Nuts that holograms can be solid in Star Trek but nobody uses this to it’s full potential

I got my hands on a first edition copy from Thriftbooks and decided to use a sticky tab every time something "spirk" happened

Star Trek Beyond sets up the concept of a going-away party well, when Bones, shocked that Spock is thinking of leaving, tries to lighten the mood by saying “I mean, me, on the other hand, I’d throw a party.” At the end of the movie, though, the party is one of togetherness and actual celebration, as Kirk, Spock, Bones, and the rest of the crew pledge to head out together one more time.

But what if it was a goodbye party?

What if Bones, making good on his desire to throw a party, decides that both Jim and Spock deciding to leave without telling him, abandoning him to space, is the last straw, and it’s time for him to go before it happens again? Jim said, “What would I do without you, Spock?” He didn’t say it about Bones. They’ll be fine.

What if, three hours into the party, nobody knows where Bones is? He’s not there - maybe he’s signed up for a transfer to a covert medical mission, maybe it’s something else, but he’s gone, strained plausibility be damned.

Luckily for the crew, the mysterious necklace Bones is wearing at the party was also set up earlier in the film: perhaps it’s also a tracking device, secretly given in a box that says, “Thanks for saving our lives,” by a Vulcan who thought it would be entertaining to see the look on his face when he figured out what it was.

Will they be able to catch him? Find out in our next instalment, Star Trek AOS 4: The Search For Bones. Or, perhaps, Star Trek AOS 4: The Voyage Bones.
