Wow so I have been working on multiple doll customs at the moment, and I must wait for their new limbs or body parts to arrive, and others need more drying as I repainted a few faces.

But in the meantime, I got a doll project that's very special to me, and will be finished quite soon as I always wanted a Ballerina Barbie growing up, but of course I was much happier with stuffed animals than anything. So with luck I found this beautiful Twirlin Barbie secondhand from the 80s, that could use some tlc from me!

So far I brushed out her hair, and still need to get a glue to ensure her hair doesn't fall out as Barbies from the 80s, and before didn't have their hair glued in. I took off her jewelry, and original twirlin headband, and I managed to remove that silver fabric from her dress, and added more pizzaz to it on a mannequin I made for a 9 inch porcelain doll.

So far I like the gold ribbon but the sleeves I have a problem with. Might have to run to the Dollar Tree or Hobby Lobby to get matching fabric or ruffled ribbon of the same color. The tulle I'll cut short so her dress can be like the poofy ballerina dresses Ive seen :)

What do you guys think so far? :V Is it a very Barbie-esque outfit?

Okay this project unexpectedly going to take longer but faster to finish than the others lol

I took apart the barbie ballerina dress to copy the dress pattern if I ever desire to make more dresses for her. Plus I found some leftover scrap lace that I want to add into her bodice properly, and melt the edges to prevent the fabric from fraying and ripping.

Also I ordered some fabric tac glue to prevent her hair from falling out, as older Barbie dolls didn't have their hair glued in. Will post more updates soon! Thanks for reading :)

Just finished the upper bodice and pinning the tulle to the skirt. Now it's just a matter of attaching lace (found at Hobby Lobby and have been discontinued) trimming to the hems of the skirt. Honestly can't wait to reassemble her, and display her soon!

Had to redo the damn skirt xd I put the lace on backwards, but hopefully will be done soon! Just need to sew on the damn tulle and attach it to the upper bodice I already ornamented. My mother loves the results so far, tells me she wants to get married in the dress I am revamping for Ballerina Barbie :3

She was lacking some jewelry, and because Im deadass broke and can't buy her some off of Aliexpress, I made her a necklace and crown from the lace I used on her dress. Will hopefully finish everything before the end of this week, and post the final results :)

Still working on project! Just life got a bit busy xp Im sewing in lovely beads atm, and painting each one gold. Just need to add hoops to close the back of the dress with a thin gold ribbon, and add sleeves! Will post the photo god knows when lol, thanks for the views folks! :)

Taadaa I finally finished adding the lace to the dress. Braided her hair too to hold her crown and necklace, will be adding sleeves and coloring the pearls on her dress gold to blend in seamlessly >3> I love how she looks! Sleeping Beauty Barbie is what Ill be naming her, if they had done that movie concept before the Nutcracker, and you bet your socks she got undergarments under there! I added pink tulle to add that fluffiness to her former dress I picked apart to iron.

i have a story for you, tumblr. last year my coworkers and I were riding in a golf cart at a music festival passing out drinks to people, because the festival had been cancelled that day and everyone was trying to make the best of a bad situation. after some time we spot a guy on the other side of the road dressed as lord farquaad, walking alone. we yell, “LORD FARQUAAD! DO YOU WANT A DRINK??” dude yells an affirmative, walks into the road without looking, gets hit by a fucking car, and goes flying.

I really need you to picture a lord farquaad being dummy yeeted into the air by an incoming vehicle while a golf cart of inebriated, glitter and mud plastered coworkers are full-on horror movie screaming together. before we can even process this, lord farquaad gets up like 🤪 how bout that drink?? completely okay, utterly unphased, red hat and bob wig still locked the fuck in. we check on him several times, all talking over each other, and while he’s calmly and pleasantly assuring us he’s fine, he passes each one of us a tiny jesus figurine. he bestows a “god bless you all” and then resumes his jaunt, drink in hand.

after that we drove in total relieved hysterics, the kinda laughter that only happens when you narrowly avoided catastrophe. and i have NO idea if the driver that hit him even said a word because my entire consciousness in that moment was farquaad, there was only farquaad. I hope that he reads this one day and knows that he is STILL talked about and regarded as some sort of festival cryptid. we are blessed indeed
