Very hard to say. In no particular order, Mysterious Skin, Lonesome Dove, Dark Places, Black Leopard Red Wolf, and probably the ritual just for how much time I spent alone in the woods thinking abt getting stalked by a giant evil goat

Black leopard red wolf is so fucking good I have to read everything by Marlon James now

Not per-se but I did end up really enjoying “What I talk about when I talk about running” by haruki murakami when I’ve never delved into memoir before and might look into more if any authors I enjoy as much as murakami happen to have memoirs!

17: Did any books surprise you with how good they were?

Yesss The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt riveted me. I had a cross country road trip in October and had planned to rotate audiobooks podcasts and music but pretty much from the second I turned it on I listened to it nonstop for most of the trip. I had a certain prejudgement about what the vibe of the book would be and was not into what I had imagined it was so it was a completely unexpected win
