Shirbert Parallels in 2x1 and in 3x8
Love is a tricky thing. Sometimes it feels like an undeniable force that hits between the eyes and doesn’t let up. Other times it’s malleable, questionable, its truth hidden in and amongst external obstacles, and internal circumstances that have formed who you are, what you expect in the world, and how you can accept love.
Everyone say thank you joe
I’m just picturing Taylor sitting on her bed with her guitar and playing Lover for Joe for the first time and my heart is BURSTING. 💖💗💓💘💕

2017 in review || (6/15) ↦ Most Cathartic Drama(s)
⤷ Chicago Typewriter, Tomorrow With You, Rebel Hong Gil Dong, If We Were A Season, Individualist Ms. Ji Young
Chicago Typewriter: I started crying at episode 14 and didn’t stop until the end. I knew from the start that the Joseon Youth Alliance trio could never have their HEA, but that did nothing to prepare me for the pure and beautiful pain they dished out over the course of their rebellion failing. From Soo Hyun and Hwi Young’s goodbye in the alleyway to Soo Hyun “falling asleep” to a dream of Hwi Young, I didn’t stop crying. Making that gif hurt me, but in a really good way.
Tomorrow With You: I talked so much smack about this drama, then I started watching it after a certain epic disappointment, and then it killed me. In a very good way. I love separations and I love reunions. This drama delivered on both.
Rebel Hong Gil Dong: Ga Ryung and Gil Dong had me in tears way too many times to count. Between the both of them thinking back to the time they were happiest (together) before their “deaths”, and Gil Dong dreaming of her because he missed her so much, and all the lovely sickbed scenes, the drama capitalized on the natural conflict between their love for each other and Joseon’s need for the rebellion. Episode 29 is always bookmarked for when I need a good cry.
If We Were A Season: It was short and sweet and beautiful and heartwarming, and once I had finished, I didn’t know what to do with myself. It’s super underrated, and given that it’s only an hour long, it’s one I recommend to EVERYONE. Hae Rim’s line about ending with a hug can be applied to all of my non-endgame ships, so I’ll always be grateful for that.
Individualist Ms. Ji Young: I was fine for most of this drama. And then Ji Young’s dam broke. Her wishing she could cry when she wanted to and laugh as much as she wished resonated with me in ways I hadn’t even thought about. She made me brave, and crying with her was healing for me.
I love that feeling after I’ve had a good cry over a drama, and dramas this year have given me plenty of opportunities to get dehydrated. This is essentially a roundup of the dramas that made me cry the hardest (and are incidentally some of my favourites). I couldn’t pick just one.
“I think a tight hug is good for an ending. That seems more heart-warming, and it feels like their story hasn’t ended yet.”
I’m willing to die in this palace.
