The 13th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 13th August 2026.

It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

And I wasn't supposed to be here anymore, after I tried putting myself back in the closet very literally and permanently that October over 10 years ago.

What the fuck happens that changes these stats to such a massive degree?

1) schizophrenia hardly ever causes people to be violent so schizophrenic people aren’t more likely to be violent than anyone else

2) schizophrenic people’s autonomy is often taken away from them because of their schizophrenia. because the authorities and mental healthcare providers often automatically assume schizophrenic people to be violent, they’re more likely to immediately react to schizophrenic people's symptoms with violence, without even knowing for sure said schizophrenic person was going to be violent. all of this causes schizophrenic people to be more likely of being victims of violence and abuse. schizophrenic people also have a harder time getting out of abusive households because of the risk of their autonomy being taken away. if a schizophrenic person’s relative or partner is abusive, often the schizophrenic person has no way out of the situation, both because our disconnect from reality can result in us being easier to manipulate, and because the system is built in a way that it takes away our autonomy because of our condition.

as of the end of TDA & the beginning of TWP, kit is staying with jem, tessa & mina who are members of the Carstairs family

what is the symbol of the Carstairs family, class?

that’s right, it’s a castle

and, in chess, the Rook can protect the King with a move called ‘castling’

if it was possible i'd erase all my memories of the tid trilogy just so i could read it for the first time again and i'd do it over and over for the rest of my life. i'd never get tired of having my heart broken by will herondale and jem carstairs.

I’m rereading the Infernal Devices rn and I was reminded of just how hilarious the scene in Clockwork Prince where Magnus pretends to be having a fling with Will to make Camille jealous is. And not just because it’s a funny scene, but because THIS is the moment that lays the groundwork for Malec’s relationship problems in the second TMI trilogy. THIS is the moment that has Alec completely crashing out. All because Magnus wants to make Camille jealous so he makes up a little white lie.

And boy does it work. She’s so bitter about the fact Magnus ‘chose’ a Shadowhunter boy that literally a CENTURY later she brings it up again, probably knowing full well the actual Shadowhunter boy that he’s dating was listening behind the door. She is so bothered that SHE notices how Alec looks like Will (because they are literally related but neither she nor Alec know that, which makes the whole thing look even WORSE) when Magnus had never even realized. She still fully thought that Magnus did in fact have a fling with Will. And Alec crashes out over it so hard that it pushes him over the edge from simply being insecure to contemplating taking away Magnus’s immortality.

Poor Magnus literally had no idea that this was going to come back and bite him. He even considers it Will’s ‘payment’ for all of the work he did to find Will’s demon. Just a tiny little favor Will did for him. Nothing more. Literally probably thought nothing of it for YEARS, having no idea this little scheme would nearly destroy his relationship.

AND WILL! His little sister’s angsty, insecure teenage descendent resents him and is all bend out of shape about a ‘help me make my ex jealous’ act that WILL DOESN’T EVEN REMEMBER! I can’t 😭😂
