Something that flips me off about Education

In the western world you tell kids: be creative, compete against yourself, you are the person we (teacher) have to tailor our lessons to.... And then u give them a standardized test which literally screams: REGURGITATE EVERYTHING YOUR TEXTBOOK STATED AT ONE POINT... In my opinion its sort of lying to the kids, telling them they can "learn at their own pace" but then suddenly telling them that the rest of the world is not going to wait for them. The kids that realize this too late either have an existential crisis cuz they want to do well or just give up, do drugs or stg. Then on the asian spectrum of things we have the teachers who due to socio-economic pressures tell the kids the truth and implement it. This results in high academic standard, but also higher suicide rates cuz the real pressures of society are too much for them to handle. So which way is the right way?
