I struggle with so much self doubt about my DID it is so frustrating. On one hand I believe I don’t have DID and I feel fake. On the other there is proof I have DID plus I’m also professionally diagnosed.

things that are simultaneous:

your alters are not here for no reason, your brain formulated each one in a response to *something* whether that be something you can recognize or identify or even remember. even if it was an alter that split later, over something small like a short period of stress. they have purpose.

as well as

alters are individuals and their purpose can grow and change and fluctuate. they can have little individual nuances that are completely unrelated to why they came to be; liking spicy foods, romcoms over standup. little human things, that make them more than shallow water executing a function.

My land lady is a 90lb 88 year old woman with 5 full grown Rottweiler boys. They sit around her when she gardens and watch her like the secret service. If you show up to pay rent they all stand up and stand between you and her.

It’s intimidating to have 5 pony size boys all staring at you until she stands up realizes it’a you and walks to you.

My favorite part is she wades through them like swamp water saying in her cute old voice ‘move’ ‘move please’ and each one she nudges to move wags his whole body at her touch and stumbles out of the way like he’s been knocked over by a truck. It gives me life paying my rent.

*jazz hands* it’s possible for DID/OSDD1b systems to have alters that dont view themselves as human

*twirling a cane in my fingers* traumatized children often turn to fantasy, religion, and myths in order to escape the horrors of reality

*rolling a top hat down my arm*  it’s very likely that inhuman alters are tied somehow to the trauma the system went through

*taking a bow as the audience throws roses at me* as a person with multiple alters who don’t identify as human (or didnt for a long time) please understand that there was no choice involved in the species of alters we have, since the splits occurred unexpectedly by being in traumatic situations that we could not control and the identity of our alters revolves around qualities a system needs to gain in order to survive

*blowing the audience a kiss* regardless of the alter’s identity, the body remains human, and not all alters are in a state where they can understand that because they are sometimes trapped in delusions or trauma. as they heal, they may become more aware of this, and you should not attack them during this time since they may reject reality further due to someone attacking their reality
