I finally have something cohesive enough to post, so here we go with a messy writing about my Kion story!
When Kion was bitten by Ushari, he was rushed to Rafiki, but the old mjuzi could only do so much. He could treat the wound enough to save Kion's life, but the young lion was going to lose sight in that eye. Similarly, Ono had lost his sight after getting ash from the volcano in his eyes. The only place Rafiki knew that could help both Kion and Ono regain their sight was the Tree of Life. And so, the Lion Guard made the journey- Makini accompanying them to help Kion ease the pain in his wound.
When they finally met Queen Janna, she revealed she could somewhat restore Ono's sight, but for Kion, she could only postpone his blindness. He stayed with the Night Pride for a bit to get used to his new half-sight, during which time he and Rani grew close. They tried a relationship, but things didn't work out. The two tried to write their relationship off as being young, hormones high, and it was doomed to fail from the start. When the Lion Guard left for the Pridelands, Kion and Rani parted ways as friends, pledging each of their teams to the other, should they get into too much trouble.
Back home, Kion is baffled to find that in his time away, he and his Guard have been replaced by a bunch of Outsiders! Shortly following this revelation is the battle of the Guards, which results in a tie before the final challenge: Kion vs Vitani. Kion knew he could win if he just used the Roar of the Elders, but he also knew his days as the Fiercest and the leader of his Guard were numbered as his sight slowly degenerated. Considering this knowledge- as well as the fact that Vitani was willing to challenge him despite the Roar -Kion forfeited the mashindano, turning the Lion Guard status over to Vitani and her team. The former Guard mostly returned to life as normal, but they still participated in Pridelands' defense, when their individual skills were called for.
As he matured, Kion tried his paw at another relationship, this time with his sister's cubhood friend Tiifu. Once again, though, the relationship was ended. When Kion broke up with Tiifu- seeming to her to come out of nowhere -she was heartbroken, running to her friends for comfort. Kiara, Zuri, and oddly, even Vitani were there for her in her time of need. Even more surprising, this was the first time innocent, girly Tiifu realized she had feelings for bad girl Vitani. At the same time, Kion did some self-reflection and realized he was aromantic.
Alongside the KionxRani marriage, I also wrote out every Roar of the Elders development from season 3. It's still a magical, overpowered roaring cub in my universe, but there's no more tornados or levitation, because that's just too much magic and overpowered-ness for my taste. Also, the scar isn't known as the Mark of Evil in my 'verse... It's just a scar. It has no bearing on a lion's alignment.
Side notes: When Kion broke up with Tiifu, Kiara was understanding of Kion's point of view, but Zuri wouldn't even hear him out and villainized him for breaking poor Tiifu's heart. Tiifu had to talk her out of it, then Zuri finally listened and forgave Kion. She's just very protective of her friends [and maybe also had a crush on Tiifu]. Zuri already didn't trust the Outsiders [while Tiifu was very quick to trust them "If Kiara trusts you, then I do, too!"], so when Tiifu started dating Vitani, Zuri was very upfront about what would happen to Vitani if she hurt Tiifu. Tiifu had to diffuse many fights between them when their relationship was still new.
I wish I could upload more here, but 99.9% of what I do is base work, and I'm not comfortable uploading bases off DeviantART, esp. when the artist doesn't specify whether you can upload off-site or not.
Y'feel?
I'll browse my headcanons, AUs, and whatnot soon and see if I have any updates.
by @found_it_on_google over on instagram, bless their soul
hope this helps yall artists and friends of artists out!!
This seems like something the Lion King fandom could use. I know we have a lot of art theft.
well, at least it was not a commission and they are not trying to take credit for it? humorous!
It’s one of the better edits I’ve seen come out of deviantART. The kid shows promise.
I recently came up with my own idea for my TLK-verse involving Strange Lion. Basically, the idea is that he was the leader of a small group of lions that had largely been killed off by disease and were looking for a better home. Strange Lion befriends Scar and convinces him that he can be so much more than a guard and gives him the idea of usurping the throne, but he also secretly plots to kill him with a venomous snake after Scar becomes king so he and his pride can claim the throne.
And when Scar finds out that Strange Lion plans to kill him, he uses the roar to send him flying, and he then winds up in the Elephant Graveyard where he ends up being eaten by hyenas. The pride of lionesses that he ended up leaving behind later become the Outsiders and he also sired a cub with one of them who ended up being Zira. What do you think?
———
This, this I like! Using the snake venom as a murder weapon and not a brainwashing weapon. Ten for ten I approve.
I don’t edit much but seeing Queen Janna made me wish Kion got some shit with Sarabi. Oof, Disney. So turned Nala into Sarabi.
You did a beautiful job tho!
Original is from the lion guard, then the bottom one is my edit. She looks so much better now.
the lion guard movie was alright
LESSON 2: WHO IS SIMBA’S SON?
Hey and Welcome to the next Lesson.
With Disney still churning out remake after remake, it was only a matter of time till they got to The Lion King. Whatever your views on the newest iteration are, you can’t deny the massive impact it left on films as a whole. So much so, when I went to trivia night at my local bar, the subject was The Lion King.
It was fine, I had fun, the night was going great until … I got to one question specifically: At the end of The Lion King, who was Simba’s son?
I put down “Kion”, knowing that’s the correct answer – correct answer now, anyway.
And I got it wrong.
Now, this is a trick question for 4 reasons.
If you’re like most of us, you may immediately respond with, “What? Simba didn’t have a son, he had a daughter, Kiara.” And, to that, I’d have to say, yeah! You’re right!
…But the truth is much deeper than that!
Looks like the characters are getting aged up in season 3!!! I wonder if it might take place during simba’s pride??
Interesting!
Yeah, recolors and image editing isn’t my thing, but I kinda wanted to have fun, here.
Made the background lionesses assisting Simba’s presentation being my Sukalaverse interpretations of Sarabi’s sisters, plus Sarafina, a fanmade character and a baby Nala I made using official baby Simba clipart.
Felt like sharing this here since I’m pretty much proud of it. Whadaya think? Anything better I could have done, for this render?
That’s a pretty good edit.
When Dhahabu died giving birth, Chakijane was devastated. He named the only cub Chinira- "God receives" -for the spirit of her mother, received by the Great Kings. One of the pride's nursing lionesses took on the newborn, if only because she couldn't just let the poor thing starve. As Chinira grew up, Chakijane tried to care for her, but every time he looked at his daughter, he thought of Dhahabu, and his heart ached. It was too much for him. He ended up being distant, and admittedly, he somewhat blamed Chinira for her mother's death... But still, he was her father. She was his responsibility. If Chinira got into trouble, it was up to Chakijane to bail her out. He was otherwise distant as a father, though, leaving his daughter wanting. She started to realize that whenever she got into trouble, it was the only time she was given attention. Her father would clean up the mess, but scold her, tell her she should be more grateful... He was angry, but it was still attention. She craved it. Chinira would deliberately cause trouble, just to get that attention. Eventually, her desire for attention would only grow, leaving a lonely void inside her. As an adult, her life in the pride was quiet. Chakijane still got her out of any trouble, but she otherwise accomplished nothing noteworthy. It was a quiet, lonely life... Until the day things changed for the entire pride. King Mufasa and Prince Simba were tragically killed in a stampede, and the king's brother Scar became the new king. To her surprise, Scar approached Chinira with the offer to be his queen. He promised her power if she were to accept, but more importantly, he gave her a place to belong. She accepted the offer immediately, but when this was announced to the pride, Chakijane made it clear he would not accept this. He didn't trust Scar. He commanded his daughter to leave the dark king, but with newfound boldness, she refused. She didn't need him anymore. She wasn't little Chinira anymore, desperately trying to get her father's attention. Scar would give her more than Chakijane ever did. She wasn't Chinira anymore... She disowned that name- that identity -and the lion who was her father. Now, she was Zira, Scar's queen. In the years to come, Chakijane would continue trying to convince Chinira- no, Zira -to leave Scar, but she would never listen. Scar always told her how he needed her, how important, how useful she was to him. The lionesses would listen to her, at least at the beginning; she was one of them, after all. If that wasn't enough to keep her pridesisters in line, though, a little threat here and there would do the trick. Finally, Zira had it all- power, love, a place to belong. But all good things must come to an end. A usurper with a blood-red mane claiming to be the lost prince Simba came one day, and took the one thing Zira held most dear. He killed Scar and took the throne. Exiled along with her few loyal lionesses, her cubs, and Scar's chosen heir, Zira swore she would have vengeance against this tyrant who called himself Simba.
One typical day in their cubhood, Mufasa and Taka* were roughhousing as brothers do. But- as sometimes happens -things started to get a little out of control. Some nasty things were said, names were called, and in a moment of action before thought, Mufasa lashed out. His claws raked his brother's face, and as Taka cried out, Mufasa's anger gave way to regret. His brother's blood was on his paw. Taka's eye was bleeding. Mufasa rushed his brother back to Pride Rock, where Taka's eye was given proper medical attention, and Mufasa was given a lecture he'd never forget. From then on, things were never the same. Taka never wanted to play with Mufasa, and he was much more aggressive. Mufasa started to respond with the same, calling his brother 'Scar' after the mark his own claw had left on Taka's face. The boys' father started to pay more attention to Mufasa, training him to be a proper king. All the adults were much more cautious with Taka; they didn't want him to get hurt any more. He grew up babied by adults and taunted by his brother. He adopted his brother's taunt as his own name, leaving little Taka behind. Scar started to believe he would make a better king than Mufasa. Eventually, he found the hyenas; exiled from the Pridelands, they were desperate for food. Scar promised them all they could eat if they would agree to help him. The hyena matriarch, Shenzi, was hesitant to deal with a lion, but her clan were starved and this deal would mean she could finally feed them. She agreed, and we all know what happened next... *I'm really not happy to call Scar 'Taka', since people are always so hung up on the meaning of 'trash'. If it even means 'trash' at all, it mostly means 'want'. Don't you think that suits Scar? But since everyone is so stuck on 'trash', I want to call him something different. I was thinking Tamani- 'desire'.
I recently joined a chat group for Lion King and I literally had to argue with someone how Uru does not have siblings in canon nor did she appear at the end of Lion King 1 lel rip I thought we were behind confusing fan theory and canon by now guysssss
When you find yourself trying to explain something to someone who thinks fanon is canon and they are persistent it’s canon, just stop and walk away. They won’t be reasoned with and will argue that fanon is canon. It’s only gonna give you acid stomach trying to talk to them.
What she says: I’m fine.
What she means: Cinderella’s given name is actually Ella. “Cinderella“ is the cruel nickname given to her by her stepsisters because she’s always covered in soot from the fireplace they make her sleep in.
Dumbo’s given name is Jumbo Jr. “Dumbo” is the cruel nickname given to him by the elephant women once they see his large ears. We never see a Jumbo Sr. so the implication is that his father is dead and those women are actually mocking a widow and her young child.
These characters are actively marketed and merchandised with the handles given to them by cruel and abusive people from their troubled childhoods.
See also: Scar
Scar’s actual name is Taka which literally means trash, tbh the mean nickname was actually a step up from being named Stinky Garbage Boy.
Imagine naming one kid “king“ and the other kid “garbage“. No wonder he became a villain.
Taka also means red
Taka can also mean want or wish, but Scar’s birth name being Taka isn’t entirely canon. He was only named Taka in The Six New Adventures, which were not created directly by Disney, and were basically invalidated as soon as TLK2 came out. Technically, you believe Scar was born with whatever name you darn well please. You could call him the Swahili equivalent of Jeff!
