Ive had this blog since i was 12 so i figured id finally do an intro/directory post. Even i have forgotten what lays in the depths of this forsaken place.

I have had many names on this blog; Laurel, Jynx and Demon are the usuals, use whichever you like. My pronouns are she/her/they/them/any i literally do not give a shit. i think of myself less as a gendered entity and more as a fluid concept.

I am a practicing professional artist, i specialize in 2D hand drawn animation and illustration. Comms can be found HERE (will update with hyperlink when it is live) the tags i use for my work are #demondraws and #my art.

Find cool stuff under any of my #fav tags, ie posts, fics, etc. i try to keep my tags somewhat organized, even if this blog is largely disorganized.

Sometimes I really want to take everyone under the age of 24 (as of 2026) by the shoulders and say:

"I'm really sorry that lockdown and the ongoing pandemic interrupted pivotal educational and social/emotional development moments for you. You have an uphill battle towards adjusting to a lot of community based efforts because you experienced a mass trauma during an incredibly important time in your life where you should have physically been around your peers learning to engage in shared community. There is no "but" here, I'm genuinely really sorry. Something many of us consider key points in our interpersonal growth as youths was taken from you, not without reason but without care for its impact on you. I hope you know we are eternally allies in our struggles and if that is something you struggle to know I hope you can learn it someday."

Because so many of the angriest, most disenfranchised people I see on this website are under 24 and I often try to put younger people's behavior in the context of where they might have been 2020. I've seen the impact on my siblings and their peers+friends first hand, all ages 18-24. We've talked about how its impacted them, the isolation, the attachment to the internet, the anxieties and phobias and fears it developed in them due to the pandemic, the political unrest, and the responses to both that we've seen since. I know they're not the only ones and I know how much being marginalized also influences that impact too.

It's terrifying. I know it must be terrifying for a lot of the young people on Tumblr too. I hope one day we're able to bridge all of those complex feelings into something collective and positive so we can do our best to prevent similar traumas from happening to future generations.

I think cis women should be allowed to get top surgery even if its not for a medical reason like breast reduction or cancer. I think they should be able to get it even if they're completely cisgender. Some women are just sick of dealing with them and would be much much happier never needing to wear a bra again

Not to oversimplify a complex issue, but i think we could reduce the number of deadly car crashes by increasing wages and having shorter work weeks.

If we have a four day work week instead of five, that reduces car trips for work by about a fifth. Thus reducing car crashes related to traveling for work by roughly 20%.

I'll do you one better- if the 4 day work week had a different 4 days for employees on a company or even individual scale, you have 20% less work traffic Monday through Friday. I suspect taking that edge off for non-work commuters (like those buying groceries) could reduce crashes even further with less cars on the road at peak times.

Even better than this, public transportation infrastructure could reduce the number of cars by letting people on local work commutes travel more efficiently in busses or trains.

The solution is simple: stop abusing the working class and pay us livable wages.

It would also be better for the environment if less people commuted by car! Car emissions are a large percentage, and also, it would eat into oil company profits, and they themselves are the largest perpetrators of global warming. We need to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, and working from home or investing in public infrastructure is a great tactic.

Air quality improved noticeably during the pandemic.

Skies were clear & blue for the week following 9/11, when all aircraft were grounded in the US.

The only reason work-from-home isn't a thing is (1) real estate leases on business infrastructure and (2) ego trips from bosses who NEED to see their wage slaves in person.

Although, there is something to be said for public school socialization. There's a whole generation of kiddos with poor social skills due to pandemic zoom schooling.
