while we’re talking about dream lying during the disc war finale, you know what’s interesting?

dream painting tommy as the hero of the server, as the linchpin of attachment and chaos, and insisting that Having tommy is somehow the key to everything Isn’t dream trying to justify his own actions. he called himself the villain to tommy’s hero, he’s not under any illusion about doing the morally Correct thing. no, what it does is justify dream’s Attachment to tommy even after he identified attachments as a weakness.

he’s trying to attach Inherent Value to tommy that’d make having him and Keeping him a strength rather than a weakness that can be exploited to make it internally consistent with his decision to cut all of his other attachments away. this is a safe attachment, it won’t hurt him and it can’t hurt him because it’s strength. but that attachment to tommy came Before the justification, and it came from the Fun that he has with tommy. he has to elevate tommy’s place on the server itself to justify his obsession retroactively

i honestly don’t think it’s talked about enough how far-fetched c!dream’s supposed justification on constantly going after c!tommy is.

imagine some guy thats stalked, murdered, abused, and terrorized you says he did all of that because you are “the key to controlling the server” and you are literally just- a kid. a chaotic one? yes. but not some all-mighty attachment god.

obviously, that sounds too ridiculous to be true, since c!tommy could literally be 50,000 blocks away from everybody else and people would still have attachments regardless. but for some reason, it hasn’t really been questioned.

the reality is that c!dream gets a sick kick out of controlling and “playing” with c!tommy. now that has been shown time and time again. now it’s a matter of when c!dream will be exposed for willingly blinding himself and the rest of server for the reason why he won’t leave the kid alone.

c!Tommy has to be the key to attachments because he’s the key to c!Dream’s attachments, you see. Without c!Tommy, c!Dream would feel lost and alone, and that can’t be something unique to c!Dream because that’s a weakness, and he can’t have any weaknesses, any vulnerabilities at all, it has to be something intrinsic to everyone.
