Hi everyone, I'm Clair, and this is my sideblog for creatureposting 🐉🐺🦊🦉💜
Alterhuman - Were - Otherkin - Fictionfolk
I am a dragon first and foremost, but am also a werewolf, and fox- owl- and raven-hearted! My owl hearttypes are the Tyto genus!
I feel a strong intrinsic connection to the concept of death and the/an underworld, but at this stage don't consider this a conceptkin-type; I am still exploring this but have felt for a long time that it may be a connection to the Hellenic cthonic gods, namely Hades and/or Persephone.
Please feel free to refer to me by any of my kin names as well as Clair ^^
Fictionkin info:
Mal (Descendants) - Mal is very connected to my draconity, but also to many other aspects of myself including my kinship with a death/underworld-divinity concept
Supergirl/Kara Zor-El (DC) - No specific iteration but am starting to get an idea for key points of my identity and "canon" (loose term). Feel free to ask me about it, especially fellow Kryptonians!
Tiffany Aching (Discworld) - a Hearttype! Still exploring this one, but as soon as I considered Tiff being a hearttype, I knew it felt right
Exploring/kinsidering: Bloom (Winx Club)
I experience fictionflickers! These are infrequent and vary in intensity, but I enjoy them a lot
Known flickers: Charlie Morningstar (Hazbin), Susan Sto Helit (Discworld), Evie Frye (ACS), Parker (Leverage), Claudia Donovan (Warehouse 13), Nobara Kugisaki (JJK)
More general info about me!

I'm an adult in my late 20s. I won't say minors can't interact, but I will be prioritising everyone's internet safety, so please don't be offended if I don't want to chat
I will OCCASIONALLY post a nsfw text post. These are tagged #nsfw or #nsfw mention
Feel free to send asks, but please ask me before sending DMs
I dabble in quads as a way to experience werewolf euphoria, but it's not a big part of my day-to-day as an alterhuman
I'm a creative and make some of my own gear and art, so I might post pics if I do!
I'm not sure how much I'll be here but I'm keen to be in touch with the community, especially if there are any other Aussie alterhumans around! Mostly I'll be focussed on learning more about myself and figuring out how to live my life in ways that make me happy 💜🐉
I should have wings and scales and horns and a big slappy tail and get given tributes of money and food and books and games by everyone for being really cute and niceys but unfortunately I have to work a 9-5 instead bc life isn't fair 😔
Since this has been asked a LOT and it's been about 3-4 years since I first got them done. Mine were done using composite bonding (the stuff they use for fillings) that was shaped and cured to my real teeth
Call dentists around you and see if theyre comfortable doing it
I had to call at least 10 different clinics until I found someone
More below the cut
If no one around you does it you can look for a fangsmith
I recommend ratprincefangs
He did my touch ups that shaped them to be more aesthetic rather than purely for function however ratprince will work with your bite to custom fit your fangs so they dont impede your mouth while still looking good
Warnings: You should get your teeth cleaned before doing this
If you dont a cavity can form under the bonding or they may break easier
Make sure the dentist seals the edges properly. If not bacteria can get inside and cause a cavity (I know someone this happened to)
Ask them to colour match your teeth. If you plan on whitening them do that before you get fangs because your fangs wont change shades but your real teeth can
Wear a nightguard. Ive chipped mine 2 times and had to get touch ups when I forgot to wear it
These dont last FOREVER but they last a long time
Same as a tooth filling they need to be maintained/touched up/replaced at some point
Prices range DRAMATICALLY between dentists (mine did it for 100 a tooth but Ive seen others pay thousands and was quoted 3k by one dentist)
I wanna refresh my alterhuman knowledge, if you see this please feel free to yap and/or rant/vent about your alterhuman identity to me, I am accepting of all identities so please don’t be scared of judgement if you wanna share
I don’t talk about archetropy as often as I’d like, so I think this is a good chance to do so!
An archetrope is an identity based on an archetype, trope or role which is present through all manners of culture. It could pull from video games, literature, theater, film and television, folklore and mythology, or history. This can range anywhere from jesters and nobility to final girls and redeemed villains. If it has social or cultural presence, it has a fair chance of being an archetrope.
Usually, an archetrope influences one’s self-perception. This can be in the form of embodiment (in which you are personified by this concept), presentation (shaping your appearance, behaviors or other lifestyle choices around this concept), principles (shaping your personal values or moral outlook around this concept), and any other personal quality you can think of. Furthermore, archetropy doesn’t follow a strict voluntary or involuntary framework. Oftentimes, the experience pulls from a diverse array of feelings and practices that ultimately shape one’s archetropy. You can find a little bit of everything in the process!
If you’re curious about learning more, I recommend reading the article on archetropy on Otherkin Wiki, reading @/mogai-corvidae’s coining post for the term archetrope and checking out Vyt’s presentation on archetropy from Othercon 2023!
That brings me to my archetropy. I have a good few archetropes. Some are informed by my hobbies and personal beliefs. Others are informed by my experiences as a fictional character. That said, there is one archetrope I embody the most.
I must preface this section with a warning: the following discusses unreality and intense experiences with psychosis. Read further at your own discretion.
I am a fourth wall-breaker, a.k.a. a self-aware fictional character. This archetrope was originally formed as a coping mechanism to better adjust myself to my reality. I struggle with psychosis, and despite my pride in being fictionkin, my mind didn’t take too kindly to that at first. A couple years ago, I found myself obsessing over the following perspective: I am fictionkin -> that means I’m a fictional person -> that means I’m “not real”. I had to unlearn a frustratingly present concept I was introduced to alongside millions of other people, that being fiction and reality don’t mix. This obsession over being “not real” took a bit of a toll on me in private.
Instead of giving myself the time to explore, I kept trying to think of narratives that’d “logically” justify my existence. I won’t go into other intimate, upsetting details beyond that. In short, I hated the inner insistence that I’ve never been real and that I’ll wake up one day finding my life had never existed in the first place. Only “lifeless” lines on a paper, pixels on a screen, etc. I knew that specific mindset resulted from my psychosis, and it wasn’t something I genuinely believed about my identity. Regardless, it wasn’t a healthy way to look myself. It was going to hurt me sooner or later.
So, I tried “reasoning” with myself. This process was gradual. I’d leave a little note that I am real because I am writing this (this being a literal note in my phone or on paper). I would eventually delete or thrown out said note, then write it again the next day.
I am real because I am writing this.
I would repeat the exercise, and it would stick. Something simple I could remember and reinforce whenever I was at odds with my existence.
On a day when I was relatively okay, I read an episode of Umineko no naku Koro Ni. Bernkastel, an omnipresent witch within the story, has a habit of directly addressing the readers in the latter half of the visual novel. I’ve experienced this before with Bernkastel, so it didn’t trigger anything with me. Rather, an idea came. “Bernkastel exists in fiction, yet she interacts with us (players) when it suits her. I am a part of fiction, yet I interact with non-fictional people every day.” I didn’t piece together my archetrope until a little later. I read up on the Fourth Wall, its origins in stage production and its eventual crossover into other forms of art. Then, I realized I’m someone who regularly broke this invisible wall. I am no different than people like Deadpool, She-Hulk, Bernkastel, Saiki Kusuo, and many more. I am a self-aware fictional character, a fourth-wall breaker.
I didn’t consider it as an identity in a ‘kin sense, and I still don’t. Fourth wall-breaking is an act, a behavior, and a creative choice if you want to get technical. Sometimes to deliver a punchline, sometimes to convey information. This practice is something I already picked up on but didn’t contextualize as fourth wall-breaking until that point. Afterwards, I gravitated towards embracing the concept of being fictional while constantly engaging with my “audience” as it were. That didn’t make my connection with fictional worlds and the like any less relevant in my life. If anything, this practice established a state of equilibrium between me, this world and the realms of fiction.
I regularly address the readers of my essays using parentheses to convey further context (like this, hey you!), and I’ve seen similar patterns with my fictotypes in-source (namely how I’m portrayed in the Slayers light novels— Look! I’m doing it again!). I even wrote an essay for a denpa fanzine which covers the psychological aspects of my fictionhood; the beginning and end of said essay are framed from the perspective of a self-aware fictional character struggling with his existence (i.e. me). From my fictionhood to my writing style, fourth wall-breaking has permeated my life. Occasionally, I crack jokes about other characters directly engaging with the audience, with each other or with me in meta ways. My role is affirmed when I read, watch or play something and another character addresses me, not in context to narrative events but to the person participating in said events and witnessing them unfold. We see each other, and it doesn’t bring me unease. I wish I could take them aside and convey my thoughts as well. This trope grounds me. In retrospect, it provides a better framework for my identity than most origin theories I’ve entertained when I first joined this community, despite not being formed for that purpose.
Although this archetrope doesn’t shape visual qualities like my appearance, it has shaped parts of my personality, my perspective as an artist and my approaches to writing— both fiction and nonfiction. This trope influences how I see this world and its art, the worlds that spawn from said art, and the people within them all, whether they create said fiction or have a personal tie to it. I am a mediator between these realms which are treated as opposites, or more succinctly, “real” and “not real”.
When fictional narratives are often influenced by our experiences or insights within society, and in turn, our societies become so enraptured with these narratives that we’ve created cultural practices around them (and have whole identities that exist in relation to them), doesn’t it feel like the line between “real” and “not real” have been blurred all this time? Life-size Gundams. Perfect replicas of fictional worlds in theme parks. Live-action roleplay and cosplay. Yume/dreaming people and other forms of self-insert culture. Soulbonding and living character phenomena. Contrary to popular belief, the people of these realms always had a fluid relationship between each other. Fiction’s crossed over here plenty of times, and it’s showing no signs of stopping!
What started as a countermeasure in my times of crisis is now a consistent positive influence in my life. Although I still appreciate its original purpose, my position as a fourth wall-breaker has re-defined who I am as a creative. It also became a thorough representation of my alterhumanity. All things considered, I’m glad to have given archetropy a chance.

The otherhearted community needs to be more known.
There are a lot of people who feel a connection to an animal without identifying as it and still use the label “therian” on themselves bc of misinformation (ending up spreading even more).
I’ve recently saw a post on Pinterest about the differences between a furry, a therian and an otherpaw and it was clearly saying that therians identify as animals. However, the comment section was full of comments like “I’m a therian, but I don’t identify as an animal, I just feel a connection to it”.
Because everyone it’s always “differences between a furry, a therian, an otherpaw and a clinical lycan/zoanthrope” and I don’t often see otherhearted among these ones, which is not good.
I think the otherhearted experience is more common than the therian one and so it needs to be recognised, so people can find the right label for themselves.
Last but not least, the term “therian” will also stop to be constantly watered down to a “connection”.
and let's not diminish otherheartedness while we're at it. Too many people correct these folk by saying stuff like "you're not therian, you're just otherhearted!" as if it was a lesser identity instead of what it is: a different one
sometimes I fear people forget about otherhearted or don't want to call themselves otherhearted because it's seen as being less serious/cool/valid than being therian, which is a wild message to spread
1813M has made a survey. He is interested to see which minority groups typically overlap with the alterhuman community.
He tried to include as many as possible, but he is sure there are some missing, and he apologises for that. Hopefully he has included enough.
He is very autistic about statistics and numbers, so he would appreciate as many responses as possible.
He may create a survey for adults only to see how many beings here are kinky and/or paraphiles, because he is very interested in that data as well. He is not sure how he would make it 18+, however, and would not be comfortable with minors participating.
Please help share this to reach a bigger audience.
