Intro Post
Hello! I’m the Mexican, pink-haired witch with a complicated sexuality and adhd that your mother warned you about. Would you like a cookie? 🍪 🍪🍪🍪🍪
Thanks for being here. Enjoy your cookie, here’s some strawberry lemonade to go with it. And let’s dive in!
Name: A while ago Anathema Device was my pfp (I might have to put her back, honestly…) so some mutuals just started calling me Anathema, which I find absolutely delightful. Every time y’all call me Anathema, it makes me smile! But if you’re not from the Good Omens fandom or think that’s just too long of a name, y’all can call me J 💕
Us safety: For my U.S. friends… #us safety is a tag I reblog resources under, particularly those that will be useful due to the current administration. I use us safety, rather than U.S., because community has to be strong right now. We need to be there for and support one another while our communities are under attack. So yes, these are resources for the U.S., but mostly… for us and our communities. Stay safe out here, y’all.
Good Omens: So as is probably clear by now, I’m in the Good Omens fandom. So disclaimer (and TW for NG): I took a break after the truth about Gaiman was released. As someone who has been SAed more than once, I took some time to re-contextualice what Good Omens means to me. These characters have meant so much to me through some tough shit, and I’ve met so many wonderful people here I never would have met otherwise. This beautiful queer space of creativity and art expands so far beyond him, this space is a living entity separate from him at this point. My interactions with this fandom have taught me so much; it is a community of beautifully wise and artistic souls. I refuse to let someone like NG taint or otherwise take that away from me, especially such a lovely space that has grown to mean so much.
Fandom Things: I love everybody’s beautiful passion projects in fandom! Expect Good Omens fan art, fics, metas, and goodness knows what else. Occasionally, when the stars align and the moon is right, I’ll write my own little metas and mini fics. I’ve written one short oneshot (<1k) on Ao3 called Scared Together that you can find here, although I’m working on a long wip I haven’t posted but hope to finish eventually. Other fandoms I adore include Percy Jackson and Marvel, although Marvel posting is very rare (mostly just any time there’s something to do with Spider-Man, if I’m honest. Yes I have a Peter Parker tag for these!) I have some Spider-Man fics I’ve written on my Ao3 as well, although I wrote those while in high school so please be kind 💕
I do love a good angst, particularly with a happy ending! Expect fluff but also heavy angst on this blog at times. The angsty artwork I’ve found here is so unbelievably beautiful, you artists are incredible ❤️
What Else to Expect: I’m a sucker for some hobbity cottage core witch aesthetic, so I do love reblogging wholesome nature pictures and cute cottages! I have a soft spot for geology and paleontology, so occasionally I’ll nerd out about rocks/fossil/oceanography etc. Pink is my favorite color, so yes I bring some Disney Princess/Barbie vibe to this whole thing (if they were queer. And Mexican. And cussed a lot, and engaged in activism… I’m a princess but punk lol). And I really am a witch and practicing bruja, so I do post about magick and brujería! I have a witchcraft and bruja tag.
Demographic stuff and things: I’m femme af, like seriously. I’m talking yes-I-have-pink-lace-curtains femme. I am a student in social science and get to study queer theory, and I bring up aro and ace identities as much as possible in class! If the curriculum will not include us, you can be sure I’ll wiggle some aspec themes into my class work and assignments. I’m aromantic asexual to be specific, shoutout to my aspecs. I have been known to get out of class and jump on tumblr to talk about queer theory things… Sometimes I post a ton of romance stuff, and then just avoid it for a bit, I guess it’s in flux. Idk, this blog is at the whim of wherever my aroace-ness is that day. We’re just going to roll with it 😊
I also just learned I’m ADHD, just to throw a little neurospice in here too! I do have a mental health, neurodivergent and adhd tag for things I’ve been learning and finding helpful, or even just humorous.
Radical Hope and Eco Punk: I do also study and care deeply for the environment. I’m a nature/gardens/ocean girly, through and through. I also strongly believe in the importance of community care. I’m learning more and more about punk from this website, which has been all too intriguing. I will occasionally post about environmental activism, including the fun bits like seed bombs or climate optimism. I do think we need to shift the climate narrative, from one of doom and gloom to one of hope. I’m a big believer in hope punk, hopecore and radical hope, just as a movement in and of itself. (Thank you @queer-reader-07 for teaching me so much about that.) Hope is resistance! You can look under the tags hopepunk, hopecore, radical hope, ecopunk and solarpunk for all these sorts of posts.
That’s all for now, I’ll probably update this more as time goes on. I want not just my blog, but everything in my life to make space for softness and hope. I would like this to be a space of warmth and kindness. Note that I do still cuss like a sailor, we do not believe that hope/softness=purity and perfect language here. Fuck that noise, lol!
Love to you all, thanks for being here. To our world *toasts with tea 🫖 and apple juice 🧃*
