Does anyone else remember when Elon was like "if anyone knows how to end world hunger for 6 billion USD, I'll fund it" and UNICEF was like "we're going to spend a month to make a plan to end world hunger for 6 billion USD and Elon is going to fund it" and Elon was like "actually, nah" and then bought Twitter instead?

I think that was one of the worst things I'll ever see in my life.

I still think that should be the thing for which he's the most famous. It should be brought up every time he's mentioned. In any news article, any interview, any history book. "Elon Musk, who was offered a chance to end world hunger and turned it down." Put it on his fucking gravestone.

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

it's probably from assholes making asks a minefield of trolling/harassment for years with no real blocking ability, which turned people off from allowing asks on their blogs so as a whole the site moved away from it

but now that we do have better blocking, we should try to revive it.

Was just reading a fic and the writing was pretty good and I liked the premise but like every so often there this ping in my mind about how certain things are mentioned or the word choice or how certain characters are mentioned (or not at all).

Just full of these little red flags that have juuust barely enough plausible deniability tagged on

There was just a plain ass dogwhistle but i gave the benefit of a doubt for that chapter…

And well what do you know, I skip ahead a couple more chapters to vibe check and in an authors note they fully expose themselves as a christo-fascist… just straight up blunt and shameless. wow. almost ‘I’m a nazi’ verbatim, wild

A steer (Kmar) and a cow (Medina) both sweet hearts.

I’m traveling with them, their owner and one other person for a couple of months, we’re walking along a river to eventually bring them to the ocean. Visiting various places like schools and old peoples homes to introduce and talk about our journey and to show a side of cows people don’t usually see

Basically backpacking but with cows lol

Sometimes they don’t wanna move even with a tasty mouthful of corn

They carry a few things and we’ve got our own rucksacks as well

The steer carries between 20-25kg and the cow 10-15kg both weigh around 400kg so there’s no risk of them carrying too much.

They’re both good walkers when we’ve got the rhythm but sometimes they just stop and graze for ages doing like 1kmph if that lol
