re2make making everyone question “how ada survived that fall” ill tell you: they thought her falling to her death was more dramatic than her dying after mr x launched her into machinery, and didnt care enough to explain it despite making her falling death make even less sense in the remake

The way I see it, I always thought her surviving after apparently dying in Leon’s arms was LESS believable than her surviving a long fall. At least with the Disney “Death”, we never see a body, so who knows what broke her fall.

Nah her passing out from blood loss and being mistaken for dead makes way more sense than falling into the abyss especially since we know she doesn't have her hookshot at that point. Also RE2R could've copied Darkside Chronicles version of Ada's "death" saving Leon from Mr X , she still gets slammed into the control panel but isn't actively bleeding. 2R isn't exactly shy about copying Darkside Chronicles in other instances, they may as well have lifted that too, certainly would've been more fitting way to have Mr X mutate rather than just getting super wide because of a boiler(?) explosion.

I mean, if we look at it from the perspective of Movie Logic, characters come back from falling into bottomless abysses so often that viewers often question if they’re really dead unless they see a body.

Besides, I can buy the self-destruct making it hard for Leon to find a pulse, but surely he’d see her chest rising and falling if she was just unconscious.

Plausibility aside, though… honestly, I’ve always found Ada’s sendoff in Leon A/2R was WAY more narratively satisfying than her exit in Leon B: Betraying Leon - but being unable to pull the trigger - gives us some actual payoff to her being a spy, and I think it makes for a MUCH more dramatic ending that better explains Leon’s mistrust for her in RE4.

Even movie logic wise it's still bad, usually if someone falls from a great height in a movie and survive its explained that they plummeted into water or foliage, Ada is falling into a chasm of rock. While I do like the original bridge confrontation in og re2 because it shows Ada's conflicted feelings and has Leon realise Annette was telling the truth, he still fully trusts her and knows she won't harm him, he doesn't even need to aim his gun at her, her gun isn't even loaded. Honestly Leon's distrust of Ada in og RE4 comes across as more due to her working with Wesker then anything else because Ada doesn't need to use Leon to accomplish everything for her in the original game.

The B scenario is more important to Ada's arc and how Leon's selfless behaviour changes her, she has the g sample, her mission is complete she could ditch him and escape but she doesn't because she cares about his safety and knows it's unfair for him to be caught up in the horrors of the outbreak. So she sacrifices herself to not only pay him back but because it's the right thing to do, even though it goes against her mission which Umbrella Chronicles highlights. Both versions of RE4 and RE6 show Ada's growth as a person and it doesn't fit the A scenario because she never has that moment of selflessness and altruism Ada will then go on to repeat in later games. Also the B scenario is were they kiss and it is not some shitty manipulation tactic by Ada, it's completely sincere. Like what does she learn from the bridge confrontation really? It really only benefits Leon but even then barely, he's a government agent by re4 and he knows she survived because she gives him the rocket launcher, him being distrustful of her is already believable once he confirms she's working for Wesker. Like there's a reason Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles chose the B scenario and why RE6 directly references it. 2R doesn't even have Ada's theme or One Last Kiss but 4R does like wtf is that about???

I fucking hate 2R's awful writing and this only scratches the surface.

I'm a little late but happy birthday to Metroid Prime and Metroid Fusion. Both games were released originally on the same day in north America which is honestly kinda crazy.
