The sheer amount of glee mixed with "Wait, WHAT?!?" when I heard Lego Batman quote Sam Manson...

I need people to stop blaming the death of movies on “quips”. A quip is just a funny line of dialogue. That’s all. Like I just saw a post talking about quips and the death of movies and brought up Pirates of the Caribbean as an example of a better movie and yes it is but also that movie is FULL OF QUIPS. I just rewatched The Princess Bride. It’s all quips. Every single line. And it’s a masterpiece.

Movies suck when people don’t care about the art they’re making. That includes them not caring about their quips. Which is why a lot of comic relief dialogue ALSO sucks now. But the problem isn’t that funny dialogue exists.

#it’s not the quips it’s the complete and utter fear of showing any kind of sincerity#honestly it’s almost the equivalent of saying ‘no homo’ after a moment of being genuine

The Princess Bride is almost all quips, but it’s all sincerity. Every aspect of the plot is ridiculous and yet no movie dialogue has ever gone as hard as “I want my father back, you son of a bitch”

watching a movie at home circa like, 2001 was like

put your TV on channel 2 so the VCR will work

open up the clamp shell case that held the VHS that has that satisfying crrlikkkkkk

put in the movie

gdi it has to be rewound

press STOP and then rewind because its so much faster that way

start the movie and it takes a few seconds for the movie to actually start cause you rewound to the VERY beginning

FBI will get you if you illegally distribute or exhibit this movie

and then. because you forgot that movies are always so much louder than TV

I want a book accurate Ella enchanted miniseries

My sister and I have been talking about this for a while and it’s stuck in my head and since I’m bad at concise thoughts here’s a bullet list

-aesthetically it will be for the cottagecore lesbians

-like seriously imagine grand dusty staircases with banisters to slide down

-a soundtrack like pride and prejudice 2005

-it has to be a miniseries not a movie because the plot doesn’t follow a 3 act structure

-Mandy will be the grandma we all need and want

-a whole episode of her and char sending letters

-like imagine how beautiful the finishing school dorms would be in plush monochrome

Listen I know none of this probably makes sense but the movie is so bad and the book is beautiful and it deserves better

The Phineas and Ferb Effect

So according to the crossover, Phineas and Ferb are supernaturally lucky, and only good things happen to them.

Seriously, I enjoyed the crossover a lot, and it was so great to see these characters again, but the idea that all of Phinny and Ferb’s success was due to a ‘mysterious force?’ I don’t buy it. The boys are talented precocious kids who have a positive mindset, and a lot of moxie and ingenuity. To attribute all their successes to simple good luck is a disservice to them I think. (Also, they were literally cursed with bad luck one episode and still managed to do their thing. Just saying.)

For “Identity Struggle” of going angst week. I feel like despite how mature she is, the stress of everything would really get to Jazz. She’s only sixteen, and she’s basically the counselor for team phantom, as well as the only authority-ish figure in Danny’s life who’s actually aware of what he’s doing and looking out for him. Not to mention that she has to watch her little brother be put in mortal danger every day. (Often by their own parents.) I could totally see her feeling like she has to stay strong for Danny, be the adult for him, and burying down her own fear and feelings about the situation. Poor Jazz. She’s only 16. She shouldn’t have to be an adult yet.
