She heard the click of the door behind her and turned to see . But too her surprise there was no door there . She looked around , she was on a tall green hill with a stone staircase leading down, in the distance was a village. Lizzie walked down the stone steps , her boots clacking each way down . The steps stopped infront of the enterance to the forest . The village wa just behind the forest so if she walked straight ahead she should arrive there in 10 minutes .
While walking through the woods Lizzie noticed how thick the trees were , not much light was getting Into the woods . What a strange place this is , she thought . Perhaps once she gets to the village she can arrange a way for her to make it back to the city , then she could go home and-
Her foot is caught in a branch , it caused her to fall over onto her face
“God if this day couldn’t get any worse “
When she looked over at her foot , she expected a large rock or a root in her way . Instead there was nothing there , but if nothing was there how could she trip? She got to her feet and wiped off the dirt and leaves off their dress and face , her dress , now a mess , had ripped edges and fabric torn , and her face , had mud and dirt on it .
“ oh I just! I just wish this wasn’t happening right now! I wish I was at home with Maddeline and mother and- ah!”
Lizzie was just mumbling too herself when she looked up to see a smiling face back at her, the smiling face had two purple eyes with yellow slits in them while underneath was just on huge , tooth smiling grin. This caused lizzie to fall backwards in surprise . Onto the ground. Again.
The smiling face did a 360 spin before disappearing . Lizzies eyes widened as she scrambled to her feet and quickly looked around
Lizzie looked to where she heard the sound and saw the smiling face on the branch of the tree infront of her . It blinked at her before closing it eyes . Suddenly a body appeared to fit the missing puzzle pieces of the face.
“ I-I can highly assure you I am quite fine”
She looked at the strange person infront of her . They were laying on the branch with an arm holding up their head and the other hanging off the branch . They had bells on their shoes and one on the bow on their chest . They. Also had a tail hanging from the branch with a bow and a bell on it.
and Atop their head was two cat ears . Twitching from the breeze through the woods .
The person disapeared once more and appeared on a branch behind her ,Lizzie spun around quickly . Whatever or whoever this was she didn’t trust it
They laughed for a moment at the question
“ and who may be asking me that question?”
Lizzie hesitated for a moment before she said
“I’m Lizzie . Lizzie kingsleigh “
“ yes. Kingsleigh . Now what about you “
“ what or who do I look like”
Lizzie crossed her arms and grunted . She didn’t know who this was but they were getting on her nerves
“ well you look like a-…. Are you a cat?”
“ I’m not a cat, I’m the Cheshire Cat”
“ is there a difference “
“ only if u think there is “
The Cheshire Cat disappeared again but this time left his smile.
“ now , Lizzie . Where might you be off to ?”
“ I’m heading to the village “
“ and where is the village ?”
“ well the village is …… ”
Lizzie had been walking forward but once talking to the Cheshire Cat she had lost her sense of direction . She has no idea which way to go . God that stupid cat made her lose her way! Now she really was lost .
“ if that is so I will leave you to go then “
His smile disappeared leaving Lizzie alone in the area
The Cheshire Cat appeared right in front of her leaning in front of her face . His big grin still plastered on his face. Lizzie took a sudden step back
“ well that depends where do u want to get to?”
“ I honestly don’t care anymore! Just out of these woods!”
“ well then It doesn’t matter which way you go”
That was it ! This cat had gotten on her last nerve and she was done . He made no sense and hadn’t help her at all . He just asked her questions!
“ if you can’t help me! Do you know someone who can !”
The Cheshire Cat disappeared . He reappeared behind Lizzie again hanging upside down off a branch
“ there is the mad hatter that way”
He pointed in the direction of an opening through the trees .
“ there’s the March hare that way “
He proceeded to point in the opposite direction
Lizzie started to walk in the direction of the March hare but stopped when the Cheshire Cat said
Lizzie turned and groaned
“ I don’t want to be around mad people!”
The Cheshire Cat got up from being upside down and sat up on the branch swinging his tail left and right .
“ oh but everyone’s mad . The hatter .the hare. I’m mad too . And so are you”
Lizzie glared at the cat . She slowly walked up to him till she as right below him
“ how dare you say I’m mad! I am certainly not mad . And I certainly could not say the same for you!”
The Cheshire Cat chuckled, which then turned to laughing . And he didn’t stop laughing until Lizzie got even more annoyed . Before Lizzie could say something else he disappeared . This time not leaving even his smile behind .
“Hmph . Didn’t like that cat anyway “
She mumbled to herself before setting out in one of the two directions the Cheshire Cat pointed out to her.
