writing is so funny because i could write nonstop for 9hrs and then hit a block where im like "how do i transition between this moment and the next?" and then i just dont touch it for 6 months

Serious advice tho if this happens, it's likely because you already wrote past the end of the scene and wandered too far from the more logical transition point, and you should go back to the last time the writing felt "unforced" and cut everything after.

You can also just skip the transition. Really good writing can span years in a single sentence, like you can just authoritatively state fact and your reader will go with it.

❄️Smardline’s at it again!❄️

As a fan of Smardline’s previous works, I was very excited for this dark academia debut.

I really love the chemistry between our two main leads, Luna and Zayden their tension is off the charts and seeing them fight their personal battles made them feel relatable.

The world building in Valcerre and mystery behind the this prestigious in the university in this book is phenomenal and I was not disappointed. I loved the side stories won’t their friends, as they were supportive and likable. It was also nice to see the relationship between Luna and Rylee and its grown, seein as it was one of the central plot points in last book. 🏒⛸️❄️

Overall, it was very well done. Eagerly awaiting the next entry in this series!

When Alicia “Ally” Romano returns to her small town to settle her father’s estate, she expects the trip to be clean cut and closed. However, things change when complications arise with settling the estate and she runs into Chris Parker, her first love.

Now forced to stay longer than planned, Ally must come to terms with all she left behind and the love that never faded.

The story starts strong, introducing Alicia “Ally” Romano and her seemingly perfect life; great friends, a solid career, and a stable relationship while subtly showing how emotionally detached she truly is.

Then we meet Chris Parker, who’s now a divorcee, has never stopped loving Ally and struggles under the weight of his father’s disapproval. His character growth was one of my favorite parts of the book, especially watching him finally take control of his life and stand up for himself.

The chemistry between Ally and Chris is undeniable, with tension that never fades. Their emotional contrast; Ally running from pain while Chris endures it, adds depth and realism to their relationship.

Overall, this is a strong and emotional start to a trilogy. The characters feel real, the supporting cast is memorable, and the story explores grief, family, and second chances with heart.

The writing was very straightforward and relied more on telling rather than showing. Because of that, many moments skimmed over details instead of fully immersing the reader in the scene. At the same time, the story didn’t always go into enough specifics, which made parts of the world and plot feel a bit underdeveloped. I also found it a little difficult to place when the story was supposed to take place, and the teens often read younger than the ages they were portrayed to be.

That said, I do think this story has a lot of potential. If you enjoyed Amari and the Night Brothers, you’ll likely find elements here that appeal to you as well. For me personally, there wasn’t quite enough mystery to keep me fully engaged throughout the story.

What I did enjoy most was the coming-of-age aspect. The friendship between Harriet and Ruthie was a highlight, and I loved watching Harriet uncover the mystery surrounding her family while gradually stepping into her power. Those moments were some of the most compelling parts of the book.

Emma Eden’s newly released third book in her Cake Chaos Chronicles, is more chaotic than ever. Happy for the opportunity to be a part of this.

Fallon and Declan were really cute and funny together. I really loved seeing their relationship develop throughout with their banter and learning to be honest with themselves.

Fallon was a bit frustrating but I understood that she had some issues to work out. It did take some to me for me to grasp of what was going on, as far as how the illness worked, powers, and the the world building but it revealed itself very nicely. I have only read book 2 before this, so I had a bit of an idea.

Though some parts of the plot did feel a bit forced, I had some really good laughs and heartfelt moments between our MCs.

This sequel did not disappoint! Ms. Robert has done it again. Talk about keeping you on the edge of your seat.

After the explosive finale of Caged, Gabi is taken hostage and held as a sacrifice. With only seven days left to live, the stakes couldn’t be higher. As Gabi mourns the devastating loss of her best friend, Jace is forced to decide which side he’s truly on. Meanwhile, Kieren spirals after losing Monroe yet again, but this time he suspects there’s more to X—and to the secrets Sigma has been hiding.

Jace was definitely on my shit list, but he redeemed himself in this book. Gabi deserved nothing less, and I hated seeing my girl go through so much. That said, the feminine rage she unleashed had me cheering. I loved seeing her find strength within herself, especially with Jace finally standing by her side. This book absolutely hurt me, but somehow it only made me love it more.

And that ending? It gave me so many twists that were expectingly unexpected.

I really loved the overall story. One of my favorite aspects was seeing the support Jolade received from her family and friends. It was beautiful and refreshing to witness such a strong, loving support system. It added so much depth and warmth to the story.

The author’s writing style made it incredibly easy to fall into the world and connect with the characters. Ben, in particular, is both likable and complex. He carries his own pain and loss, yet remains patient, kind, and steady throughout. The relationship between him and Jola is incredibly sweet, and I appreciated how their connection felt earned rather than rushed.

I also loved how the author illustrated just how right they are for each other. We get to see how far they’ve both come in working through their guilt and trauma, which makes their growth, individually and together, even more meaningful.

This book absolutely gutted me—in the best and worst ways possible.

When I first started Caged, I was honestly a little thrown off seeing multiple narrators. I thought it might make the story feel scattered… but nope. It worked beautifully. Each POV added something raw and necessary, and by the end, I couldn’t imagine the story told any other way.

Monroe’s journey broke me. I was cheering for her, crying for her, and at times, felt just as trapped as she did in that toxic relationship with Kieran. He’s one of those characters that makes your skin crawl—so manipulative and twisted, feeding off Monroe’s insecurities in ways that felt too real.

And can we talk about Gabriella for a second? Total ride-or-die energy. She came through exactly when Monroe needed her most, and I adored every single scene they shared. As for Jace… he still pisses me off (maybe he’ll grow on me later). But I was definitely cheering when a few other characters finally got what was coming to them.

This story goes to some dark places—but I’m actually glad it did. It sheds light on the kind of relationship people don’t like to talk about, the ones that start with charm and end in control. Summer Robert didn’t sugarcoat it, and I really respect that.

And that ending? Yeah, it wrecked me. But deep down, I had a feeling it would go that way.

Huge thank you to Summer Robert for writing this book. The tears I shed during your author’s note were real—and honestly, they gave me strength. I can’t wait to see what you do next, and I’ll be first in line for book two.

From the very first chapter, I was hooked. The pacing was smooth, the world felt intriguing, and I loved how the tension between Faeryn and Grayson built naturally.

Faeryn’s resilience and determination made her easy to root for—she’s the kind of heroine who quietly earns your admiration. And Grayson… well, let’s just say his protective nature and quiet intensity made their dynamic impossible to look away from. They’re both imperfect in the best way, which made their relationship feel real and deeply emotional.

If you enjoy monster romances with a cozy fantasy atmosphere, a thread of mystery, and even a touch of sci-fi woven in, you’ll definitely want to check this one out.

🩸 My Thoughts

This story was everything I wanted from a dark fantasy romance — blood, danger, tension, and a heroine who refuses to break. Adina is the kind of FMC I adore: —sharp, fierce, and willing to do anything for the ones she loves. She’s grumpy on the outside but has such a soft heart underneath, and that contrast made her so easy to root for.

The worldbuilding was vivid and cruel in the best way, and I loved how the author showed the contrast between Adina’s life as a blood servant and her time inside the vampire palace. The tension between her and Karius? Absolutely electric. Every scene between them had me on edge.

There’s plenty of violence, betrayal, and high-stakes twists that kept me hooked from start to finish. The ending left me shook and I’m already counting down the days for book two.

A dark, addictive read that’s perfect for fans of enemies to lovers, morally gray romance, and worlds where survival demands both teeth and heart.

💭 My Thoughts

I absolutely loved the writing in this one. The author does an amazing job making both main characters complex and emotionally grounded. Liliana’s grief and determination felt real, and Dante, despite being ruthless, was surprisingly likable (and heartbreakingly lonely).

The chemistry between them builds beautifully, and the spice scenes are intense but never overdone. The world of Blackwater City felt alive, dripping with atmosphere and danger, and the musical motif running through the story gave it this hauntingly romantic edge I couldn’t get enough of.

And that ending?! I was not ready for the second male villains (anihero?) to swoop in like that! The side story with Emilia and Dante’s brother added even more depth (and I’m lowkey hoping they get their own book.

If you love dark, emotional romances with immortal antiheroes, blood debts, and a touch of classical music drama A Symphony of Shadows is absolutely worth reading.
