I can clearly remember the moment I first realised my mother and I were living on completely different planes of existence. I was 7 years old and I came home from my school's first track and field day having placed second or third in every event. the teachers had been making jokes all afternoon about how many times they had to call my name. my friends thought I was cool as shit. my enemies thought I was cool as shit too, come to think of it. I was proud as hell. so I get home with the entire front of my shirt covered in ribbons like I was a military dictator who'd awarded himself every medal, I walk into the kitchen and tell my mum all about my day, and she goes "oh, that must be disappointing not getting any firsts." and I'm like no?? first of all the first place ribbons are red and I don't like red. second of all look at me. there's literally nowhere left on my body for accolades. I am fucking Jacked of All Trades. how could this possibly be a disappointment.

It is so incredibly cringe that Uma Musume REFUSES to say the word "Christmas" and defaults to "Holiday" EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Nevermind the characters literally saying "Kurisumasu" out loud. Nevermind the background music having lyrics about "A Christmas dream".

This is why I fucking hate subtitles that are translated "with creative interpretations".

You're subtitles. You job is to fucking translate the words spoken.

How about you be inclusive by accurately reflecting the Japanese language and culture instead of enforcing American sensibilities into a foreign work.

Sorry I’ve haven’t posted in a while! art block has been hitting me like a truck lately so ima try and do some silly stuff more just to try and un-car crash my head

Now that Underverse 0.8 Part 1 is finally out, it’s time for me to step back and take a break from the series. It’s a bittersweet decision... seeing the amazing reaction to this episode makes me want to dive right into animating the next parts. But I know if I do, I’ll fall back into the same cycle of emotional burnout I’ve faced over the years. To break that draining routine, I need to stop for a moment. Underverse will be on HIATUS FOR 1 YEAR AND A HALF.

HOWEVER! I’m not disappearing entirely! I’ll still be working on the XTALE 21 YEARS comic, hosting Ask the Xtale Gang events, and occasionally creating short animated content. This break will also give me a chance to focus on my original project, METADORA.

I’d be lying if I say I'm a little worried about people forgetting the series during the hiatus. But I need this break, and I can’t thank you all enough for your continued support and encouragement. Even during tough times, knowing that this project was born from a mix of improvisation and silliness, has brought joy and inspiration to so many people reminds me of my purpose in this world. And I want to keep doing that until the end.

I hope to return with renewed passion and strength to finish this journey that has taught me so much not only as an artist, but as a person as well.

Thank you for being with me.
