excuse me officer i would like to report a murder
Likewise: if you’re against abortion, don’t have one.
Actually, as someone who is vehemently pro-choice, I do think it's different. If you believe that an embryo/fetus is a person and thus abortion is murder than saying this would be similar to saying: if you're against murder, don't murder anyone. The most important difference here (and it is a very important difference) is that if our society would say this, it won't protect you or your loved ones from getting murdered. Obviously, an anti-abortion law wouldn't protect people speaking out against abortion from being aborted since it would be a little late for that. Still I do feel the moral quagmire here is a lot more complicated than with marriages in all their forms.
That said, if you take issue with the idea that an embryo/fetus is not a person (which we have decided as a society, is the case), take it up with the government or the judiciary system, not with the people who have to go through a process hard enough as it is.
Guardian News: “‘You have stolen my dreams and my childhood with your empty words,’ climate activist Greta Thunberg has told world leaders at the 2019 UN climate action summit in New York.”
What pisses me off so damn much is that so much of the criticism directed at her is so intensely personal. Here we’re having a 16 year old girl, who speaks an opinion about her future and the future of the earth and left and right people are commenting that she is just a little girl who should shut up about matters she doesn’t know anything about, that she is a puppet, that it is all an act in the name of propaganda, that she is a hypocrite, that she does not have it hard enough to have an opinion about this subject, that she is autistic.
The whole basis of democracy is that people can speak their opinion. Loads of people vote without having all that much of grasp of the inner working of politics, because they still should be able to speak out about their interests and their interests should be represented. The fact that others might think they are misguided does nothing to change that. Regardless of whether she is right or wrong, Greta has EVERY right to speak about something that could greatly affect her future, and the future of her friends, classmates and peers.
She has spoken on the issue for quite some time, she has protested for quite some time, she allegedly convinced her family to take some steps for bettering the environment etc. meaning there are just as many reasons to assume that she is just as she appears: a girl very worried about the future of her generation because of climate change. To just claim that she is not, is both highly presumptions as well as manipulative, because it mostly used to invalidate everything she says, instead of responding to WHAT she actually says.
And the fact that her aspergers is brought up continuously is absolutely preposterous, that has nothing to do with anything, and it definitely has nothing to do with her stance on climate change. Again, democracy means people can speak their concerns and be heard. Period. The concerns of people with a disorder or disability matter just as much as those of the people who do not have a disorder, and trying to use her aspergers as way to invalidate her voice is unacceptable.
What I am trying to say is, these attacks on her person are the equivalent of kicking the shit out of your opponent in soccer/football rather than the ball, which would get you benched. It is bad form and (in soccer/football) also usually a sign that you are unable to win the game by actually playing it.
You disagree with her? Fine, tell everyone why she is wrong. Don’t tell everyone she shouldn’t be heard.
TL;DR
Verbally attacking a teenager, because she says things publically that you do not agree with, is morally unjustifiable. If you do not agree with her, that is great, please tell us about the things she says that you do not agree with, and why you do not agree with it. But telling people whatever she says is invalid because of the person she is, is absolutely beyond the pale.

Oeh I like this! (Also, she killed 15 humans?! How is that possible? Was human killing not a big no-no? Even if they are in league with the mayor or killing your friends? Who are these 15 people?)

Hufflepuffs are the ones who love. Who find beauty in fallen petals and drifting leaves. They are the ones who pull books from their shelves in a burst of nostalgia, only to to hold them in their hands and flip without thought through the pages. They smile as the rain falls down and laugh as their hair lifts in the breeze. They hang photos above their fireplaces and keep letters from their friends in battered boxes. They are the ones who know all of the words to their favorite songs. Who know what it takes to make another smile. They watch out their windows as sunsets turn over to dusk and wear sweaters so many times that the sleeves begin to fray. They cling to laughter and point to the stars as they peek out from behind the clouds. They are the ones who find beauty in life.
Ravenclaws are the ones who question. Who point at birds and ask why they can fly and humans can’t. They are the ones who pull up flowers to study the roots. Who would follow lines of ants when they were children. They are the ones who strike up conversation and point to the cobwebs on the ceiling. They listen to music for the instruments, not the words, and when they write, they end only because they have run out of parchment, not because they are short on things to say. They are the ones who try to teach themselves to knit. Who leave notes in the margins of books that drive librarians mad. They listen to conversation with rapt attention, gratefully jumping in whenever pause allows. They are the ones who lie awake at night, wondering about the universe and the depths of the ocean. They are the ones who find wonder in life.
Gryffindors are the ones who discover. Who plunge into the woods with nothing but the clothes on their backs. They are the ones who explore dust-ridden attics. Who fall into streams, only to find that the water is perfect temperature for swimming. They live for the sun beating against their cheeks and an untrodden path before them. They travel to places others have never heard of and return with thrilling tales and exciting stories. They are the ones who try new foods. Who watch foreign movies and dance alone in the early morning. They’ll pick a direction and drive for miles, stopping only when sleep decides to claim them. They push past flowers without fear of the thorns, cupping the small blossoms in their hands as they pass. They are the ones who find excitement in life.
Slytherins are the ones who dream. Who paint even though they never learned how. They are the ones who keep journals and write poetry. Who ask others to tell them a story. They stare at the clouds and watch them form shapes, unmindful of the grass prickling against their elbows. They are the ones who stay awake long after everyone else has fallen asleep. Who read books, and newspapers, and anything they can get their hands on. They wish on stars, eyelashes, and birthday candles, and their eyes gleam whenever someone mentions one of their passions. They are the ones who like to watch trees grow: from saplings to guardians of the forest. Who will study maps for hours on end. They close their eyes when they listen to music, and their thoughts are full of color. They are the ones who find hope in life.
Every time.
