An epic UPDATE of Molly Wetta’s graphic guide to LGBTQ titles in YA literature now up on YALSA’s website.
Done and done.
(Not pictured: “Butt window”, but trust me, it’s there.)
You have no idea how much this cheered me up just now.
I for one, think this is a major improvement. Look how empowered he is! And it’s relevant to the character as someone who is powered by the sun, he’d want to maximize the amount of sunlight he receives, right? It’s not like it makes sense for him to cover himself from chin to toe. In fact, I think some strappy sandals might be an improvement.
strappy high heeled sandals would increase his height making him closer to the sun. and if wonderwoman can fight in heels it can’t be that hard, right?
SO EMPOWERING
Felt a dire need to contribute to the hilarity.
Now I can tell right away he’s a strong male character. Whew! No more confusion.
+1 for him doing the boobs and butt pose too.
These are all extremely fair points
the first one especially speaks to me on a spiritual level
the last one is the most true shit ever
boys get the good shit
girls get “sexy ___”
whats next “sexy object”
because that’s what people are seeing girls as

I always struggled drawing hands before anyone told me what to do. So here is a HANDy dandy drawing reference to see the steps on an actual hand. There are three big muscles in the palm. The thumb lump is most important because without it you’ll never even get the shape right. Circle up the knuckles and draw bendy lines (red) to connect them. Make sure the fingers go from medium-tall-short-shortest just slightly (index=>pinky finger). Notice the big red squareish shape around the palm-that’s the first thing I do. Note: every infer has 2 knuckles don’t forget the thumb does too…just in a weird way.
HOLY SHIT

Murder John! Murder!
Happy Halloween my dear Sherlockians and Johnlock shippers! Have a little fluffy digital art with our favourite pirate and busy bee!
Happy Halloween!
Of all the possible costumes Sherlock and John could have picked for a (tedious!) Halloween party these seemed most fitting. Sherlock just refused to have anything done with his eyebrows.
And John, obviously, is wearing boots with slightly higher heels than Sherlock ;) Sherlock insisted so they’d match the height-difference between Kirk and Spock precisely. (Bloody perfectionist!)
Everyone at the party thinks they’re gay. Even more so than before. John is surprised because he thought Kirk was such a ladies’ man. Sherlock isn’t. (Obvious).

Amazing. This is my kind of arch villainy.

Conflict in Literature
According to Graham Robb's "Strangers: Homosexual Love in the 19th Century", "languid" was often used as a code for homosexuality in the Victorian Era.
cesspoolsinbeauty:
In ACD’s original Sherlock Holmes stories, Watson constantly describes Holmes as languid- his “languid, dreamy eyes”, how he talks “in his languid fashion,” and how he “lean[s] languidly against the mantlepiece.”
I know that reading homosexual subtext into the original Holmes stories is like shooting fish in a barrel and I’m not really a girl for ‘evidence lists’ anymore. I don’t think Doyle meant them to be gay but that said I sincerely think that Doyle wasn’t as consistent in his characterisation of his detective as we give him credit for, nor one to really care.
Anyway, shooting fish in a barrel is extremely enjoyable.
Now, I must go and see if Hornung used languid at any point in the Raffles stories. That was a man who knew exactly what he was doing when it came to subtext.
