Hand Enchanting; an introduction
Wow, my first entry on here I’ve been delaying this for so long.
Just like the title says this magic is the act of enchanting your hands, to be more specific this is a magic transference method through touch. This is the act of imbuing your hands w a certain type of energy to give to someone/something else. It’s the quick and silent way of helping (or not helping if you’re into it) someone out. A simple way to look at it is like in Dnd when they cast magic out of their hands, it’s like that but it requires touch. The magic is slow gradual working, usually within the 10 minutes or so, and is gone by the end of the day.
I got this idea because I’m not really good at comforting people, I have (admittedly unhealthy) isolation habit, I just don’t interact with people enough to deal with other peoples emotions but I do want to do something to help my friends out when they’re having a hard time. After testing and perfecting it I figured out ways this could be used in other work.
The trick is you can’t touch anything else but the host after it’s casted, you can’t touch a part of yourself or the magic just goes back to you, if you touch an objects the magic is lost (like a table counter or the floor) or it goes into the object and then you just gotta hope they carry that object around or dispose of it if it’s bad magic. This is why the casting methods are quick and simple one-handed works so you can cast it on sight and quickly get it done without being noticed like a weirdo whispering a bunch of mumbo jumbo to yourself. This is really good to help cheer your friends up or give them a bit of self-confidence without a whole lot of work necessary.
In bigger doses it can be used in ritual work in place of wands or athames aren’t accessible, or when you are gonna need to do more hands-on work without them. Or if you need the effect to last longer than just a day. This will drain a lot more energy out of you though. You’re embuing your energy out to others, remember this and remember to pace yourself when testing this out yourself, know your limits.
Casting
If you don’t have time for a pen and paper and you need magic fast the easiest and fastest is coming up with a finger movement for it. I guess fast in the sense of in the moment, planning though I suppose is less quick than coming up with a sigil like in method 2. This is more for fast defensive/offensive magic, or if you’re me and need a last-minute confidence boost when I was in the high school theatre. I always activated mine with a small clap or putting my hands together.
This is hard to describe so have a badly drawn hand diagram (is that the right word?) for giving physical strength. It takes practice to perform them fastly:
The second method is to mark your hand w a sigil and silently use a keyword to activate it. To boost it a bit more since this is the simplest method you could smudge your hand with a food/item or holding the object/food w the same symbolism as the subjects while casting. (Though make sure it’s dried or the persons clothes or skin is gonna get sticky)
Ex.
Bananas (at least for me) correspond with stamina and endurance.
This is a sigil I use when referring to some type of physical strength (I have a different one for mental), in this case, leg strength/endurance.
I know it’s gross thinking of smudging banana on your hand. You could just hold a banana peel while casting it but you gotta like drop it the minute you’re done. Like I said the tricks not to touch anything but the host the minute it’s cast.
Advanced magic is hard for me to describe since this form of magic can be used for many different things. And this is just an introduction so I don’t wanna go on a full step by step thing. Here’s just a list of things I use it in for bigger work, I’ll add links when I actually write them out and post it.:
Cursing items
grounding
Mental healing rituals
earth/green magic
temporary binding
protection
reflective magic
