Just got fired today, this is my first real job job, for those of you who’ve experienced this what to y’all do?😭
I wanna get into like the Marvel Universe, specifically the Batman stuff (mainly because of Nightwing😛). Where the hell do I start???
I also wanna get into Star Wars as well because I’m reading Dune and it led me into the Starwars universe. There’s so much and idk where to start😭
Edit: I JUST REALIZED I SAID MARVEL UNIVERSE INSTEAD OF DC LMAO😭
On the topic of h20/Mako, did anyone else try those “how to become a mermaid” spells on YouTube?? That shit was ssooo embarrassing looking back, but I was OBSESSED with mermaids when I was younger lol😭
The Mako Mermaids hate is weird…idk about y’all, but as a child who just loved to mermaid shows, I didn’t care. And as an adult who still lives mermaid shows, I still don’t. Like let people enjoy things, you’re not better for liking h20 and hating on Mako and everyone who likes Mako.
Apparently this post got attention which I never expected. I will say nostalgia definitely plays a part in the h20 superiority complex….But I went back and watched them both, and my take is still the same. They’re both on the same level to me, and if I’m being honest I do like the drama in Mako more, like that show had me STRESSED lmao! but hey, it’s all in good fun.
Side note: does anyone remember the animated show that was on Netflix?? That was so fun!
I finished the first book for Dune and I’m currently reading Messiah (I have other thoughts on that). But I think the messaging, specifically when it comes to Herbert’s warnings of worshipping idols.
Dune is not really a story saying “look how cool the chosen one is.” It’s almost the opposite. It’s a warning about what happens when people desperately need saviors.
The Fremen don’t start out “stupid” or blind. They’re oppressed, exploited, surviving on a planet where water scarcity shapes every aspect of life (which I think isn’t spoken about enough, at least that’s what I see when people talk about Dune. Like it’s giving white savior, I know it’s complex but still). So when Paul arrives and begins fulfilling prophecy after prophecy, it feels meaningful, it feels like destiny. But Herbert keeps asking, what happens when belief becomes surrender?
A prophet in Dune isn’t just a religious figure, they become a projection screen for people’s hopes, fears, rage, nationalism, grief, survival instincts, etc. Once that happens, the individual person almost disappears underneath the myth. The really unsettling part is that people are not always acting according to who Paul actually is. They’re acting according to what he represents to them. Muad’Dib becomes a container for projection. And that’s the scariest part, like I remember reading that 60 billion people died in his name, and it didn’t even compute in my brain, and it still kinda doesn’t.
Herbert makes it clear that projection can become more powerful than reality. The symbol absorbs contradiction because people are no longer engaging with a person, they’re engaging with their own emotional/spiritual projections. It removes personally accountability because I’m their mind they “Did it for Muad’Dib”, even though the act itself is horrific. And that very much applies to real life, whether it be celebrity fandoms, political movements, revolutionary movements, nationalism, etc. People project ideals onto public figures until those figures stop functioning as humans and start functioning as emotional infrastructure.
It’s one reason Paul becomes tragic rather than triumphant. He gains enormous power but loses ownership over his own image.
I think it’s soooo fascinating how people want someone to look up to or follow. Especially during instability, people often want someone to base themselves around. A leader, prophet, celebrity, revolutionary, influencer, even fictional archetypes. There’s comfort in attaching yourself to a larger narrative through another person.
Human psychology is really fascinating. Like we fight for freedom and want individuality (or so we say) and yet this is so common. I’m not saying it’s good or bad, I’m making an observation.
So yeah! Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk🧚🏾♂️👁️🕯️

I preferred episode 7 over 8. 8 was fine, but 7 felt…more emotion-ey.
Why would I listen to a non-Black artist trying to imitate Black artists when I can listen to those Black artists???
I love art, but I hate how Eurocentric it is.
And on that topic, Timothèe wasn’t necessarily wrong in the fact ballet and opera are dying art forms. Prior to that comment, the lead up to that is a conversation they were having about attention spans and art. They were talking about how the part of a story where you ground people in the characters and setting, is a dying art form because more and more studios are cutting that out and jumping straight into the action because they don’t believe in the audiences attention spans.
As Matthew McConi (however the fuck you spell his name) said, act 1 barely exist anymore.
And that relates to ballet and opera because these art forms are built upon that role of establishing the characters and setting, leading up to those big payoff moments. And it’s beautiful.
But if we’re being so forreal, the average person does not have the interest you may in these art forms because, or honestly the arts as a whole outside of passively listening to music or watching movies. The way Timmy said that shit wasn’t great and tone is key, and yeah doubling down felt like he was trying to overcompensate. But i ultimately understood regardless because I’m not emotionally invested in this situation lol.
I also think that people are really mad about this because they’re European based art forms, and yes you absolutely have to have so much skill and discipline to do these, but if this was hip-hop, y’all would not be reacting this way…
Speaking of (yes this is a tangent because I can’t shut the fuck up), I’ve only recently gotten into his movies kinda, but as a young Black Woman the way his fans are talking about his “new” style is interesting….the hair, the clothing, all of that. I don’t think that’s the problem, I really think y’all just mad he’s not your “French, indie, quiet” white boy anymore (even tho I think he’s always had an interest in Black culture), the version you projected onto him. It’s that proximity to Blackness that’s making people uncomfortable.
But what do I know, I’m just a random person on the internet. These are just my thoughts, you can disagree. I’m always open to different perspectives, respectfully of course. I don’t like arguing.
Thank You🙃✨
I hate when people believe anything they see on the internet. Like it’s really concerning how often I see people believe this random commenter and then they all jump to hating a person. I often see people ask “so do we like them or not?”….. please think for yourself, do your own research, and if you’re not gonna (which most people don’t care to) stop jumping straight to hating a person when you literally don’t know the facts. As a Gen Z, this generation loves a witch hunt chile….
Also, people literally make shit up all the time about a person they don’t like. It’s insane.
You can hold someone accountable without being extreme. Parasocial hate is just as strong as love. Most people on the internet don’t allow room for growth which is counterproductive, because then what’s the point of a person growing if you’re gonna hate them regardless? Of course there’s exceptions like if you’re just a disgusting person that shows no growth or care, fuck you. But point still stands.
I love art, but I hate how Eurocentric it is.
I wish there was a way to save fics here💔 Like I genuinely don’t wanna scroll through all my likes to find the fic I wanna reread🥀
HATE I CANT SAVE SHIT ON HERE!
The funny thing about joining fandom is discovering your childhood shows have a dedicated fandom…Because what do you mean Wild Kratts has a fandom???

I gotta say, it is a huge letdown to send an ask to one of my favorite writers asking them to be more inclusive with their work in terms of skin color (like not putting the description of a reader’s skin) after reading one of their fics that assigned me features and being met with CRICKET scilence. They already answered several asks from other people which just tells me they completely ignored mine and I just don’t know what’s more disappointing, the fact that they completely ignored me and answered other asks or the fact that I was naive enough to think that they’d actually care. Seriously though if you write reader Insert fan fiction PLEASE don’t put skin descriptions. It’s already hard enough trying to find inclusive material, but it feels absolutely horrible when you see shit like “pale skin” or “blonde hair”. I’m not saying you CAN’T write that, but please realize that not every reader is a white person or has those features. If you’re going to assign the reader an appearance then make it an OC x character, but don’t lull BIPOC into a false sense of security that they’re going to find something that is inclusive and then get slapped in the face with that. It’s literally like a reminder that our features are deemed ‘undesirable’ or ‘not good enough’ because we aren’t white and we deserve to feel comfortable and accepted as who we are. Also, I really don’t want to hear anyone tell me “Well maybe you should look for people who write specifically for BIPOC” , dude nobody should be assigning their readers features in the first place because it is a READER INSERT. Plus when we DO write for BIPOC or make entire blogs for them, we’re driven to either turn anonymous off or just take the whole blog down because of so much hate the writers get for “not being inclusive” but are denied a spot at the table in the first place and are ignored when we ask for one. This is so fucking frustrating. Please just don’t assign your readers features, it might seem insignificant but it means so much to us and if you actually cared about your readers you’d take that precaution.
It’s really frustrating when I’m reading a fanfic or headcannon and I see features such as “blonde hair” or “blue eyes” not that POC can’t have these features it’s just that these are predominantly Caucasian features. If your writing for an ‘X Reader’ please don’t use specific features instead use H/C (hair color) or E/C (eye color). It’s also really hard to find X POC Reader fics, headcannons, etc.
