Whenever they gave us one of those "read through ALL the instructions before you begin!" trick assignments in school where the steps lead you on an increasingly ridiculous goose chase until the final one tells you to just put your name on the paper and turn it in without doing anything else, I was always like, "Okay, but what's the point? Surely the REAL world won't be anything like this." And then I grew up and discovered that not only is the real world often exactly like that, some people won't even read the first line of the instructions even if they make perfect sense. And these people are called "co-workers"

When people say I’m being disingenuous about Bellamy and Echo, I’m baffled. No, I’m not. I’ve already explained that if Bellarke didn’t exist, I probably would have quite liked Becho. But I still wouldn’t have *loved* them, and they never would have made it onto my list of favorite couples from the show—or even my favorite "enemies-to-lovers" pairings. Simply put, we don’t see them naturally evolve into lovers. We see them allied by circumstance in Season 2—due to the cages—which cements their bond, but then they become enemies again because of their respective clans in season 3. Later, in season 4, they ally once more when Echo is in deep trouble and saves Bellamy to secure a favor. So, they become allies again. And we see that their mutual understanding leads them to finally become friends. The problem is, we never really see that friendship phase, let alone the transition from friends to lovers. We skip straight to the lovers stage in season 5, with no flashbacks to fill in the gaps. So, whether you like it or not, Becho is objectively poorly written. It’s a shame for a relationship built up over Seasons 2, 3, and 4, only to have everything botched in Season 5. The only logical explanation would have been for them *not* to be the endgame couple—Bellarke should have been.
