I've started to see several blogs I love and follow sharing and appreciating new Doomsday scraps, and I am sincerely asking anyone/everyone to stop.

Doomsday isn't just another Marvel movie. It's a fascist shitshow, and now (when fascism is the highest it's been since WWII) more than ever we need to collectively stand together in boycotting this movie.

How is this movie a fascist shitshow? I'm glad you asked! There are three indisputable facts about this movie that make it fascist propaganda:

First Reason: RDJ as Doom. Not only is Dr Doom Romani, but his villain origin story is practically the same as Killmonger's in the Black Panther film. If you want to know more about this, I highly recommend reading this tumblr post and this tumblr post. The short version: Victor von Doom is a brown immigrant child whose parents are murdered by the white-supremest government of Latveria. If you can honestly ignore that right now, during the current political reality of the world, you need to do some serious self-reflection. Another important historical fact that everyone needs to remember is that the Nazis targeted the Romani people and disabled people before targeting Jews. Dr Doom is both Roma and disabled, and is one of the earliest examples of the ableist 'Disabled Villain' trope.

Second Reason: Steve Rogers going back in time and being married to SHIELDRA Director Peggy Carter. Contrary to what her name is, MCU!Peggy Carter is not an adaption of 616!Peggy Carter - but an adaption of Nazi spy Cynthia Glass. 616!Peggy is a blonde, blue-eyed American from Virginia, and she doesn't meet Steve until he is already serving overseas. 616!Cynthia Glass is from the 1991 retcon of Steve's origin story, The Adventures of Captain America. She is a brown-eyed brunet who is involved with Project Rebirth. If this isn't enough to convince you that MCU!Peggy was consciously based on her, here is some more indisputable evidence:

The illustrations in this photo are from Cynthia's debut in The Adventures of Captain America. MCU!Peggy is an exact replica of her, even down to the hairstyle. (This 1991 comic is also Gilmore Hodge's first appearance, if anyone needs more proof CA:TFA is a conscious adaption of this 1991 comic series).

This photo (and the one below) come from this excellent tumblr thread. I highly recommend reading it, because it covers several other canonical moments connecting Peggy to Hydra.

But wait! This isn't just fans connecting the dots. The official art book for the Agent Carter show also confirms MCU!Peggy was based mostly on Cynthia Glass:

For more on how MCU!Peggy openly worked with and promoted Hydra agents, see this excellent post by @amarriageoftrueminds . I also recommend reading this response she wrote to someone else, rebutting someone's claim of the Nuremberg Defense (which the characters don't even claim themselves) and going into detail about the differences between 616!Peggy and 616!Cynthia/MCU!Peggy.

There are two things not mentioned in those posts, but that are extremely important: the first is that Peggy, the original (and sole!) Director of SHIELD, not only participated in Operation Paperclip - but started it ("It was Operation Paperclip. After World War II, S.H.I.E.L.D. recruited German scientists with strategic value."), the same week Oppenheimer!Howard needlessly bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki:

Second, Zola doesn't try to hurt Steve by showing a picture of him working with Howard. No, he shows Steve a picture of him working with Peggy:

Also, before anyone claims 'Steve' went back and created a branching timeline where he could make changes (like rescuing Bucky) - EG outright disproves this. If he had been in a different universe/timeline, old!Steve would have appeared on the platform. Instead, he was already in the main MCU universe.

The most important point, though, is this: Steve Rogers/Captain America was created solely to be a political figure that stood against fascism and the wealthy elite. The original Steve Rogers (40s, 60s-mid90s) is a queer Irish Catholic man who openly had all the values and beliefs we associate with modern Democratic Socialists like AOC and Mayor Mamdani.

If you support Doomsday, you are supporting the fascist retcon version of one of the oldest ANTIFA characters we have, during a time when fascism is the highest it's been since Steve's creation during WWII. Fascism is fascism, there is no difference between then and now.

Third Reason: Marvel's massive layoffs of the visual development department. Here is an excellent article covering how Marvel star Evangeline Lilly publicly blasted them for putting AI money schemes over the wellbeing of their employees.

If Steve Rogers and Tony Stark were real, neither of them would support this movie. Be a true Marvel and Stony fan and don't support this movie either!

Why Comp Het Is A TERF Term

Short Answer: CompHet was coined by Adrienne Rich, a transphobic author using the term to push political lesbian ideology (the idea that lesbianism is a choice and is based on the hatred of men rather than the love for women).

Longer Answer:

It was coined in her 1980 essay titled "Compulsory Heterosexuality and Lesbian Existence", in which it promotes the concept of political lesbianism: the idea that lesbianism is not a sexuality or an orientation, but an extension of feminism. And because it is an extension of feminism, self identified straight cis women should have to also identify as lesbians if they want to escape "inevitable abuse" that men will cause.

( This is not referring to genderfluid lesbians finding euphoria in identifying as straight on the days they are men and as lesbian on the days they are women. This is referring to removing lesbians from the queer community & separating it from other queer identities all together. Political Lesbianism also supports the idea that all oppression stems from masculinity & "maleness", which is the excuse they used to kick out trans women, butch women, and nonbinary lesbians from wlw spaces. They also hid behind this idea to excuse their racism, ableism, intersexism, and general bigotry under the guise of "masculinity is the rout of all oppression so women can never be oppressors".

Adrienne Rich was good friends with Janice G. Raymond, and helped Janice write her transphobic novel "The Transsexual Empire: The Making of the She-Male". The novel argues that trans men and women existing reinforces gender stereotypes and tries to recreate women in "man's image". Janice Raymond also cites Rich's work in her chapter "Saphos by Surgery" in which she argues that trans women only go through surgery to try to break into women's spaces to commit "identity rape".

CompHet is based on a binary & "biological" idea of what gender is. She plays into the stereotypes that women (defined as cis women afab) are naturally nurturing and emotionally caring and men are not. Comp Het wasn't just an explanation for why lesbians are pressured and forced into heterosexual relationships, it was used to argue that heterosexuality in general was unnatural and only exists as a patriarchal tool to harm women. CompHet very firmly supports the idea that sexuality is a choice based on your political stance.

In modern TERF groups, comphet is often used as the source of blame to why trans men transition, cis lesbians date trans lesbians, and why some lesbians prefer masculine labels, and some lesbians are nonbinary. This is not a coincidence given the word's roots.

Instead, heteronormaty or internalized homophobia are two terms that do not support lesbophobic & transpobic ideals.

Also comphet is more often than not used to erase bisexual representation in media and bisexual people in real life, especially when it comes to bisexual women (at least in my experience), because people who cry "comphet" are more often than not also the type of people who sneer at the idea of a woman "willingly dating a man" and titter about "why would a woman date ugly men when she could have a woman" or even outright "if you choose to date a man don't cry when you end up abused." The last of which is straight up what radfems/terfs on this website say in response to any female abuse victim, especially ones who refuse to believe the idea that all men/male people are evil because of that.

Any headcanons about how rapunzel and eugene became girlfriend and boyfriend? I mean, how did they decide to put a label on their relationship? I think it's so sweet how they refer to each other that way in the series

Well, I doubt Rapunzel knew the terminology, and given that royalty tends to use terms like "suitor," I think it was Eugene who suggested it. But I feel like their relationship was gradual and natural, so much so that he broached it by saying something like, "You know, I've never had a girlfriend like you."

And she, having never heard that term, was just all, "All your friends have been guys?"

And then he had to explain girlfriend and boyfriend, kinda fell over his words saying he didn't want to make any assumptions about how she felt or who they were to each other, acknowledged that it wasn't what royalty called it.

But Rapunzel's never felt like royalty, and has always been a little uncomfortable being treated like royalty. Eugene is the only person who never does that.

I am begging the UK trans community and its allies to attend the rescheduled Mass Lobby at Parliament, now on Wed Sept 9th, 1pm-5pm, organised by Trans Solidarity Alliance.

The law around trans equality is fundamentally broken. Government inaction is hanging trans people and organisations out to dry - with a con

The new EHRC Code of Practice pushes trans people out of toilets, hospital wards, and community spaces. It normalises gender policing based on appearance and stereotypes. It became statutory guidance in the UK on August 5th, 2026.

Trans people are now legally their assigned gender at birth and must join gendered spaces accordingly, but if they are perceived as their lived gender, they can also be ejected from those spaces. The guidance says: either break the law, or don’t pass too well.

A mass lobby is where you invite your MP to discuss your concerns with you in-person. Our demands have changed. Ask your MP to:

Write to Ministers and Prime Minister Andy Burnham to say they are profoundly concerned by the rolling back of trans rights, and that they believe that it is time for Parliament to legislate to protect equality for trans people.

Ask parliamentary questions focused on protecting trans people’s rights and defending trans people’s abilities to live safe and dignified lives.

Speak up both inside and outside Parliament in defence of trans people’s rights.

Meet regularly with trans constituents to understand their lived realities. 

Your MP does not have to be an ally, they do not have to respond to your email for you to show up and greencard them (details below the cut.) What matters is that as many people as possible show up.

I cannot stress this enough: Showing up in person matters. It is much more effective than petitions, emails, and letters.

We have already had some wins because we took action. The 2026 EHRC guidance has already rolled back its most harmful elements because of mass campaigning by individuals like us, and groups like The Good Law Project. This summer, 166 MPs signed the Early Day Motion 240 to reject the EHRC Code of Practice, because of our campaigning. That is 1 in 4 MPs.

It is a horrible, stressful time, and I am so sorry if you're trans and live in the UK. But I was at last year's mass lobby and the line for greencarding alone stretched around the back gates. It was a record breaking mass lobby and made us impossible to ignore. Let's do even better this time. Details under the cut:

Worried about what to say? Bring your personal worries about transphobia being signed into law, and trans friends being excluded from public spaces. You are a living person who deserves dignity. Remind your MP of that. On the day, you'll get guidance and brochures from Trans Solidarity Alliance that outlines our demands. This is mine from last year.

Got a refusal or no response from your MP?  Come anyway! You can request a same-day appointment with your MP through a process called greencarding. They will come and see you if they’re already in Parliament. Even if they don’t, they’re made acutely aware of your cause because you showed up in person. This is my greencard from last year.

Here is the EHRC Code of Practice in full. It's a tough read, but some highlights are:

Organisations can’t provide trans-inclusive, single-sex services, or they risk being sued for discrimination. e.g. domestic violence support for women including trans women, men’s rugby group including trans men (12.68).

Trans people will have nowhere safe to pee. If you’re a trans man, businesses can't allow you to pee in the men's, and you can also be ejected from women’s bathrooms if you’re perceived as a man. Vice versa for trans women. EHRC suggests a ‘third space’ bathroom, which is discriminatory and unworkable for most businesses. (13.130-133)

Sports organisations must exclude trans people from single-sex competitions (13.73).  A women’s only sports competition must exclude trans women because of their biological advantage or face potential lawsuits (13.74), but a trans man who has undergone testosterone treatment can also be excluded based on fairness rules (13.81).

Trans women are stripped of the legal definition of ‘lesbian’, and therefore no longer have legal protections if they’re discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation. (2.50, 2.92).

one argument you often see about fanfiction is that it's like 'training wheels' writing? like 'oh it's fine to do that while you're still learning, it's easier than coming up with your own ideas'. and I have to say I have just never agreed with that.

in my experience it's actually pretty common for newbie fanfiction writers to gravitate towards coming up with OCs rather than writing about the canon characters (hence the infamous Mary Sue); this suggests that many people find that 'easier' than attempting to write about pre-existing characters.

I would say that recreating the characterisation, mood and general vibes of an existing work of fiction is in fact a skill in and of itself that's acquired via practice. A common compliment delivered to fanfiction writers is how well they have captured the spirit of the original work. Inexperienced fanfiction writers fail to do this.

When creating an original character you can, ultimately, say anything about them and now it's canon bcos you created them and you said so. conversely, well, if you are covering a well known song and start playing the wrong notes people will notice immediately.

In addition: a lot of fanfiction, IMO, is in actuality a form of metafictional literary analysis. a story where two characters sit down and talk about their feelings about a canonical event? literary analysis, which is of course a skill. Sometimes fanfiction is bad bcos the writer is not good at interpreting texts.

finally I have made this point before but you never really see anyone suggesting that fictional works based on existing public domain texts are on 'easy mode'. is it 'easier' to write something based on a copyrighted work than a public domain work? Of course it isn't.

A major strength of the transformative work is its ability to create dramatic irony. If a fanfiction's emotional resonance is dependent on being familiar with the source material that's not necessarily a bad thing. sometimes it's a sign that the author has done a really skillful job of engaging with said source material.
