I really hate when I am looking at fanart of Error Sans and he is in an uncomfortable situation that triggers his fear and it’s played off as “hehe funny” or “lol he looks so scared”.

Like, he is traumatized, ofc he is scared. Haphephobia is not a joke, and nothing about it is funny. As someone who has this fear, I really hate whenever people make fun of people who have it.

I have not been s3xually assaulted before, but I have been s3xually harassed (still happening) and physically assaulted (past).

I especially hate whenever Error is drawn super uncomfortable in situations that are supposed to be “ships”. I don’t ship characters, and I don’t care if you do, but can you NOT make Error so uncomfortable? I have come across so much ship art (accidentally) of nightmare LITERALLY M0L3STING Error and all the comments being like “I love this ship” like, that’s what a normal, healthy ship looks like to you?! And don’t get me STARTED whenever people say “he secretly liked it” like, um, no he didn’t.

I’m not hating on any artists or shippers.

As someone who has haphephobia, and haphephobia not being represented a lot in fiction, I don’t like seeing a character I kin who has that fear being represented as hilarious or entertaining. You could pick literally ANYTHING else to make fun of error about but the fear is pushing triggering territory. His height, his posture, literally ANYTHING else but the fear.

Also, I hate when people make ship art and completely ignore the fear.

Something I think is cool when people ship characters tho is when they include RESPECT!!!!

Like, instead of making the ship forceful or boundary-crossing, they try to make it work in a way that his boundaries are being respected. (An example I’ve seen is error and ink holding hands with error’s strings so their actual hands aren’t touching.)

Again, I don’t ship any characters so PLEASE, any shippers reading this, DON’T COME AFTER ME!!!

I’m talking about shippers who think it’s ok to use error’s phobia to make him seem “weak” or make fun of him.

As someone with haphephobia, most people don’t consider haphephobia feels a lot more like a lifestyle than a fear.

I wake up in the morning, think about how my fear will get triggered by the reckless actions of others. I think all day about how someone is going to touch me accidentally or on purpose and how I feel powerless to stop it at school. You come home and think you can relax now, right? Nope. Because you have to get caught up on work that you couldn’t focus on earlier due to literally fearing for your life. I go to bed every night, dreading the next day because I know the cycle will repeat. Over, and over, and over… that’s a whole other conversation I don’t want to get into tho, just thought it’d be nice if anyone saw the POV of someone with the fear and they realize it’s way deeper than it sounds.

So seeing someone make fun of that?

Seeing someone say that he “wanted” physical touch when it’s the one thing he explicitly avoided?

The mocking of his character because of it?

“He secretly liked it”

“He looks so funny”

“He is so scared lol”

Yeah, no. I’m sorry, but that’s just insane to me.

And I get there are people that are thinking “it’s just fiction” or “none of it is real”, but the effects this has on people are real. They make normal people feel like boundaries are stupid and make haphephobic people feel disrespected.

Also, another point I want to make is:

It’s ok to make fun of a fictional character’s fear if it’s something that does NOT have real affects.

For example whenever people made fun of Jax for fearing corn, that’s fine because corn is a vegetable. (I don’t know much about TADC nowadays, I watched the first ep when it came out but I can never find time to watch the rest yet, so idk how accurate my example is. Please let me know if it’s not very accurate to canon Jax, I was trying to think of an example of a funny fictional fears and I was like “everyone knows Jax lol” so yeah.)

It’s not ok for error and his fear of touch because it’s not something funny. If you think fearing physical touch is funny, please go get help.

Anways, I thought this was important cuz people forget that this stuff affects real life.

Also, I’m gonna add, it’s really hard to escape ship art in the fandom, even if you try. So please, don’t bring that up.

I agree, but Jax's fear is not at all ok to make fun of as it also could effect his everyday life. He has the fear of a lot of tiny holes or something, and that is a real fear. No fears are ok to make fun of.

I want to make it something funny where you basically just say a stupid crime (nothing serious) and have a sans AU defend you in court! I think that would be HILARIOUS!!! Dream would be the judge tho lol. Maybe the jury can be frisks or charas… OR BOTH?????
