GPOY me and my girlfriend <3
I saw this one post ages ago where someone said that video games can’t have plus-size characters, because “how could they do cool action?” I can’t find the post, but it inspired me to show you guys some gifs of real people.
That dude landing on his neck gives me peak anxiety
The IATSE just voted to strike!
Support them by signing this petition- they're going into negotiations before actually striking, and having proof of support from the public will increase their power in those negotiations.
From IATSE's website:
"Throughout the bargaining process, the AMPTP has failed to work with us on addressing the most grievous problems in their workplaces, including:
Excessively unsafe and harmful working hours.
Unlivable wages for the lowest paid crafts.
Consistent failure to provide reasonable rest during meal breaks, between workdays, and on weekends.
Workers on certain “new media” streaming projects get paid less, even on productions with budgets that rival or exceed those of traditionally released blockbusters.
It is incomprehensible that the AMPTP, an ensemble that includes media mega-corporations collectively worth trillions of dollars, claims it cannot provide behind-the-scenes crews with basic human necessities like adequate sleep, meal breaks, and living wages. Worse, management does not appear to even recognize our core issues as problems that exist in the first place."
These are basic rights they're fighting for; support them by signing the petition now, and don't be a scab once they start the strike!
Please sign petition, and support the strikers!
I don't think abled bodied people realize how much energy it takes to sleep

if you got like a 100kilo bag of glitter and opened it up and left it in the path of like a tornado i think that would be interesting. i dont care abt ecological damage btw

thyrell.

Every time I get groceries I’m always appalled at how little you can get for like, $20. I was making banana pudding so I needed vanilla wafers but the brand name nilla wafers cost $4 a box. The minimum wage in my state is $7.25/hr. My friend put it really well when he said “imagine you work for an hour and someone hands you two boxes of nilla wafers and said ‘actually this is a bit more than what I owe you’”
Nina Simone didn’t play no games when it came to her money 😂

i am aware that this piece of mine has been re-posted a thousand times, but now you can re-blog it from the original artist! :~D
sometimes there’s videos that make me happy to exist on this planet
i’d reblog this even if it was a still image
I know it’s a sesame street clip but seriously, who is the target audience for this?
Parents watching it with their kids, I guess?
literally everyone
Everyone. No, really… everyone.
For adults, the appeal is Sir Patrick Stewart doing a kid’s educational bit in full Shakespearean dress and style; there’s a delightful cognitive dissonance between the very serious presentation and the very simple content.
For very small children, it’s educational: this is the letter “B”; here’s how it’s shaped; here’s some words you know that start with it. Oh, and here’s a word you may not be familiar with that starts with it, so you can recognize that it’s the sound that matters, and not whatever other connection you made between the other two words.
For older kids: you’ve probably heard that “to be or not to be?” speech, or at least part of it, so you can enjoy some of the parody the adults are watching. Also, here’s how to describe how a letter is made - how to teach young siblings who don’t read yet, how to explain both the shape and the sound.
For kids with dyslexia: here’s how you differentiate a “B” from a P or D or E. You may have to go slowly and look carefully at the exact shapes that make up the whole, but there are differences and you can learn to recognize them.
For teens or young college students: In addition to whichever parts of those are relevant to you, here’s what Shakespearean acting sounds like. Here’s how to enunciate clearly and slowly, so your audience can understand terms they may not recognize and still follow the gist of what you’re saying. If you’re reading Shakespeare in school, try sounding it out like this and see if that helps it make sense.
For new RenFaire workers: Here’s how to pronounce “zounds.”
One of the most glorious things in the world is Shakespearean actors doing stuff like this.
If begineth even be a word
Caption: [Okay, so this is my Wooloo cosplay from 2019. Umm. I don't know if y'all can see the back. I made everything, even the resin pieces, the little clay hearts. I knitted those bows. Crocheted the headpiece and my bonnet.
I crocheted and knitted everything, yes! It is both crochet and knit. I also made my staff. And I did the clay stuff. So yes, just for anyone that's gonna ask me did I make this myself, yes. But also! I just wanna show off how cute I am.]
Historically, when performing long, repetitive tasks like churning butter or weaving cloth, people would sit together and tell stories. Folk stories, fairytales, and even stories about mysterious ape-like figures living in the forests. So, yes, pioneer women did listen to podcasts about bigfoot while churning butter
Why listen to podcasts about bigfoot, when you can wave to him from across the field?
“AFAB people tend to-” “AMAB people tend to-” STOP! Stop you are not being observant or insightful you’re literally just inventing gender stereotypes again. Shut up jesus christ
controversial take maybe but disabled people reporting workers (underpaid or not) for being ableist towards them e.g. literally endangering their health and safety is not "problematic" even if you see it as antithetical to leftism lol like if u seriously expect disabled people (especially those w/o jobs and/or are on benefits) to just sit there and stomach violence being enacted against them for the sake of working class solidarity or w/e then fuck you honestly.
i'm mostly referencing physical impairment here but breaking a mobility aid, exposing ppl to deadly allergens or other triggers that could kill them, etc. are serious things. mobility aids are often expensive and an absolute necessity for many disabled ppl. ignoring ppl's dietary needs because you're lazy and that resulting in someone having an attack or any episode that lands them in the hospital isn't some simple mistake. disabled people's lives and wellbeing are not a game. this isn't just a matter of comfort and convenience bc ur negligence could injure or kill someone. take ableism seriously for fuck's sake.
