ARCHIVE BLOG. Active @bouyant-armiger-inthemaking Hi! My name is Theon! I follow gods of the Norse & Kemetic pantheons, and will post about all of them here! Iām particularly devoted to Osiris, Sekhmet, Sobek, and Loki :3 I hope you have a great day!
featuring the almalexia mural you can find in Bal Foyen (tamriel rebuilt), if somebody knows who exactly made the art for it do tell me as id be glad to mention them as credit here
Man I need to dust off this blog again. Itās been a while.
Iāve moved away from the Kemetic faith, though not because of any ill will. If anything, I just feel like that time of my life is done now, and itās time to move on.
Right this moment Iāve started in on something new: creating my own faith. Iām not sure what else to call it hahaha
Iāve started worshiping the Tribunal from the game Morrowind, and I know that might sound crazy, but so far so great! I was a little skeptical, but Vivec has been loud and clear in a way no other deity has been in a LONG time.
So, all that to say, this blog is probably going to be different than what it was before, but this is still a devotional blog.
If you have questions, please feel free to send in some asks! Iād love to talk about this for a change :3
A guide for beginning with Sheogorath, intended to help you begin your practice, but not to serve as the only information you use.
Keep in mind most of this post is UPG versus just based on the fictional canon, based on my personal experiences with this entity. It may directly contrast fictional canon and the experiences of others.
SHEOGORATH
shay-oh-gore-ath or she-oh-gore-ath
aka. Sheggorath
prns. xhe / he / they / she
( xhe / xhem / xher / xhers / xhemself )
domain. Shivering Isles
date. February 02nd
thereās also the Jesterās Festival on April 28th, but Feb 02 is Xher summoning day
Sheogorath, Mad God and Skooma Cat, powerful being who enjoys fun and all things relating to the mind. Xhe considers Himself patron of the neurodivergent and the mentally ill, of the ostracized and outcasted, of those with afflictions that canāt be cured, of the creative hearts, is a protective god who watches over them all to protect them well.
Sheogorath is a kind sort, giving and forgiving. Xhe loves a laugh and to be silly, and is hardly ever serious, though is known to be so if it seems to be called for. He can be brutal and vicious at times, and is definitely not a Prince you want to piss off, for Her punishments are creative and devastating.
Working alongside Sheogorath is a liberating and freeing experience, for Sheogorath accepts all as they are and their oddities without even a small judgement. But, at the same, He is well known for putting forth lessons that need to be learned to be stronger and healthier. She will encourage and support all the way through, even if the kindness is shown in a strange way.
In Khajiiti tradition, Sheggorath is the Skooma Cat, a crook-tailed Cat who shares madness through skooma, a in-universe hallucinatory narcotic. They believe He is an adversarial spirit that tests Khajiit on the Path, by making them doubt the truth of their own thoughts, beliefs, and actions, that He must be faced along the Path and be overcome before a Khajiit can visit Hermorahās library. Typically in the form of an Alfiq (a housecat-like Khajiit), and acts more like a common housecat than a khajiit, such as being easily distracted by yarn.Ā
In Chimer/Dunmer tradition, itās believed Sheogorath accompanied the Chimer on their exodus to Morrowind, before becoming known as one of the Four Corners of the House of Troubles when the Tribunal Temple took power. Sheogorath rebelled to His worship becoming punishable by death by tricking the moon Baar Dau to hurl itself at the city of Vivec. Dunmeri people believe Sheogorath tests them for psychological weakness.
Sheogorath used to be the other form of Jyggalag, before Jyggalag was freed and the two were "separated" by turning the Hero of Kvatch into the new Sheogorath, allowing Jyggalag to exist all on Their own.
When starting with Sheogorath, there's a lot to be considerate of in terms of difficulties: While Sheogorath is kind and relatively sweet, who cares a lot about followers and their joys, the chaos They bring into the lives of followers can at times be unwelcome and hard to deal with, and the tests and trials and adversarial challenges Sheggorath brings can be difficult as well, even if done out of kindness and love. As well, Sheogorath is chaotic and jumps from extreme to extreme on the smallest of whims, and can be perfectly friendly and sweet one moment, then upset and angry the next.

š identity . . .
Sheogorath is a chaotic menace, who loves to laugh and goof off and around. But at the same time, Xhe is very cunning and bright, who can be very calm and collected ā and even serious ā when the times call for it. He prefers to laugh and have fun, though.Ā
They care a lot about followers, wanting to protect them and look out for them.
Xhe can be utterly brutal when He wants to be though, and is a side that is best avoided when possible, even if itās in your own benefit.
Sheogorath has many ways Xheāll present Himself, with many different gender presentations.
The main things that are the same is Sheogorath often appears with a beard, and usually always either red-haired or white-haired, the latter sitting alongside an about late 50s age.Ā
Xhe usually wears bright and flashy clothing, of many colors and similar things. Xhe is almost always seen with a cane of some form, even using the Wabbajack as a cane.
Sheogorath has a loud and proud voice, often filled with laughter and jokes. Her voice is often androgynous, but is also known to skew towards either end of the pitch spectrum depending on what Xhe wants to do.Ā
They do enjoy using the same voice that was heard within the later games, but wonāt do so always.
ā aspects . . .
. . . Skooma Cat ]
This aspect is usually seen physically more than not. A housecat with a crooked tail, with a myriad of different fur patterns all seen at Xher own will and thought about whatād be best. Sheogorath acts much like His usual self in this form, so thereās no real differences in who youāre dealing with.
Sometimes Sheogorath even imparts part of His essence upon mortal cats, making them go wild for a while. This isnāt a very common show, though.
. . . The Frail Old Man ]
This aspect is close to what it sounds like ā Sheogorath passing as a frail, old man, often as a test or to mess with followers much like a trickster would.
. . . Gentleman with a Cane ]
This aspect is also close to what it sounds like ā Sheogorath passing as a mortal, a gentleman with a cane.
ā domain . . .
Sheogorathās domain is called the Shivering Isles, of which is split into Dementia and Mania. The majority of the land is wilderness of chaotic and unique species; with New Sheoth being the main settlement, and The Fringe being another well-known settlement, though they are others.
The Shivering Isles is open to visitors, as itās less dangerous than seen within canon. Itās a land of peace and respite for all the ill.
ā® working with . . .
Working with Sheogorath is a very fun and liberating experience. Xhe encourages a lot more work for the mentally ill, wanting them to include Him on their general recovery. Though, itās a free and ādo what you wantā faith and practice for the most part.Ā
A core part of Sheogorath and His worship is to revel in what might not always be accepted, to always have fun, and to seek the best in all situations and times. They will be a God who wishes to bring joy and entertainment, but also self-acceptance and self-kindness.
However, Sheogorath is not a God you want angry near you, for Xhe is vicious and cruel. While He tries very hard to not direct this towards followers, Her temper significantly shortens and thus extra, great care is needed to make sure that one doesnāt get the rage directed at them next.
Even if the rage isnāt directed at you, Sheogorath is just generally unpleasant when enraged, so avoiding Xhem when angry is usually a good idea.
The teaching, in essence, is to love yourself and embrace yourself, to find peace in your afflictions, but not to become complacent to the harm they give you, or accept them to harm you without fighting back against them. Itās the difference between going āYeah, I hallucinate, just a part of lifeā and āI actively wish to be hallucinatingā.
Slighting Sheogorath is both very difficult and very easy, as Sheogorath is impulsive, chaotic, and flips from extreme to extreme on a whim. Though, itās usually pretty consistent what bugs Him and what doesnāt, and Xheās likely to forgive each first offense with nothing more than a āIām sorryā.Ā
Should you not be on a first offense of the same issue, or just happened to really royally piss off Sheogorath, a day of devotional and some offerings with a humble apology on one of Sheogorathās good days should mend the issue.Ā

( FIRST ERA )
In the early First Era, Shalidor established the island of Eyevea as a retreat and sanctuary for all mages. However, in the time period roughly around the Twenty-Third Century of the First Era, Shalidor wagered Eyevea to Sheogorath for the Folium Discognitum, a tome of knowledge which he had been obsessed with obtaining. Shalidor lost, and the island was duly spirited away to the Shivering Isles, where it would remain for thousands of years. Shalidor went on to regret wagering the island, feeling that he had been tricked by the Mad God.
Between the 3rd and 5th of Rain's Hand, 1E 2920, Sheogorath, along with seven other powerful Daedric Princes, entered into a contract known as the Coldharbour Compact with the Tribunal God Sotha Sil. Little is known about the Compact but it is theorized that it prevents the Princes from directly manifesting on Nirn. It is also speculated that, in order to secure the agreement of the Princes, Sotha Sil either made a credible threat to them or presented a significant offer in exchange.
( SECOND ERA )
In 2E 582, the Mages Guild was expelled from Cyrodiil and became fractured due to the Alliance War, despite claiming neutrality in the war. Although he had had nothing to do with the guild in life, Shalidor returned to the affairs of mortals in order to win back Eyevea from Sheogorath so that it could serve its original purpose and act as a sanctuary for the guild.
Sheogorath agreed to give Shalidor the means of reclaiming the island if his champion agreed to complete four trials for the Prince's amusement. An adept of the Mages Guild agreed to undertake the Trial of Eyevea, and was then subjected to various inane tests. At the end of each trial, the guild was given a tome containing clues to returning Eyevea to Mundus. Valaste, the guild's Master of Incunabula, took on the burden of decrypting these books, as Shalidor himself was forbidden to read them. The guild was eventually successful in restoring the island, but as a final test, Sheogorath neglected to remove Eyevea's Daedric guardians before returning it. As such, it was swarming with Golden Saints and Dark Seducers, which needed to be cleared out. With that done, the adept was forced to fight Haskill to finally clear the island of Sheogorath's influence.
In the same year, Sheogorath turned his gaze to Southpoint, and took advantage of a disgruntled mayor who claimed to have lost his birthright. The mayor demanded power to gain the respect he needed for his position, but Sheogorath instead cursed his tongue with madness, and let him make a mess of the town. With madness pouring into Southpoint, its citizens began killing one another in the streets and Dominion soldiers cordoned off the town. The Vestige ended the madness, dealing with both the corrupt Imperial mayor and the Daedric Prince, and the city remained in the Dominion until its eventual dissolution.
Soon after, Sheogorath donned the guise of the Skooma Cat and ravaged the Two Moons at Tenmar Temple in Anequina. To receive a premonition or message from the Twin Moons, instead of using moon sugar in her ceremony, the temple's moon-bishop had used the dangerous narcotic skooma, and Sheogorath came to her. He plotted to convince the priests to blind themselves with the Fork of Horripilation in order to be hidden from the dragons that plagued Elsweyr. Sheogorath was stopped by the Vestige, who located and confiscated the Fork, and rescued the Moon-Bishop from his clutches.
Sometime before 2E 582, the witch Naenra Waerr created the sword Umbra at the request of Clavicus Vile, who wanted the sword as a tool of mischief which would send him souls from the mortal realm. Naenra created the sword, but it was unstable, requiring Vile to give the witch a piece of his power to be imbued in the sword in order to stabilize it. However, Naenra (sometimes credited with being Sheogorath in disguise) supposedly tricked him, as the piece of Vile's power imbued in the sword became a sentient being which called itself Umbra. Naenra was executed for her evil creation, but the sword remained behind, becoming the identity to those unfortunate enough to wield it.
( THIRD ERA )
In the events leading up to the Warp in the West, an unknown agent of the Blades summoned Sheogorath and dispatched a battlemage who had displeased the Prince. In return, the agent was given the Wabbajack by a worshiper of Sheogorath.
Sheogorath is a known visitor to the Blind God's realm of Mantellan Crux within Aetherius. Sheogorath, who was visiting the Blind God at the time, aided the Agent of the Blades retrieve the Mantella. Because of this, Sheogorath inadvertently played a key role in the events that led up to the Warp in the West.
In 3E 427, Sheogorath tasked the Nerevarine with retrieving the Fork of Horripilation from Big Head, a mad Argonian hermit and a worshiper of Sheogorath who lived in a small shack on an island in the Sheogorad region of Morrowind. Sheogorath instructed the Nerevarine with an odd task, to kill a giant Bull Netch with the fork. Big Head willingly gave the fork to the Nerevarine, who then killed the Bull Netch and returned the fork to Sheogorath, and was rewarded with the Spear of Bitter Mercy. How Sheogorath came into possession of the spear is unknown.
In 3E 433, Sheogorath was aided by the Hero of Kvatch in tormenting the Khajiit settlement of Border Watch in Cyrodiil. The inhabitants were very superstitious, and were driven into a state of frenzy when the Prince simulated their K'sharra Prophecy, said to mark the end of the world. These occurrences were reported in a special edition of the Black Horse Courier newspaper entitled Rain of Burning Dogs!. As a reward, the Hero received the Wabbajack.
At the end of the Third Era, in order to deal with the coming Greymarch that threatened to destroy the Shivering Isles once again, Sheogorath manifested a portal upon the Niben Bay, and invited a champion into the Isles. As the portal was an invitation and posed no danger to Mundus, the Coldharbour Compact was not violated.Ā The Hero of Kvatch mantled Sheogorath, and defeated Jyggalag and the forces of Order. In doing so, the Hero finally broke the cycle, and Jyggalag himself stated he was free from the curse. Nonetheless, the "Gentleman With a Cane" continued to stroll through Tamriel, and, as always, one can never be sure what his visits will bring.
( FOURTH ERA )
Circa 4E 180, Sheogorath disguised himself as a mad Breton by the name of Theodor Gorlash (an anagram of "Lord Sheogorath"), and encouraged the Warrior to enter a portal outside the town of Rivercrest. The portal led to the Abyss, a mysterious realm of Oblivion consisting of a never-ending series of rooms and corridors, both real and unreal at the same time, which together form an endless dungeon.
In 4E 201, the former Bosmer High Priest of Mania, Dervenin, who at the time seemed like a simple beggar, convinced the Last Dragonborn to assist him in finding his master. This resulted in the Dragonborn unknowingly entering the mind of the dead Pelagius Septim III, tasked with convincing Sheogorath to return to the Shivering Isles. He agreed to return them, but only if the Dragonborn could escape Pelagius' mind. Sheogorath decided to assist the Dragonborn by providing the Wabbajack, along with instructions on how to use it to remedy Pelagius of his insanity. Having completed several challenges and conquering the dead emperor's inner fears, the Dragonborn was able to return to Tamriel, but not before being given the Wabbajack by Sheogorath as a parting gift.
š other vettable information . . .
When meditating on Xher presence and name, Sheogorath brings:
visions of:
ācrazyā cats ⢠piles of cheese ⢠lettuce, yarn, and gems together
smells of:
cheese
sounds of:
cats yowling
feelings of:
a cat on your lap ⢠being watched
Rarely, Sheogorathās presence might bring with it an uptick in psychosis. Xhe says this is an unfortunate side effect of His power, and generally tries to keep followers from falling into it too deeply.Ā
ā” notes . . .
Sheogorath likes to mess with his followers and give them harmless laughs. This tends to manifest as Sheogorath sending weird things to you for fun to laugh at.
While in Elder Scrolls canon, Sheogorath is treated with āfearful obeisanceā, and is regarded as a God you must fear to be safe with, and that fear is a core part of His respect ā Sheogorath really doesnāt follow much to that.Ā
Though, like all Daedric Princes, Sheogorath isnāt much to be messed with. If youāre a piece of shit, Theyāll not hesitate to punish you very harshly and cruelly.
Just Sheogorath isnāt this like⦠hyper-violent person!Ā
Sheogorath is often followed around by and tended to by his Chamberlain, Haskill.
It is my personal belief that ānot having time to do witchcraftā is a common misconception that a lot of people have. Sure, you may not have the time to devote an entire hour to a ritual, and maybe spending the day cooking up offerings for your deities just doesnāt fit into your busy schedule. But hear this: witchcraft is a lifestyle, a way of life, much like a religion. It influences how we do things and the way we see the world, not always the things that we do.
Okay but how do I do this?
Hereās a list of simple (and some secret!) ways you can incorporate witchcraft into your everyday life:
Prayer to Vivec for Gender Affirmation from Others
-- ( This prayer is as it says on the tin, to make others see you as your gender and affirm it. )
Great Vivec, Dual-Gendered, You who exists outside of the gender binary Yourself,
I plead upon You now, to bless me with affirmations.
I seek for others to see me as me, as my gender that I truly am,
and in this prayer I acknowledge Yours.
You, Great God and Saint, I see You now, and I see You as You.
Please, Kind God and Saint, Vivec, Vekh,
Please lead the way for others to affirm me and see me as me.
So. For those that donāt know Iām heavily considering adding the ALMSIVI to my personal pantheon. Is it super silly? Kinda yeah. But I also keep thinking about it. And the thought wonāt leave me alone lmao
Especially as someone who has some pretty extreme self esteem issues and struggles with desperately wanting to be more then I am, and the pursuit of knowledge and āpowerā being a core part of my personal motivations. Idk, it just seems to fit.
Localise your practice. You donāt need to offer the things traditionally associated with your deity if you donāt have them. No wheat or barley to offer Renenutet? The dandelion in your garden will do just fine if thatās what fits your practice. No moonstone for Artemis? A pretty rock you picked from the forest will look amazing on her altar.
Our gods were worshipped around a wide geographical range, with diverse cultures, plants and animals. Donāt let the unavailability of certain resources stop you from worshipping in a way that is authentic to you.
