one of the main problems with TRAs is that they don't understand the "no true Scotsman" fallacy. they think it applies to radfems the same way it would apply to trans people.
the problem with this thinking is that radical feminism is an activist ideology with a specific set of beliefs, and being trans is not.
let's use vegans as an example. if someone were against vegans, they might say "what about this vegan who supports killing animals for their meat?" responding to this with "that person isn't vegan" would not be a fallacy because veganism had a specific set of beliefs that must be followed to be a vegan.
this same logic applies to radical feminism. responding to "this radfem is pro life!" with "that's not a radfem" isn't a fallacy because you cannot, by definition, be a pro life radfem.
the reason this doesn't apply to trans people is because being trans doesn't require any specific beliefs or actions. the majority of people now believe that dysphoria isn't required to be trans. you couldn't respond to "this trans person used their identity to get into a single-sex space" with "that's not a real trans person" is because there is no set requirements for being trans
frankly fatphobia is just stupid because i never exercise, eat fast food at least once a day, destroy my body with alcohol and weed, don't drink enough water, and not sleep the right amount but because i'm naturally thin people would assume i'm "healthier" than someone who's naturally bigger
Does anyone know any newish radfem or rad leaning books? Like 2010's to present day.
'Invisible Women' by Caroline Criado Perez is an incredible book that everyone should read, first published 2019, about the way society is built around men in literally every aspect of life
'Pimp State' by Kat Banyard, first published 2016, is an amazing takedown of the six main myths that surround the sex trade
'Firebrand Feminism' by Breanne Fahs, first published 2018, interviews and looks into the lives of prominent Radical feminists Ti-Grace Atkinson, Kathie Sarachild, Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz and Dana Densmore, as well as discussing the basics and historic origins of radical feminism as a grass roots movement
'Spinning and Weaving : Radical Feminism for the 21st century' edited by Elizabeth Miller, first published 2021, is an anthology of various essays on topics such as porn, intersectional feminism, lesbian feminism, transgender politics and more (some are better than others, it's 600+ pages so I'm making my way through)
'Trans' by Helen Joyce, published 2021 - not so much radical feminism - moreso gender critical, as Joyce herself claims to be 'fiscally conservative' - and a few takes I don't quiet agree with but overall an excellent comprehensive discussion of the current and historical political climate of trans issues
Why Women Are Blamed For Everything by Dr Jessica Taylor, about the psychology of victim blaming. Grim but straightforward reading. It’s been years since I read it, but also Natasha Walter’s Living Dolls, about the hypersexualisation of young women and return of misogyny as ‘empowerment’. Also Testosterone Rex by Cordelia Fine, about the science of sex differences.
“The Women’s History of the Modern World: How Radicals, Rebels, and Everywomen Revolutionized the Last 200 Years” by Rosalind Miles (2021)
“Policing the Womb: Invisible Women and the Criminalization of Motherhood” by Michelle Goodwin (2020)
“The End of Gender: Debunking the Myths about Sex and Identity in Our Society” by Dr. Debra W. Soh (2020)
“Witches, Witch Hunting and Women” by Silvia Federici (2018)
“Butterfly Politics” by Catharine Mackinnon (2017)
“Pornland: How Porn Has Hijacked Our Sexuality” by Gail Dines (2010)
“The Industrial Vagina: The Political Economy of the Global Sex Trade” (2008), “Beauty and Misogyny” (2005), “Gender Hurts: A Feminist Analysis of the Politics of Transgenderism” (2014), “Unpacking Queer Politics” (2003) by Sheila Jefferys
Being and Being Bought: Prostitution, Surrogacy and the Split Self by Kajsa Ekis Ekman (2010)
The Disappearing L: Erasure of Lesbian Spaces and Culture by Bonnie J. Morris (2014)
Runaway Wives and Rogue Feminists: The Origins of the Women's Shelter Movement in Canada by Margo Goodhand (2017)
The Pimping of Prostitution: Abolishing the Sex Work Myth by Julie Bindel (2017)
Surrogacy: A Human Rights Violation by Renate Klein (2017)
Men Who Hate Women - From Incels to Pickup Artists: The Truth about Extreme Misogyny and How It Affects Us All by Laura Bates (2020)
Detransition: Beyond Before and After by Max Robinson (2021)
apparently ive made that exact post several months ago but thats bc im right and its ludicrous
americans will be like wearing shoes indoors and the same mask for 8 hours is fine but if you don’t scrub your legs with a loofah and soap every single day you’re dirty and disgusting and we just let them
I get the whole “just buy clothes for men” but also I don’t because men do not have the hip to waist ratio I do and therefore their clothes do Not fit me so “just buy clothes for men” doesn’t really work actually sorry
women deserve comfortable functional cheap clothes designed for their body types
Writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie calls out Feminism Lite — “a hollow, appeasing and bankrupt idea.”
“But here is the sad truth: Our world is full of men and women who do not like powerful women. We have been so conditioned to think of power as male that a powerful women is an aberration. And so she is policed. We ask of powerful women: Is she humble? Does she smile? Is she grateful enough? Does she have a domestic side? Questions we do not ask of powerful men, which shows that our discomfort is not with power itself, but with women. We judge powerful women more harshly than we judge powerful men. And Feminism Lite enables this.”
“Of course I am angry. I am angry about racism. I am angry about sexism. But I recently came to the realization that I am angrier about sexism than I am about racism. Because in my anger about sexism, I often feel lonely. Because I love, and live among, many people who easily acknowledge race injustice but not gender injustice. “
Chimamanda Ngozi firing the shots
It’s specially meaningful when you consider Beyonce once stole her words to proclaim herself a feminist, when she is anything but
Feminism Lite indeed
been struggling big time with my body, food and exercise for the past six months to a year and idk who to talk to or what to do anymore
idk man. 13 months ago i was recovering from a stretch of brutal gut infections during which i could barely eat anything and had lost a substantial amount of weight as a result and loved how i looked, had a general routine with food and generally felt fine and calm about it all, then around march 2021 it all went to hell. i can’t pinpoint a specific event or circumstance but i’ve started gaining weight, whether it was my “normal” weight going back on after being sick or hormonal issues i have no idea at this point. i’ve spent a fuckload of money on hormone tests bc i have fucking pcos and live every day with a background of paranoid fever that i’m about to get type 2 diabetes and get fat and die because of it on top of regular ed bullshit, but the tests always come back normal and my insulin is fine. all of my pants are uncomfortably tight and i’ve no hope of replacing most of them. all of this has sent me into a mild binge/restrict cycle i have no idea how to get out of. i’ve been trying my best to exercise for the past several months and i plan on continuing to do this one 30-40 min circuit training workout every other day (bc that’s how long and how often i can be bothered long term. i know it’s important for health but i just hate exercise and i hate physical discomfort more than literally anything in the world. i’m fucking sorry.) but now that the weather is getting cold i can’t take my long walks or go biking anymore and i’m terrified of how it will reflect on my body. i absolutely cannot afford to put on any more extra weight. last time i heard how much i weigh at a doctor’s (completely horrible and traumatizing visit but that’s a different story) i cried for two hours straight. i keep overeating without meaning to and i don’t know how to stop and control myself without worsening the binge/restrict cycle. i’m always bloated. i love to cook and bake so much but i wish i could be normal about food and enjoy it without this extreme immense guilt that creeps up every time minutes or hours later. i wish i had a better figure which would’ve looked normal at a higher or lower weight but i’m six feet tall and shaped like a fridge instead. i’ve put on a little bit of muscle but all i’ve gained from it is horrible back pain which i never had before and i basically look like this now.
i don’t know what happened. i had seemingly recovered but now it’s all back except for the self control and discipline i apparently possessed at 14 when i first lost weight and can’t seem to get back. i’m just so tired.
hanging out with an Average Guy is a literally painful experience. it’s like trying to talk to a wall. I produce some beautiful, insightful thread of conversation and they respond with canned one-liners or strive to change the topic back to themselves and their boring lives. the difference between me and men is insurmountable. we speak different languages. I’m at least 10,000 yrs more evolved. it’s almost funny that women get deigned the inferior sex bc we are collectively lightyears more civilized refined and intelligent, in tune to the emotional tempo of the room, brains producing elegant thoughts while men sit around sucking their fingers and toes. irredeemable savages

Anyone whos more horny than me is a pervert freak anyone less horny than me is a ace demi sapio kinnie prude
I tell you learning so many men don't wash their asses changed my life. It was like the clouds parted and I became Enlightened. Women are out here waxing our arm pits our arms our legs our pubic hair, we're getting our assholes bleached in case men wanna get in there, we're barely eating to maintain an "attractive" weight, we're wearing uncomfortable clothing and footware to be feminine, we're constantly aware of the Public Eye and the Voyeur In Our Minds, and for what? For a group of people that can't be bothered to literally clean their dirty asses??? Men Don't Wash Their Asses is like a divine revelation in a holy text, it is a sentence so horrid it sets you free, it clears the haze of patriarchal thinking. A man may deride me, demean me, claim my entire sex beneath his, and I need only remember the Holy Words: Men Don't Wash Their Asses, and suddenly his words are the meaningless babble of a lowly beast. Ladies, when in doubt, remember: He Who Does Not Wash His Ass has nothing of value to say to you.
Awomen 🙏
that second vaccine dose almost did me in gyns. i got it last evening and woke up with a super high fever that didn’t go down with two paracetamols and an ibuprofen but i think it’s slightly going down now, 25 hours later. watched the office and cried into my ice cream all day lol
Don’t let Billie Eilish’s sudden change of style make you think that girls who are “tomboys” or more boyish are just going through a phase that they will grow out of when they “become women” and “embrace femininity”.
Also, don’t fall victim to the narrative that wearing baggy clothing as a woman means you are insecure or “hate yourself” or your body and you will wear revealing clothing when you “learn to love yourself”. That is not a positive message for young girls. Believe it or not, you can love your body and yourself and wear baggy clothing and not have a very sexualized or hyper- feminine style. Don’t let a society that sexualizes everything tell you otherwise.
made my first vax appointment. not happy about it but im being left no choice lol
got my first dose ladies!
so i’d hoped i’d get shot up on friday evening and sleep through the worst of the side effects but it.....didn’t work like that. that covid vaccine wasn’t lying that arm can SORE. was pretty miserable and feverish for most of saturday but powered through it by the grace of g-d and a paracetamol (they told me not to take anything unless my fever got higher than 38 C but fuck that) and two days later i’m back to my usual level of miserable and feverish so that was fine enough. next dose in 3 wks and then i’ll be able to go to establishments again
