I talk about this all the time… it’s so important to me because I feel like it indicates priorities for them, which is important since they’re usually paired up in A Team’s eyes. Mikey “buds” him because he’s so focused on being grown and being taken seriously, so he’s either 1) taking cues from Raph to subconsciously emulate him or 2) kind of maybe using it as a way to feel better about his maturity and using Donnie as a bit of a stepping stool for that. But the important thing here is that Donnie really doesn’t seem to mind. At all. Doesn’t even bat an eye. I think he’s most removed from the influence their ages seem to have on their ideas of their family dynamic, because he sees himself as an isolated figure (the roommate comment MEANS SOMETHING I SWEAR) holding things together for them in a way Raph doesn’t. It also shows itself in the way he doesn’t seem to view Raph as much of a father figure as the other two do, since he’s so fixated on getting Splinter’s approval. Anyway all that to say B Team is absolutely unified force but I think they don’t truly understand each other’s motivations beyond a surface level—in their eyes it’s like, “Oh this is that thing he’s really passionate about,” while at the same time seeming to also view their own personal interests and goals as inherently shared
