Nya and Jay are the opposites attract. The girl who feels like she needs to do it all on her own and the guy who can't fathom being without her. The sea and her sky. The "I trust you" to his "I love you." The scrap of memory hidden beneath amnesia and the goodness buried within a shattered soul. Never getting a break but always choosing each other.

P.I.X.A.L. and Zane are the constant beat in both of their bodies. The one who is always forgotten and the one who remembers her despite the ofds. The Nindroid who is always breaking and the Samurai who fixes him time and time again. The work as one when surrounded on all sides. Always compatible no matter how much they may change.

Between being resurrected, his All-Caste training and powers, Nocturna being his (pre-Crisis) adopted mom, his (post-Crisis) friendship with Eddie Bloomberg, being on a Gotham-based strike team full of undead villains, and his various other connections to the magical side of the DCU, it's a wonder they haven't just gone for it already

Like...let him see ghosts and run a paranormal detective agency out of Crime Alley specializing in solving cold case homicides and giving closure to restless spirits, DC. You KNOW you want to!

And for more context here, these are the other things Dick said-

I’m not saying Tim was wholly in the wrong for not explaining himself or anything like that. And I understand that sometimes it’s fun to woobify Timbo a bit by writing fics and things were everyone was against him during this time and all of that. I get that.

But I also want everyone to know that Dick did not ever canonically do that.

Dick did not do everything right by any means, but he never wanted to send his little brother to Arkham. That is purely fanon.

Dick and Tim were in very different places. Dick was right that Tim really did need therapy. Tim was right that Bruce was alive. They both made huge mistakes. Dick shouldn't have ripped away the last stable role Tim had at that moment. Tim should have explained why he believed Bruce was alive. They both screwed up.

DC had both of them acting like Bruce. It was awful and messy and so unnecessary. Fannon ignores the cannon that, in the end, Dick let Tim go. Tim was an obvious mess (his biggest objection to dying is that Bruce would stay lost in time) but not actively suicidal. The worst mistake Dick made wasn't letting Tim go on his Bruce Quest. It was letting him go on it alone. Jason was out of the question at that point, but Cass would have gone with Tim if asked.

The bottom line is that the cannon situation was plenty awful as written. Fannon doesn't need to pile on the misery. Yes, fanfiction is fun when it explores the various "what if" scenarios but it's gotten to the place where fannon is becoming indistinguishable from cannon. That does no one any good.

If people wanna ignore canon and sacrifice Dick's character and Dick and Tim's relationship to throw some extra angst into their fics, I am all for it. Y'all wanna have some Pit Madness and "Replacement" and adding in everyone as Bruce's kids because that's what you want to write/read, do it. That's part of what makes fandoms and fanfiction fun.

The issue here is the fact that the majority of the Batman fandom doesn't engage in the comics in any way, and they DON'T KNOW that these things are only in the fandom. People fundamentally misunderstand the characters because they're stuck in a fandom echo chamber of misinformation and mischaracterisation that only gets worse the more people join the fandom without ever touching the source material.

thinking about the fact that, hypothetically, jay is immortal. until proven mortal, he still is the only one of the og-ninja who never died up to now. like, that dude literally survived being the CENTER OF AN EXPLOSION and had to watch his friends die at least twice (also in order to save him).

even lloyd, who is the grandson of their literal god, died more times than him. (lloyd will probably, due to his dragon and oni genetics, outlive the others just like his father and wu. but the concept of lloyd and jay BOTH outliving the others?? and them being confused because jay just won‘t die?? (maybe of old age though, who knows))

I also need to mention that, as far as I know, lightning also is a sort-of shortterm-thing. It usually only strikes once (and that pretty fast), and the concept of the elemental master of lightning just staying forever is something so special to me

and!! I think it’s also kinda fun to think about that zane, as a nindroid, has the highest death-count in comparison. zane & jay being doomed, just not in the way they expected

needless to say; immortal!jay lives in my head rent-free and I have another fanfic-idea that won‘t leave my brain for ages now

the fact I have yet to see lots of fics about Jay, who is currently slowly getting his memories back, starting to get back memories of skybound and starting to basically relieve his trauma as he remembers more and more horrible things that happened to him on that ship.
