the concept of a site that doesn't even allow porn requiring age verification for mature content. you gotta give us your legal id or else we'll hide random posts that were incorrectly flagged from you
@staff
Submit a complaint, like we did with the reblogs update. probably won’t be as effective since they’re trying to comply in advance with legal bullshit that they take more seriously than the privacy of their users, but still.
Scroll the reblogs on the announcement for good points to raise. If nothing else, according to Tumblr’s own policy you have to be 13 years old to make an account, so any account that was made more than 5 years ago must be at least 18 years of age or is already breaking policy, thereby making it not Tumblr’s problem.
and please for the love of fuck don’t give them your ID.
For now, it looks like if you don’t hand over your identity, you’ll just be locked out of “mature” posts (which include paintings of fruit, but not sexually explicit ads, even though actual human-made porn isn’t allowed at all regardless of content tag). Worst case, you will be okay without tumblr. Believe me, I don’t want to leave either, but I will if the alternative requires me to doxx myself
God- Tumblr, I understand wanting some kind of Internet safety for kids- but here? Where you already have to be 13+ to make an account, already room away all the pornography things, and where people mostly come to to escape every other social media?
All adding this need to give an ID will do, is open the possibility for people to steal said identity! Its not going to help anyone or stop anyone from being on this site, all it will do is put people in danger!
i’ve been thinking about this and desperately searching for it for months
life-altering.
contrary to popular belief not everyone has an innate sense of internal gender or care to have one or seek a name for it, some people go their whole lives without questioning their occupation in one of two gender roles, but for some people, if pressed, they don’t feel that internal sense of ‘i am a woman’ or ‘i am a man’, and in that case i feel the switch over to transgender vs cisgender relies on active identification of a gender other than the one they were assigned. if someone’s like ‘idk dude I just work here’ then that’s valid
#i would describe my gender as not exactly ‘idk dude i just work here’ #more like…..when someone assumes you work somewhere that you don’t #but you know how to help them so you do it anyway #my gender is wearing a red shirt at a target
These are the best tags
A portion of people in the notes are like ‘but that makes you trans. That’s called being agender’ and another portion of people are going ‘this is how the majority of cis ppl feel and it’s NOT agender’ and personally I feel like both of them are missing the point here. Yes a lot of people identify as agender because of this feeling. Yes a lot of people with this same feeling still identify as cis. These are not mutually exclusive experiences and it doesn’t mean the agender people are secretly cis or the cis people are secretly agender. It just means they have very similar experiences of gender that they choose to conceptualize and label differently, and neither of them are mistaken or wrong to do so.
I've gotten asked more than once how I knew I was non-binary, and each time my answer is the same.
It was a slow process of feeling out what I did and didn't like being labeled as. Some people know what they like being labeled as and some don't. There's also a never ending (and sometimes contradicting) number of meanings for each label.
Humans don't fit in boxes, if you were ever one of those kids that took the "Divergent" book tests or Hogwarts "which house are you" tests- you either get more then one answer or a random answer that doesn't 100% feel right. Because nothing that puts humans into one group is right.
Doesn't stop me from saying I'd be a Hufflepuff, even though I've gotten both Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. Hufflepuff feels right to me.
Just like any label I use for myself, even those that I use slightly different from someone else.
Because humans are complicated but we like our lists, our boxes, our organization- WE will never perfectly fit in any of the boxes we make for yourself, but if putting yourself into specific boxes makes you happy- then no one should yell about you being in a different box.
Its your box, your label. It makes you happy and helps both you and others understand YOU. Not the person next to you, or someone like you, or who thinks like you- but YOU
Tiger suup
If aliens every came down to Earth and asked me what big organization perfectly summarized the human race, I think I'd point them towards NASA and the reactions the human race has to them. Because with the information I do know... it is perfect at showing just that.
We as a race trive to explore, for the adventures of learning new things and seeing the unknown. Traveling beyond our home to find new land, new people, new experiences.
NASA's mission is to travel space, to continue to send things and people out to learn more about the universe we sit in and the scientists there can be so emotional about it all. They got the whole world sobbing over a drones last seconds of battery power before it shut off for good, they keep getting us excited about new missions and sometimes wax poetically about space without even meaning to- about whats out there or about how what we find could further help us here on earth.
It is beautiful and emotional and NASA can be so romantic in what it does. I mean- look at Artemis II, it had parts from failed missions, bringing those with it to space and back and the reaction to it all was just... Beautiful. Just scrolling on tiktok you can see people talking about how all the failed missions were watchinv over Artemis II to get everyone home safe, or how Artemis II was able to bring those failed missions out to see space or to finally bring those missions home and it all made me cry because its all so sad but so beautifully human of us to do that.
"The Challenger finally got to see the stars and The Columbia was finally able to come home"
"Apollo I protected the launch, The Challenger protected the ascent, Laika and Felicette protected and guided them to the moon and back, The Columbia protected the landing"
Its all so heart breaking but in such a good way. It made my chest ache and made me smile because so many people used Artemis II to heal and to bring back all the history of those failed missions in a way we can all digest.
And yes, I know NASA has done terrible things. The Challenger is evidence of that. But humans as a whole can do terrible things, there are rotten apples in the basket of humanity but thats not what I'd ask the aliens to dwell on. I'd ask them to look at how everyone reacted to those bad moments, towards those bad people. How engineers and scientists BEGGED and pleaded because they knew it was dangerous and they cared so much even if they never met the 7 who went up and especially if they did. How those watching looked upon the sky and still held the memory of what they saw, mourned it when they didn't know those astronauts. And to look at how we still kept going.
Kids still grew up wanting to see space, or to help others touch the stars. NASA was still able to keep making missions to continue to explore the universe- we still sent people to space! Even after watching how people purposefully put 7 peoples lives in danger- how they had killed them, others still put their trust in NASA to get them and their loved ones safely up there then back home. And if that isn't so beautifully human of us.
We collect in front of radios and tv's and in groups on grass to watch each launch we can. Its easy to miss the news of it but those who do know come to see the lift-off. Are there to cheer and support and dream and wonder! We put peices of failed atfempts together to help it work, and when it still doesn't or it goes horribly wrong we still keep trying.
We're at the core of our species are stubborn and kind and clever, we romanticize everything we do both past and future, we get emotional over animals smaller then us and on our food chain, we cry over inanimate objects singing during its last ounce of battery because we accidentally programed it to be so human and to be so alive! We came together and cried over an anglerfish swimming to the oceans surface, we're currently trying to help one whale get back into open waters since the beginning of this month!
We can be so cruel and unkind, mean and torturous, but those around the cruelness will meet it with patience and pleads to be better.
To be kind, to be human.
Mini rant, but one thing I like a lot about Martha is how often she remembers her family- how many times in the show she remembers the people back in earth.
So many of the doctors companions (9's and ups at least- honestly still need to watch classic who) seem to forget their life on earth. We didn't really see or hear any of the other companies being worried about the people back on earth- but Martha constantly mentions that if something happened her family wouldn't know, or she's beinging up her mom or dad, or her sister or brother and it just makes me love her so much.
Like yeah, she's traveling with the doctor- she's seeing all these amazing and terrifying things. But she still remembers her family :)
Theres a part of season 3, episode 8- "42" that makes me cackle just a bit due to the strangeness of it.
So for a small refresher (spoilers ahead)
42 has Martha and 10 stuck on a cargoship thats hurtling into a sun- engines off and unable to escape the stars gravity as both the temperature and tension rises. On top of that, one of the crew gets "possessed" or infected by something that allows him to vaporize people just by looking at them-
While all of this is going on- they just found out a crew member was murdered, were ordered to not engage with the "possessed" individual, etc. One of the crew members is alone and asked to hurry back with tools-
Now, heres the bit that makes me cackle-
The crew member mutes the coms and starts complaining about being told to go get things- like, hell of a time to grumble about her job- she's all "mememe- get this, fetch that- get coffee- blahblahblah- kill me now-!" Then she ends up dying.
Like yeah, that kinda sounds like a sucky job on a normal day- but you're hurtling towards a sun with the only hope being getting the engines working, of course they're gonna be more on your ass about getting stuff
Since I am once again rewatchinv doctor who, I wanted to talk about how angry the 11th doctor is.
Like yeah, the rest of the doctors have that rage, but the 11th doctor shows it the most. The 10th is pretty close, especially in their later episodes, but the 11th is something else.
His anger is palpable, its ferocious and destructive in a way that feels the most like the stories we keep being alluded to. His companions died under his care, innocents got in the way of his anger more then a few times, not even mentioning all of what Demon Run was.
A few of my friends and I agree on a big aspect of the 11th, which was that if they were around when the family of blood attacked instead of 10, the school would've become a crater. Hell, they probably wouldn't have even made it to the school- the family of blood would've just be dead- obliterated, especially if his companion was in any way the line of fire.
This isn't a post about hating the 11th doctor, quite the opposite actually. I love that we got to see the extent of the doctors anger and the devastation it leaves behind. A lot of people in the show comment om how 9 and 10 run from the aftermath of whatever adventure they go on- how they fly away in their blue box, but for me it never really felt like a comment that had weight until 11 came along.
9 and 10 did some amount of damage control, the aftermath was never to terrible- most people lived, hurt maybe, but living.
Then 11 came along and the comment of them flying away in their tardis felt like it fit more, it had weight and evidence to it now. More damage left untouched by them, more people killed- partly due to what they were fighting and partly due to them having to rethink what was actually happening more then once (like really, it happened so mamy times and I feel like not enough people talk about how many lives that cost) and some even due to their own ego/rage.
And I mean rage.
11 literally caused a genocide because the leader didn't remember one girls name- they were livid about that- All of their enemies and allies came together to lock 11 away in the Pandorica- like yes it could have been due to combination of their past regenerations as well but they went after 11's face which makes me think the allegiance was mostly worried about the acts 11 was going to/will do. Not to mention the amount of times their anger almost lead to killing someone or lead to them actually killing someone- Town Called Mercy, Demons Run, the almost people, etc.
11 puts on this showmanship act, smiles and cunning and loud and big movements but you can still see and hear how angry they are. In their tone, in their facial expressions, (for real- Matt smith does a really good job on both).
When I think of 11, theres a lot of things I think of. Clara, a Fez, their screwdriver, my first favorite doctor- and these days how pissed he is through most of the show.
Again, I love how we got to see it. The anger of the doctor. Maybe not at its full capacity, but there enough to make them make mistakes and be messy, enough to cause visible destruction- it for real is like the 11th is just the personification of their rage.
I think a lot of people don't notice their rage as 11, they're seen so much as the "goofy" doctor with their funny words, hand gestures and silly little mannerisms. And don't get me wrong, 11 is goofy- which just makes their rage even more of an interesting thing in my opinion. Their anger held behind a thin layer of goofs and gags, child-like behavior with the understanding of social ques of a rock and constent "oops- my bad, shouldn't have added that- uhm- awkward-"
So yeah. 11 is a mad man in a box, while also being so very mad at everything, and I love it :)
Self-help book guided Big Bad Wolf is THEE prototype of the ideal problematic male character.
All my fandom crushes can be blamed back on him.
And I know for a fact that when I started shipping Reylo after the first movie, it was because I saw Wolf and Virginia in them.
He is the reason for every "I can fix him"
While Virginia didn't fix him, his want to be worthy of her love did-
He only read all those books and actually tried to change because he got love at first sight and felt he NEEDED to be better for her. Which I honestly love, cause its how a good relationship should be in my opinion, you want to be the best you can for your spouse- not because they want you to be but because YOU want to be. Its the only reason Wolf actually became a better person.
He fixed himself for her :)
Chewing on the fact that Rose-as-Bad-Wolf, à la goddess of Time style, says things that seem like the laws of the universe: “Everything must come to dust. All things. Everything dies.”
But then she proceeds to resurrect Jack permanently because whatever is still human in her refuses to let one of the men she loves stay dead.
Just. The tonal whiplash from “everything must die” to “I bring life (to One Specific Individual Only)”.
She loves the Doctor so much that she became a goddess to save him, and she loves Jack so much that the goddess she became brought him back to life permanently.
And I could talk about it for days.
They are THE polycule, your honor
First & Last Words: Doctors 9-15
Something I love about the last wods of each doctor is that you can alays feel ghe goodbye from the actor in each one- them saying goodbye to the title, to working as the doctor, and passing on the torch to a new actor/actress.
They also each do such an amazing job at summerizing the doctors existence in a good bye
As much as I miss each doctor that passes, its bittersweet. Like they actually did die and I'm remembering all their fond memories, all summed up in a few words, or a sentence. All that feeling bled almost perfectly into a farewell.
Christopher Eccleston as Ninth Doctor Doctor Who Season 1 | 26 March – 18 June 2005
Nine is my favorite Doctor.
Now I LOVE Ten. (David Tennant, the absolute weirdo Trans-rights Queer activist you are.) HOWEVER he got five years. Multiple specials, cameos, comebacks. Christopher Eccleston got ONE. Only a handful of episodes to revive this beloved Brit series, long gone stale.
And this absolute brilliant madman.
“Nice to meet you, Rose! RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! :D”
As a new-Who watcher, I did not understand the implications of The Time War. What it meant, that this Doctor was The Last.
It depended on Eccleston to get it across. The weight of this grief. Even when he dances, makes jokes about bananas, flirts, it is ALL filtered through this story choice. He can do anything, except save the Time Lords. He’s the last. He will always be the last.
Stories do best with constraints.* When they establish a point of Consequences. There is no going back, not even for the immortal Doctor. He cannot rewrite everything.**
Nine did more with LESS, and that’s why this whole thing worked so well. Doctor Who made it to the US with flying colors. Carried by Eccleston, breathing enough life and light to give way to his successors. It’s brilliant.
Also Nine is SO DAMN QUEER. “Buy me a drink first” + Captain Jack’s FIRST Doctor Kiss DO YOU KNOW HOW NONEXISTANT BISEXUAL REP WAS IN 2005 (and now) SKJBKJSBVJKBSKLNF
* Constraints for this season also included budget, time, and a fear it would be the only season. Plus Eccleston not being paid enough to renew his contract.
** This is my problem with most Who past Tennant, that it gets bigger and grander and The Doctor is basically a God that can do Whatever They Want and bring back all the Time Lords blah blah blah. As Nine says, “I’d make a very bad god.”
The ninth doctor (and Christopher Ecclestons amazing performance) is so underrated! On top of that, if it weren't for him we probably wouldn't have gotten ten or any of the other doctora after him- he did such a good job that they were able to make more seasons- more doctors!
Just finished rewatching the ninth doctor and I agree!!!
I do wish we got to see him make some kind of reappearance- or that we might one day see that. Rewatching his episodes makes me really miss the dynamic he had with people, I can see it in 12 (no idea if that was intentional on Peter Capaldi's part- "insulting other species when he's upset" was one of my favorite things)
Reblog if you do NOT want the new Tumblr update
Apparently, from what I hear people say, in the new Tumblr update, if someone reblogs your post and adds a comment of their own, that reblog is counted as a new post and it belongs to the reblogger. Not you. You, as the OP, do not get the notifications if someone else later reblogs from the person who reblogged your post with their own comment. You can’t see what comments people leave on the reblogs of the post you originally made unless they reblogged directly from you.
If this is actually true, it will just open doors for harassment. And also it takes the credits away from the OPs. Tumblr’s etiquette has always been “reblog don’t repost”. So this new update, if true, contradicts the whole core values of Tumblr as a community.
Respectfully, we don’t want this @staff @support @tumblr @changes please listen to your users.
I’d also like to clarify that this is what I hear from what a lot of people are saying, and it bothers me. But if I got anything wrong, I do apologize.
My "he would not fucking say that" is when people have Senshi hate on fast food or pizza, because Senshi is fully a "fed is better, just do your best" type of person and hed love fast food.
Man spends a day making candy and ice cream for everyone and then at the end is like "dang, really should have planned more well rounded meals, ah well lets fix that". He would not complain about someone knocking back half a pizza or having a big ass soda and greasy burger, hed explain how its cool to eat like that long as you try and make sure to keep yourself rounded and not neglect the food groups
My boy Senshi would be horrified at HIMSELF if he learned someones diet was mostly fast food, not at the person or the fast food-
Yeah theres that time he yelled about having a balanced diet at some other adventures but it wasn't a pissed off yell and it was only after they asked how to become stronger. We all know damn well if Senshi had the time and resources he would've made those guys food or given them left overs. Senshi is a polite dwarf who just wants everyone taken care of to the best of their abilities!
Some stranger things incorrect quotes to make your day :)
All of these are accurate, your honor.
