As much as I absolutely hate Luni as both a developer and a person, I will forever glaze the Lunime Gacha series of apps as an amazing resource for beginner creatives. The Gacha games have all influenced my art so much and I probably would not be where I am without them. So, yeah, thank you Luni, but at the same time, fuck you.

I am at around 16.3K total words in the document that I'm working in and am currently writing for the analysis of WTIT.
I apologize for the long hiatus of working on it, I have just been extremely busy. I've been working for 7-8 hours 5 days a week at an extremely energy draining job and have just not had the time to actually sit down and write. Not to mention, I'm juggling two other big personal projects (those being script writing for my indie animated series, and making 2D models of the characters from that series to use for animations) so when I actually do have the time to sit down and work on those projects, i have to pick between the two, and the indie animated series that's been my passion project for almost half a decade now usually wins over the essay I'm making for fun. I will be resuming writing for the essay soon though, and will also be attempting to balance my personal projects better.

Abi's TADC Episode 9/TADC The Last Act Review (Full Spoilers)
Okay, just like I said in my one previous post, here is my comprehensive review of the last episode of TADC, episode 9: Remember, aka TADC The Last Act. First before we start, a few disclaimers.
Disclaimer 1: This is my opinion, and this review is all for fun and not to be taken like it's life or death. If you disagree with anything I say in this review, either respectfully discuss it in the reblogs or keep it to yourself. Also, please let me know if you'd like me to do any kind of review of other pieces of media. I'd love to do this with other media that I'm interested in.
Disclaimer 2: I will be referring to Jax with the pronouns provided in the canon of the series (he/him) throughout this review. If you do not like this, either replace the pronouns with your preferred pronouns for him in your mind or don't continue to read this review. Hateful messages and comments will not be tolerated. Transphobia will also not be tolerated. My blog is not a safe space for transphobia, end of discussion. If you try to be transphobic in my notes, I will come for your kneecaps.
Disclaimer 3: This review is a review of the entirety of episode 9 and will have full spoilers for the episode. If you do not want spoilers, either don't read this, or watch the episode first before continuing.
Now that that's accounted for, let's get into it.
The episode first opens with a updated version of the pilot's episode, updated to fit everything that has just happened within the entire series. I do really love this opening. It's a very nice full circle moment that really brings the series together. Unfortunately, the episode just goes downhill after this...
After the opener, the episode starts where episode 8 left off, with the group in a broken down circus after Caine is deleted, with Kinger revealing that they're all brain scans (aka, confirming the SOMA theory). Now, as much as I hate Jax and really hate his reactions here, I really appreciate that they made him have a more different reaction to the news that Kinger accidentally deleted Caine than the others. I feel like it makes the whole thing a little more realistic than if they had just had him cry like the others did. Not everyone is going to have the same reaction to bad news and it would be unrealistic if they did. AS for SOMA theory being confirmed... This shit was the most predictable thing ever. "Oh, the ending is going to be so unpredictable! No one is going to guess it!" Unpredictable, my ass. This trope has been used so many times in so many different pieces of media, it is one of the most predictable things on the planet. It's so predictable in fact, that MatPat was able to predict it with just the FUCKING PILOT of the show. Not to mention, it literally defeats the purpose of episode 7 being a subversion of all the fan theories. By making a fan theory canon in the last episode, you effectively defeat the purpose and impact of episode 7. Also, Jax, you have no place to taunt Ragatha with her abusive mother when you also have an abusive mother, you hypocritical piece of shit.
After their initial reactions to the information provided by Kinger, we next get a scene of Kinger teaching the others (mainly Pomni) how to summon objects in order to fix the circus. I really like this scene. I enjoy Kinger's more fatherly dynamic with the others in the circus, so it's nice to get more content with this dynamic. Kinger is literally one of the best characters in this series. Also, as much as I don't really like the story in this episode (which I'll get into in the next few paragraphs of the review, especially once Pomni goes into Jax's mind), I can still give a lot of compliments to the animation. This episode is really pretty in a lot of parts. The animators did a really good job with the visual development and style throughout the series and it's really evolved into something spectacular in this last episode. Unfortunately, good animation and pretty pictures doesn't save you from horrible writing, so let's get back into the story.
After the montage with the group minus Jax fixing the circus happens, Jax abstracts off screen. Okay, this actually pisses me off. Not because I liked Jax or because I'm sad he's dead now, but because this has got to be the laziest way to kill off a character. Instead of getting some kind of death scene, we go from a shot of Pomni walking away from the camera to a shot of Pomni, Ragatha, and Zooble looking over a balcony at Jax's abstraction. That is some fucking lazy ass writing that pisses me off. It also pisses me off because it's clear that Gooseworx wanted the audience to have some kind of sympathy or upset feelings for Jax, but this just doesn't do anything for me or a majority of the audience. If you really wanted Jax's death to have more emotional impact, you'd actually write a sad compelling death scene for him. The reason why people cry during character death scenes is because the writers actually take time to create emotional impact through both the reaction of the character who dies and the people around them. A really good example of this is Peter Parker/Spider-Man's death in Infinity War. The reason why a lot of people cried to that scene is not just because of Tony Stark/Iron Man's reaction to it, but also because of Peter Parker/Spider-Man's reaction before he died. The way you make a character's death more emotionally impactful, is by showing everyone's reaction to the death including the dead character's reaction in their final moments. If you just kill them off screen and jump cut to the reactions of the other characters, you effectively destroy the emotional impact of the character's death.
As for the cast's reactions to Jax's abstraction, I don't have much of a problem with them. I've seen a few people have a problem with Gangle's reaction in particular and her being confused about why she can't cry for him even though he's abused her since she's gotten to the circus, but I personally don't have a problem with it. It's a perfectly valid reaction, especially considering the fact that death is confusing and comes with so many implications and consequences for the people the person who died left behind. It's valid to have conflicting feelings about the death of someone, even when that person was an abusive piece of shit towards you, so Gangle being conflicted and questioning why she can't cry for Jax is perfectly fine in my eyes. As for the other reactions of the cast, I think they're also fine. Any reaction to death is a valid reaction, whether it be celebration, crying, anger, disappointment, etc. Everyone has different relationships/dynamics/opinions about everyone else, so everyone is going to have a different reaction to someone dying depending on how they knew the person and what their past was with that person.
After the scene with the others reacting to Jax's death happens, we next get the scene of Pomni hunting down Jax's abstraction and entering Jax's mind and this is where the episode starts to fall apart for me. In Jax's mind, we get a montage of how Jax feels about the circus cast members, delivered in the form of alternate universes where Jax interacts with one character after a different character is abstracted. All of these interactions in Jax's mind are fucking horrible, and just go to show how abusive Jax is. You can't even excuse these reactions with "oh, but they're in Jax's mind! They're intrusive thoughts, this isn't how Jax would really react!" because all throughout the show, Jax has been shown to be an abusive asshole to practically everyone around him, especially the female/female presenting/AFAB people in the circus. You can't say that Jax would definitely not react in the way he does in his mind because he has done nothing in this entire series that would warrant the trust that he wouldn't commit these actions. Also, Pomni... How can you still defend and comfort this guy after literally watching him choke you out in his mind??? Also, GODDDDD, I HATE the scene with him and Gangle. How can you Jax defenders all seriously watch this scene and still say that Jax is not a sexual abuser after watching him literally sexually abuse Gangle. This guy is a misogynistic, bigoted, woman abuser who sexually, emotionally, mentally, and physically preys on all the woman/AFAB people in the circus and you all seriously don't see a problem with that??? What the actual fuck? I do like the Looney Tunes reference with the Jax and Zooble scene though. That was funny, I liked that.
After the three scenes with Jax abusing Pomni and Gangle and Looney Tunes-ing Zooble, we next get the scene with the four Jax's playing poker. Maid Jax apparently uses the f-slur in this scene but I don't know if it's actually the slur or if he actually says something else because the YouTube captions caption it as a full bleep while the Netflix captions caption it as "(bleep/fuck) it" instead, so IDK how to feel about that... If was actually the slur however, that was extremely unnecessary and unwarranted. Especially considering the fact that Jax can't even use that slur since he is not implied to be a gay man (or even a man at all which we will get to soon). "This whole episode's been nothing but wah wah wah" Yeah, and I hate it. No one cares about your crybaby backstory, you abuser. Anyway, after the Jaxes at the poker table die, the piano Jax gives Pomni the key to the Ribbit room, and this scene is what heightens my hate for Jax.
This scene is awful. It basically tells the story of how Jax got to the circus and how his relationship with Ribbit developed positively before going south. This scene is basically the epitome of the "crybaby Jax has a sad backstory that causes him to do bad things! You have to feel bad for him even though we give you no reason to!" that drags the series and Jax's character down to hell for me. In a previous post I made (which you can read here), I detailed my main issue with Jax's character and how the narrative expects you to sympathize with him despite not caring to give him any traits that would make him able to be sympathized with. The trope that Jax falls under, which I like to call the hurt people hurt people trope or the Laplace's Angel trope as a reference to the Will Wood song of the same title refers to a archetype of character that has gone through some kind of hurt or trauma from some event in their life, the actions of another character, or just the general unfairness of the world. In order to cope with this hurt and trauma, the Laplace's Angel will usually turn towards abusing/mistreating the other people around them, usually defending their actions with the excuse of "if you went though the same things they did, you'd do the same". The most popular example of the Laplace's Angel is the abused becoming the abuser, which is what Jax falls under. Usually, when the narrative wants you to sympathize with the Laplace's Angel, it will give you at least one sympathetic trait in which to sympathize with them. For example, Bojack Horseman. Now, I've never personally watched the series since it's just personally not my taste in animated shows, but I am in spaces where discussion of this series happens, and every single video I've seen discussing his character has agreed that he is not a good person but he has sympathetic traits, which is why you're able to have some kind of twisted sympathy for him when he's at his lowest. Another example of the Laplace's Angel would be Janus and Remus Sanders from Sanders Sides. The two are both placed in antagonistic roles and shown to have antagonistic traits but they're also shown to have a genuine love for C!Thomas and have some sympathetic traits which is why you're able to sympathize with them during their angst moments. Another good example of the Laplace's Angel would be Clark from the Backrooms. In the movie, Clark is shown to be a horrible person who drags himself and the people around him down his own path of self destruction, yet you're able to have some kind of twisted sympathy for him because he's shown to have sympathetic traits.
When I was first watching this scene I was partly hoping that they would give Jax at least one sympathetic trait which would make him a better written Laplace's Angel and amend some of my problems with his character and make me have some kind of twisted sympathy for him like others can have for characters like Bojack Horseman and Clark from the Backrooms, but that never happens. All throughout the flashback, Jax is shown to be an asshole towards the people around him with no sympathetic traits whatsoever. The second he starts to get close to someone or opens up to them, he starts to abuse them for no reason at all other than he's insecure and can't handle his feelings like a normal fucking person. "You're manipulating me!" BRO, SHUT THE ACTUAL FUCK UP, OH MY GOD. Jesus Christ, this character pisses me off so bad. I also hate how Ribbit turned out to basically be a nothing burger of a character and only there as a beta version of Pomni meant to service as nothing more than a plot device to Jax's backstory and how Kaufmo basically turned out to be the same thing minus being a beta version of Pomni. Also-
I fucking HATE trans fem Jax. Oh my god, what a fucking asspull that was barely ever built up to. Not to mention it's building off the horrible stereotypical trope of the trans fem character being abusive and horrible and misogynistic to the other woman around her because she's insecure and jealous that she'll never be a real woman like them. This trope is so insanely harmful and needs to die. It's not like I don't like queer villains or queer antagonists either. Not every queer person is going to be an angel who can do no wrong and writing every queer person that way is unrealistic and not good representation. There are also a good few queer characters who are complex or villainous, like Clarence from Final Space, Ash Graven from Final Space, Remus Sanders from Sanders Sides, and Harley Quinn from DC, but dear god, this particular trope is awful and plays into such a harmful, transphobic stereotype for trans woman/trans fem people.
Also, OH MY GOD, the Isn't She Lovely montage... I don't want a poorly made TikTok edit in my fucking indie animated series. If I wanted to watch a TikTok edit, I would open up TikTok. Also, it's so fucking crazy to not only use a song created by a black man about his newborn daughter and asking the world to be kind to her for your bigoted edgy abuser oc who is an adult, but to also use a cover of a non-black man instead of the original version when both you and your cast have so many racism and anti-black allegations towards you. "Oh, but they probably couldn't get the rights to use the original version of the song!" THEN GET A BLACK PERSON TO COVER THE SONG. IT'S SO FUCKING SIMPLE TO NOT BE RACIST AND TO NOT APPROPRIATE BLACK ART AND VOICES. I know I'm not the best person to talk about this subject since I'm not black, but I have friends who are black and whose lives are affected by racism every day and it really pisses me off to see people be so blatantly racist as it is not only a systematic problem that affects their every day lives but the every day lives of people like them as well. Someone please get Stevie Wonder away from Gooseworx's racist ass and her racist ass cast, please, I beg, oh my fucking god, I am actually pissed off.
Any fucking way, after that bullshit, the cast puts Jax's abstraction into a giant pillow fort, Gangle finally cries, Zooble comforts her, and then the others sit in the couch area and have a discussion with each other. After that scene wraps up, Caine just randomly comes back. Now, as much as I love this scene, love Caine, and am glad that he's not actually dead, I'm really disappointed with how his return was handled. Instead of having the cast go on some quest to save him, explaining how he's back, or explaining what the fuck happened to allow him to come back, he just randomly appears back in the circus like nothing happened. The scene where he comes back is really beautifully animated and a really beautiful symbol of Caine learning from his mistakes and learning how to be more human and grow past his mistakes, but being pretty is not an excuse for how poorly implemented this scene is. Not to mention the fact that he gets NO FUCKING APOLOGY from anyone for what happened in episode 8. No apology for everything they said to him that caused him to lash out. No apology for accidentally deleting him. No apology for treating him like shit. Nothing. Caine wasn't the only person at fault for his lash out in episode 8, the humans also had a part in it, but instead of mutually apologizing to each other and admitting their faults, Caine just apologizes to the others and the narrative dismisses the human's actions towards Caine as nothing that was needed to be apologized for. No. That is wrong. The humans were as much in the wrong as Caine was, yet Caine gets no fucking apology at all.
After Caine comes back and apologizes, he shows the others what their real world counterparts are doing. This is pretty sweet. I kinda like it even though the SOMA theory being canon is still predictable as shit. Also, "he looks like he's a good dad" OH MY GOD, MY HEART </3 AUGH. After the whole reactions to their real world counterparts, Caine says that he's going to keep the worlds open, and the cast resolves to make the circus better for everyone. We then get a montage of that. Then after the credits, we get an after credits scene with the cast's real world counterparts getting onto a bus (really slowly might I add. Oh my god, as someone who takes public transport, these assholes really gotta pick up the pace and pay their fares faster. People got places to be and the bus is on a schedule, you all really cannot be holding up the bus like that).
Overall, even though there are parts that I enjoyed, I am still really disappointed in this finale and how it turned out. There's still so many unanswered questions that we'll never get the answers to. What happened to Bubble? What is the blue dot? Is it Abel or some other entity entirely? Remember when Gooseworx said that everyone in the circus deserves to be there? What the fuck did Ragatha, Gangle, and Zooble do to deserve to be in the circus. I can understand why Jax deserves to be there as well as partly Kinger since he helped create the thing and kinda Pomni since she seems to have a problem with being an enabler to abuse, but the only "reason" I can see for Ragatha, Gangle, and Zooble to be there is because they're insecure. What happened to the other people who first entered the circus with Kinger? As a matter of fact, who the fuck are the other people who entered the circus with Kinger besides Queenie and Scratch? There's so many other unanswered questions. And I get it, you're not entitled to know everything about a fictional world. Some questions are going to go unanswered since you're just a guest in this world. You don't own it, so therefore you don't need to know everything, but you can't just leave important questions like this unanswered. That's not good writing. The questions about a world that you can leave unanswered are usually questions that either all the characters don't know or are usually not important and built up to enough that they absolutely need to be answered. Adventure Time, for example, leaves a lot of unanswered questions about its world in the base series. This never feels like bad writing however, as the questions are either not known by the characters or not built up to. TADC's unanswered questions, on the other hand, are Chekhov's guns that are left unfired and just lying around everywhere in service of giving more screen time to the writer's edgy self insert, and it sucks. I have so many conflicting feelings about this finale, but I think the one I most side with is that the writing just fell flat.
Anyway, that was my review of TADC episode 9: Remember, aka TADC The Last Act. Now that I'm done with the series, I will be taking my leave. This fandom is an actual dumpster fire in hell, and I am done with interacting with it. I may post one or two posts about it infrequently in the future if I feel like it, but for the most part I am taking my leave here. Thanks for reading this yappathon of a review. Been watching Brain Dump cause I got bored and kept getting clips of it on my TikTok FYP…
It’s crazy how Brain Dump Max G is a better example of the hurt people hurt people trope (or what I like to refer to as the Laplace’s Angel trope because haha Will Wood reference) than Jax TADC (and arguably a better character in general)
So, today during work I was letting my mind do the normal wander around and maladaptive daydream/think about shit while I autopilot my tasks that I usually do, and the topic that kept coming up frequently was TADC (because I've been getting a lot of videos on my TikTok FYP about the finale and all the drama and controversy surrounding it). More specifically, the topic of Jax and why his character never worked for me despite me liking characters that are similar to him (aka, asshole characters who on the surface act like assholes because they just like acting that way, while deep down having a lot of internal struggles and/or baggage from a bad past), and I think I've finally cracked the answer.
I do not like Jax despite liking a few characters that fall under his archetype because he is not shown to be sympathetic.
To explain my point, I am going to use a character from my own indie animated series that I am currently scripting (The Circus of Sinners) to do so. This character's name is Francis Hellenboren. Now, Francis in many ways is pretty similar to Jax. He is an asshole who tends to not moralize often. He acts on his own whims and impulses, despite what other people may think or feel about him, and doesn't obey any authority figures to a chaotic degree, and one of the main reasons he acts like this is due to his horrible past and his imposter syndrome with his humanity, making him believe he is less than human. A lot of what he does is because he is trying to cope with his anger towards the world and how he's been treated and made out to be a monster that is unworthy of truly being loved. While he isn't as outright abusive and manipulative as Jax, he's still an antagonist and still not a perfect person. Despite being similar characters however, I and many of the people I've shared him with can still sympathize with Francis and still like him and enjoy his character. This is because, unlike Jax, Francis is shown to have positive traits along with his negative ones. Throughout the series, during both the main story and the backstory/flashback episodes, Francis is shown to be extremely caring towards the people he loves, energetic, passionate, loyal, and also extremely kind before his heart was hardened by the world. By balancing his flaws, negative traits, wrongdoings, and unsympathetic moments with his strengths, positive traits, rightdoings, and sympathetic moments, Francis is established as a sympathetic character which makes him more lovable and makes the audience root for him and want him to get better. His tragic past and struggles are also never used to excuse his actions, rather they are used to explain why he acts like that and why he is the way that he is.
Compare this to Jax, someone who also acts like an asshole on the surface because they find it funny but deep down has a lot of baggage due to internal struggles and a bad past, and you can see how his character just doesn't work in the light that TADC is trying to paint him in. I can probably count the amount of positive traits that Jax is shown to have throughout the series on my hands and even that might be an overstatement. Throughout the series, Jax is only ever shown to have negative traits and flaws and negative interactions with the rest of the cast, especially Gangle, and whenever he is shown to have positive traits or positive interactions with the rest of the cast they are very few and far between. Throughout the duration of the series, Jax is shown to be an antagonist of sorts and to be an abuser. Despite this however, the series still expects you to sympathize with him by throwing multiple angst moments with him in your face where he gets upset at something that is said or done to him or something that happens and either he leaves the situation or the cast starts to baby him, basically making it feel like the series is saying "aww! Look at this! Jax is sad! Don't you feel bad for him? Don't you feel so much sympathy?", and it just doesn't work because he isn't shown to be a sympathetic character or a character that is worth of any sympathy. Instead of feeling sympathy for Jax, the audience instead feels annoyed and hates him because he isn't shown to be someone worthy of sympathy. Throughout the series, it also seems like Jax's bad past and struggles are used as a way to excuse his actions rather than explain them.
This is also why I can sympathize with Caine and not with Jax, because again, Caine is shown to have positive traits and strengths along with his negative traits and flaws, and his bad past and struggles are used to explain his actions, not excuse them. Throughout the series, Caine is shown to be genuinely passionate about the things he creates, and to have a genuine love for humans while also tending to be pretty egotistical and tending not to listen to other people when they criticize him or give him feedback. Despite his flaws however, I and many others can still sympathize with him because his negative traits are balanced with his positive traits (and he is also shown to try to make a positive change to try to stop hurting the people around him).
That's why I think that I do not like Jax despite liking some characters from his archetype.
IDK if I'm gonna interact with the TADC fandom, or TADC as a whole, after I watch the finale. I'm so disappointed and pissed off about everything and all the stuff that's come out about Gooseworx being a racist Nazi sympathizer and most of the cast being some kind of horrible/problematic has killed most of my love for the show.
I'm going to watch the finale when it comes out on YouTube to get closure on the series I followed and loved since the pilot and to support the all the talented (not racist) people who worked on the show, but after that I'm probably going to take my leave and support other indie animation projects like the Knights of Guinevere, Pretty Please I Don't Want to Be a Magical Girl, and On Being Blue
Look, we all know Roman talks in his sleep. It's canon, DWIT, It's old news, whatever.
But Remus?
This, now this is a man who sleepwalks. Not like "oh haha I woke up outside haha silly me haha XD" No.
This man wakes up and he's in Janus' bed. When did he get there? How? Nobody knows. All they know is he went to sleep in his own room, and woke up in someone elses.
Half the reason Virgil left was because he'd wake up with mister Cling-Wrap over here suctioned to his side at like 4am.
Janus has tried many methods to stop it, it never works. Remus has no issues with being treated like a damn werewolf on a full moon, chained down, locked up, the whole nine yards, he doesn't care. He likes it, even, claims he sleeps better that way.
It never works. Not. Once. Janus has even locked his own damn door, put a fucking bookshelf infront of it. Didn't work, he woke up, and stinky boy was right there, dead asleep, wrapped around him.
Janus even once conjured a snake to watch over Remus the whole night, because he was convinced Remus was doing this on purpose, because there was just no way he got himself out of all of that in his sleep.
He was, in fact, solidy asleep, the whole time. Dead. Fucking. Asleep.
It's impossible, the shit he can go through just to cling to someone else. Batshit insane.
It wouldn't even be that bad, really, if he didn't snore so damn loud. Not to mention the screaming.
He reeks, but Janus, even Virgil, got accustomed to it after some time, but the snoring?? There's no sleeping through that. Borderline screaming. And then he actually does scream. A lot. Like so much. Every night, blood curdling screeching right into your ear. Every night.
Janus hasn't slept soundly in years and it's most of the reason he's so pissed at Virgil for leaving because at least then they alternated, because yeah, sleepwalking Remus kept a schedule.
If you still interact with anything Harry Potter related in 2026 I am going to automatically assume you are a bad person.
"But it's my special interest/hyperfixation!" Guess what. Harry Potter was my special interest/hyperfixation too. I loved that shit in middle school and half of high school. Do you know what I did as soon as I found out about JKR's shitty morals? I limited myself from the franchise and didn't allow myself to interact with it at all until I completely lost interest. If I (someone who does not give up their special interests lightly) can distance myself from the franchise, so can you.
"But it's my childhood!" As someone who clings to shit from their childhood like crazy to the point where they still have Dora shit in their room, I've given up multiple things from my childhood, you can give up this one franchise.
"Separate art from artist!" You cannot physically separate art from artist if that artist still profits from said art and uses that profit to cause harm to multiple groups of people. It's also impossible to separate JKR from Harry Potter because JKR's shitty views and morals are the DNA of the series. Harry Potter would not be the same without many of the bigotted beliefs that JKR holds.
"I don't spend any money on Harry Potter! I just pirate everything!" You shouldn't be interacting with Harry Potter even if you don't give JKR a penny. Interacting with/talking about Harry Potter still spreads the franchise around and still gives JKR profit.

As much as I love how interactive the decorations you can put on your island in Tomodachi Life Living the Dream is unlike another Nintendo switch game that takes place on a customizable island (*cough cough* Animal Crossing New Horizons *cough cough*), they should have really not let the Miis turn off the streetlights. I cannot tell you how many streetlights I have had to replace because my Miis won’t stop fucking with them. I’ve lost track at this point. Then these pieces of shit have the gall to try to complain about how it’s so dark at night, like- motherfucker, YOU ARE THE REASON IT’S SO DARK AT NIGHT. Quit fucking with the lights and maybe it’ll be brighter at night.
