hi mr gaiman! as someone who’s enjoyed your works since they were fairly young, and is currently working towards being a so-called “writer” (whatever that possibly means), i often struggle with getting too attached to charatcer/stories i’m working on. unfortunately, this results in me being quite averse to criticism - even helpful ones. i was wondering if you had any tips to avoid this! thank you so much 🫡🫡

ちゃんと報告書に融通きかせてくれていて、意外といい人だ…というのと、暑さにキレながら報告書を作っていたのか…。という想像の落書きです。

He's surprisingly good at putting up with writing a report. That, or he's losing his temper from the heat while writing it up…? A doodle from my imaginings.

Ooh, interesting. So we've got the Modali Syndrome, a genetic disorder endemic to Harbor City, a place once teeming with Eclipsites from ancient times. A heroic bloodline whose ancestors continuously kept the Eclipsites at bay...

The name Modali is phonetic in Chinese, but the breakdown (pun intended) of the hanzi goes:

摩 (rub)

德 (virtue / goodness / morality / ethics / kindness / favor / character / kind)

利 (sharp / favorable / advantage / benefit / profit / interest / to do good to / to benefit)

They were literally named quite good at what they do. And when we consider what Carleen said about the disorder:

Carleen: All I learned is that this disease quickly saps the Lumina of victims and prevents it from recovering to normal levels for a prolonged period of time.

It's noted in the JP and CN version that it was a curse from the Eclipsites. But this sounds like the Modali were so good at what they did, some biological warfare was at play (perhaps by the beings behind the curtain and not just the Eclipsites) similar to what was done to the Caelestites to even out the playing field to keep the wars going. It forced their hands to seek out allies, after all.

Going through the Summer's breeze event and I was reminded that I posted this. Re-reading it now and I see I got things wrong, but I wasn't too far off.

Using Jeno's Origin to deceive the device was clever coming from Elvis, but he really doesn't think of the collateral, does he? Jeno, you deserve someone better.

I may not like Elvis, but I can't refute that he with Jeno is eye candy.
