Conclusion: My boy is getting done dirtier than Hades in modern representation. Ares is one of the least problematic Gods in the pantheon (except for the murders, I will grant you) and ya’ll are sleeping on him.

Concept (if this wouldn’t throw Librarians shit cattywhompus): Next TV (or movie if he’s big enough to be in movies) incarnation of Ares played by Christian Kane who brings a godly version of the “same energy” he brought to both Elliot Spencer and Jacob Stone

Also, fangirl moment aside, you could even make the dichotomy of him and Athena in diametric opposition and her being the goddess of battle strategy (at least in pop culture idk how much this was represented in the myths) work with a positive portrayal of Ares in a less bloodlust-y way by having him basically portrayed as “the god of fighting spirit”, y’know, “Do You Hear The People Sing” sort of energy

That’s a pretty close interpretation. Basically, Athena was a general and Ares was a soldier. Athena did the planning, and Ares did the fighting. Athena was the patriotic fairy-tale that kids got told to convince them to fight, Ares was the grim reality of war.

Also, Christian Kane is a great choice. I was always partial to Jon Bernthal, serving up some Punisher energy for the roll.
