in a dream you saw a way to survive and you were full of joy
every day i get a little madder about the âdream jobâ narrative⌠all i want is to have a job that benefits society somewhat, doesnât abuse me, and lets me live a happy life outside of my job lol. jobs should not be (and arguably canât be) cosmic destinies and identities

I really do not think the average person understands how different the training resources and access are for a cis man playing sports vs everyone else. I wrote an article last month about how until 2020 they were given the Swedish womenâs national hockey team expired protein bars for tournaments and only five practices leading up to it. More often than not people who arenât cis able bodied men playing a sport do not have equipment properly fitted to them. Womenâs teams do just straight up get less court or field or ice time. Coaches and trainers will refuse to train you on certain things because they just assume you cannot do something.
Idk. We have seen the athletic accomplishments of cis men come very far in the past century as they got more specialized training and the sports industry as a whole grew. Yet People still really think physical advancements and progression can only be done by cis men, and the the upper limit of whatâs been recorded by everyone else is this permanent, unmovable thing. For a long time people thought it was impossible for a woman to do a triple axel until it happened.
My hope for whoever is reading this is that your life starts making sense and coming together. I hope the good days are right around the corner for you.

the fact is that while it is true that in âa muppet christmas carolâ kermit and piggyâs charactersâ children are green boy frogs and pink girl pigs, like their parents, in âmuppets take manhattanâ it is made explicitly clear that piggyâs ideal concept of their children is pink frogs and green pigs
this is EXACTLY what iâm saying. Great insight
really losing my patience for any 'feminist' statement to the tune of 'we need feminism because women fill a fundamentally different and necessary role than men and will be better at doing x y or z'. like actually i think we need feminism because it is an unbearable death of the spirit by inches to exist in a world where you are not seen as a fully realized human being because of a single cultural determination, and because a world that enshrines such things creates systems that are fundamentally sick to the core
I don't know if I will ever feel comfortable coming out as aroace, despite being comfortably aroace. The other day someone asked me if I was queer and I felt so uncomfortable saying yes, because even if it is true, I knew it was still painting the wrong picture in this persons mind. And throughout the rest of the evening it was obvious they thought I was bi but I couldn't correct them because it's not an easy "oh I'm not X I'm Y", it's a whole new conversation: opening yourself up to uncomfortable and invasive questions, opening yourself up to the other persons astonishment and bafflement which just makes you feel more othered, opening yourself up to being hurt by casual assumptions and dismissive comments or just plain awkward silence. and usually it ends with the feeling that you didn't do enough to paint the right picture, to explain everything in a way that leaves no false impressions, that you didn't find the right words to make them truly understand you. despite such understanding taking years and years of work. It's so frustrating!
whenever I tell a story I feel like Uncle Colm from Derry Girls
I love being alone <- girl who has known nothing but loneliness her entire life and so has no choice but to take comfort in it
