if you’re offline or away and i message you something (like a link to a meme or a picture or w/e) honestly just assume that i’m just leaving it there for when you get back and not expecting you to answer straight away. i don’t need you to respond with “hey, sorry, i wasn’t at the computer!” or anything. i was leaving u a gift for later.
This also applies if you’re online and just don’t want to or have the energy to deal with humans in the moment. Just because we have the ability to reply in real time does not mean we have the obligation.

Hello! I saw on your FAQ that you wanted to learn Icelandic. I got really excited because I haven't seen anyone with an interest in that language, and I thought I'd drop by to wish you good luck for when you start studying the language! I've always wanted to learn Icelandic, but I haven't found many resources for it.
Thank you so much, good luck with your language studies too!
And there are TONS of resources. Seriously. I have loads. I’ll link the Icelandic resources I have access to/know of below!
This folder, called “All Language Grammar”, is literally A GODSEND. In there you will find resources for literally every language you could want to learn - even conlangs, dead languages, proto-languages and indigenous languages! It’s heavenly. There are loads of Icelandic books in there (go Indo-European > Germanic then scroll to Icelandic. I can count eight textbooks in there alone).
This Memrise course and its follow-up course. They’re both by a user called Baas who has made courses in literally every language you can imagine. They truly are an angel sent from the heavens. Here is the link to the courses he has made, use Ctrl+F or the “search webpage” function and type in the English name of the language you want to learn. You’ll probably find at least one course in it!
Here are the University of Iceland’s free online Icelandic courses! They’re totally free (although they offer some paid courses for those who want direct contact with a tutor and assessments).
Here is the 101languages.com page for Icelandic, which has word lists, grammar explanations, a dictionary, and more! This one is mega-useful and again, is free.
Here is the Glosbe dictionary for Icelandic, which has thousands of definitions and is super great! In case you’ve never used it before, Glosbe has dictionaries for almost every language in the world, be it living or dead, plus dialectal dictionaries. It’s also totally free!
Doing a quick Google search will probably uncover hundreds more free Icelandic resources but I just thought to give you links to those that I know of. There are also a few blogs here on Tumblr teaching the language, too! I hope this helps. ^^
Gangi þér vel!
Enjoyed the bubble sounds!
oh this is an EXCELLENT noise
Between the Arkenstone, the One Ring, and that cache of magic swords Bilbo uncovered during Thorin and company’s confrontation with the trolls that just happened to be the former property of the High King of the Noldor, Bilbo and Gandalf’s relationship is just a constant process of Bilbo showing up with some random artifact of world-changing significance and Gandalf sagely stroking his beard and making a pithy remark while internally screaming “WHERE DO YOU KEEP FINDING THESE THINGS”.
argument: hobbits basically step-down voltage converters for magic. that’s what they’re for. they improve the local soil conditions by eating sixty meals a day and shitting it all out again, and they also take big magic and convert it harmlessly and without any unpleasant side effects into small magic. small magic is then stepped down into no magic.
like, gandalf’s fireworks are small magic and in the shire they’re just combustion, just slightly cooler than what hobbits can already do with gunpowder. bilbo’s use of Big Fucking Deal Magic Items only really employed them as such when he was outside the shire, running along at the same speed in the same situations as dwarves and elves and once-in-an-era heroic men–and even then, he still employed magic items in a much more sensible and less High Fantasy way than his companions. as soon as he got back to the shire and was surrounded by other hobbits, the one ring was simply a neat trick and sting was a letter opener.
when frodo took the ring back out of the shire, the further he got from it, and the less hobbits it had around, the more power it regained. if gandalf hadn’t flipped out and demanded the ring be destroyed by volcano, burying it for a thousand years in the shire might also have worked fine. like, it was safely hidden for centuries by smeagol, despite the fact that he was hiding under a mountain full of evil goblins, and it only managed to get as far away as the shore of a lake he patrols all the time….before getting picked right back up by another fucking hobbit.
hobbits are meant to be sensible, ordinary, decent folk, and to enforce that decency and sense on whatever they get their hands on, and then to go have lunch. i think gandalf gets a huge kick out of this.

today im thinking about the huge buff bread guy from kikis delivery service. highly underrated guy
Genuinely just a good man. Wife adopts teenage witch that needs a place to stay in the city? Sure. Even though you got a kid on the way? That’s fine. Cat too? Love cats.
My favorite moment with him is when he goes to get some prepped baking sheets and he does this fancy twirl with them in front of Jiji. Like, there’s no other people in the room, he does this to impress a cat.
I don’t think he ever says more than a whole word the entire movie, and I still love him more than most Disney princes based on this one moment alone.
And the part where he wanted to surprise Kiki by making that beautiful elaborate sign OUT OF BREAD to advertise her business and he was all anxious for her to get home and see it
But then when he sees her coming he gets all bashful and runs away 😭
anyway! the banana bread vendor at the farmers market is called "better than sex" but this year they changed it to "almost better than sex" which means the bread is just worse this year or girlie got some good dick since last summer
Are you available?

funny story my 5th grade elementary school teacher was the one who figured out i had crazy bad adhd
i hope she’s doing well
I wish rich people went back to keeping artists as pets. Like when you’re wealthy enough you pick a cool weirdo to do regular commissions for you, and if you really want to flex on your peers, you’ve got several.
And you visit them every once in a while like “hello, I’ve paid for your rent and your tools, have you worked on that commission giant oil painting of me getting sucked off by my political opponent, who is unfortunately still the mayor of this town, like I requested?”
And your favourite feral art person looks up - mouth full of gravel and completely surrounded by art-related trash like “no, but I designed a helicopter.”
And you’re like “that’s fucking lit, the mayor doesn’t have a helicopter. Please carry on as you have.”
Make Do and Mend: Darning
OMG DIAGONAL!!!
To keep it S–T–R–E–T–C–H–Y–!
Why hasn’t anyone told me this?
I’m all for darning and mending clothes. 🖤🖤
I interrupt my (mostly) crochet blog for this darn reblog. 🤣 ❤🧵
HOLY SHIT I NEVER KNEW HOW TO DO THIS YES
I saw a blog post about darning socks, specifically, that recommended embroidery floss as opposed to standard thread.
Also, a darning ball is basically something roughly egg-shaped, smooth, and solid (so you can’t accidentally sew into it). A billiard ball or smooth rock , or something drum-shaped like a rounded pill bottle, work just as well.
Don’t use a lightbulb. Too fragile.
So many TV shows/movies depict the Epi Pen as a total solution for anaphylaxis...it's not. The Epi Pen gives you 30 minutes to get to a hospital where they can save your life. TV makes it look like you just have to use the Epi Pen and then the crisis is over. Do people without allergies or a loved one with allergies know that an Epi Pen only buys you time? The more I see this on TV the more I worry...
**Maybe you should reblog this because I'm actually worried that most people don't know.
Omg so much this! I have to use my epipens about three times a year and my doctor recommends I shoot both of them in my thigh and then call an ambulance! They are a STABILISER not a cure!!
OH MY GOD I DID NOT KNOW THIS
working with textiles is a trap. first they lure you in with knitting. then you pick up crochet (understandable enough). next you start getting curious in fiber. you learn how to spin (okay that’s a bit extra). weaving is cool, right? you now own a loom. heck, while we’re at it, why not starting making your own clothes (this is getting out of hand)? spinning is no longer enough for you — you need something stronger. you learn how to dye (stop i’m begging). dye is fun, but it’d be nice to have your own source of fiber. you are now a shepherd.
