Person: What's your book about?
Writers:
I'm both somehow 🙃
It doesn’t say when this will be published on the site? What is your timeline (only timeline I see is for contributors
Hi! We just posted an update on the Kickstarter page itself, which you can find here! I hope it answers all of your questions ^^ https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/greykinpress/in-the-neck-of-the-woods-a-camping-themed-horror-anthology
Hi, I am a young writer and have started writing a story that I hope becomes a book. I just wanted to ask if you have any tips for writing stories and books?
One thing I can say is write for yourself. Writing for others/market is a big cause of burnout. I mean what’s the fun in writing something that isn’t fun for you? I’ve had to literally force myself to write something before and it isn’t worth it.
Second, whether you’re a plotter, panster, or planster, I feel like it’s always good to have at least some plot notes written down to refer to. It’s very easy to get lost in what you’re writing and if you go too deep, it’s hard to find your way back to the path.
Third, don’t compare yourself to other writers. Everyone is on their own path, have their own ideas and methods, and work and their own pace. Find what works for you and stick to it.
Also, don’t push yourself. If something isn’t working, it’s okay to delete it and start again. It’s okay to rewrite a scene or chapter 15 times. However, a lot of people say not to stress too much about your first draft. Vomit words if you have to. That’s what editing is for. Get your story down first before you start obsessing over the way things are worded 😅
I hope this was helpful!
Kickstarter is LIVE
The kickstarter for my book- Sword of the Voivode- is live and will run until February 29th.
The synopsis:
Cyril Valentin believed he'd left his old life behind when he ran away so he could live freely as a New Man. When a former suitor attempts to murder the entire ruling family of Vodomeria- including Cyril- he must choose whether to return to the safety of self imposed exile or journey home to face both his would-be murderer and his estranged family.
Concerned for his young half brother, Cyril undertakes the journey into the heart of his homeland with his lover Daumantas- an ogre with secrets of his own. Dodging agents of the rival house Zhupensken, the two men have their fledgling romance tested as they navigate a realm in disarray as well as the secrets they've been keeping from one another. In order to restore peace to the realm, Cyril must come to terms with his past as the Dueling Princess of Vodomeria and face the men who saw him as a prize to be won.
Can Cyril set aside his complex feelings and locate his family before the Zhupensken agents that wish to do them harm? Will his relationship with Daumantas endure as both men reveal hidden sides of themselves?
The Sword of the Voivode is the first book in the Heirs of Finndrigair series and is an adult Fantasy novel about a transgender adult confronting his complex past and familial estrangement in order to forge a better future for himself and those around him.
What I'm trying to achieve: I want to have this book fully finished by June of this year. The only thing holding me back is monetary. This is where the Kickstarter speeds up the timetable- it helps me cover the various costs at the end part of this process, AND you get the book before the rest of the public!
An adventure fantasy novel about a transman confronting his past, falling in love, and saving his homeland.
Why did I write this book?
I really like more action-y fantasy, and there just isn't much in that vein right now with queer characters as the main protagonists. I'd also like to see more trans characters in a wider array of books... But in this case, it means WRITING those books myself!
I've also managed to assemble an all trans team for the book! So I'm not the only transgender person benefiting from it's completion and sale. Gabriel Hargrave is an incredible writer in his own right, and N.A. Melamed is an incredibly talented artist who will make a cover that far surpasses anything I could do on my own! Supporting the campaign means supporting them as well!
Check out this Kickstarter for an awesome queer book!
The allure of AI entices those people who fetishize ideas but dismiss the work. They're the people who tell writers, "I'll give you the idea, then you write it, and we'll split the profits." For them, the vision is everything, and the work is just an annoying obstacle. But the WORK is everything. The work is how a thing happens, where it's made, where skill is put to work. AI in creativity is for the people who have no skill, no work, no effort, no ethic. They just want to push a button.

Alucard (Aleksei) was born into the Diabolus, a cult of witches, humans and demons who worship Lucifer as their god. Alucard's mother, Charlotte Reiner, was a Meridian, a very powerful witch in possession of Numen ethos. His creation was solely for the purpose of freeing Lucifer from his prison, but Damien intervened, condemning Lucifer to remain locked away forever, and Alucard to a life of depravity.
