protection, the people settled down to create a new tribe separate from the Sol Empire: Snowfall.
