回程667 If there is a milestone in illustration, this is one of them. I am humbled to be given the opportunity to work on this poster for Royston Tan's 回程667, a compilation of short films by Eva Tang, He Shuming, Liao Jiekai, Jun Chong and Kirsten Tan on their personal exploration of their dialect roots. Also making an appearance is Boo Junfeng in Liao Jiekai's short film. . The illustration is inspired by the themes of travel, specifically covering some places from China such as Qionghai (瓊海) in Hainan, Huangpu (黃埔) in Guangzhou and Qianmei Village （前美村) in Shantou. The work is also driven by personal memories of painted movie posters I used to see at the cinemas at Clementi and Queenstown during my primary school days. . The short films will be screened next week on the 25th of May at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre designed by @dparchitects . . Finally bought my copy of "On the Yellow Top", a sticker book that pays homage to the iconic yellow and black taxis as well as the estates of Dakota and Katong. I have imagined the book as a sort of journal or passport to scribble on with stickers of places you have been to, inspired by the stamps in Japan and passports. . Supermama is one of the exhibitors at the upcoming exhibition at the Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre next week which was designed by DP Architects. Pitt Street Sungei Road Thieves' Market . City change as time passes even for a city Kyoto, known for its historical assets. In Singapore where home is, the change feels more significant and at times ruthless. Heritage is more than just keeping buildings and facades. It is the people, the stories, the memories and culture that gives a place its character and life. Drawing is one of the ways to document the places in life just like individuals who did so with a camera, dance, poetry, literature and more. . Looking through Lee Kip Lin photos from the 1970s to 1980s, it is pity we have lost much. I am appreciative that is is a growing body of works documenting the places around us in different ways. It is through them, remedy amnesia, revisit lost places, continue the journey and discover our roots and cherish the present as one would do in life with family and friends. . 雙溪路跳蚤市場 . 城市不斷得改變，日本的古都京都也一樣。但新加坡變化好快,因為在這裡長大,這家鄉的變化有時好冷酷。想想小時候梁宙的咖啡店和濱海灣的火鍋餐館已不在，又看了李急麟七十八十年代的照片，覺得十分惋惜，無奈。繪畫這不斷變化的家鄉是我的日志，就像詩人用詩，作家用文筆，攝影師用影片和照相。雖然不能親自探索國家劇院或看到當年的同濟醫院，但通過賴启健老師的書，楊茳善老師的研究我還能見識到這些地方的歷史色彩。 . 城市變化雖自然但保留歷史色彩不是單單保留一個建築物的樣貌。一個地方經過歲月不斷成長，它有一代又一代釀製的故事和特色，希望大家珍惜眼前的家鄉和世界, 就像人生一樣不要留下遺憾。 . It was an adaptation of a drawing that didn't make it to the final version of a project. The pavilions in it are by Smiljan Radić (2014) and Bjarke Ingels (2016) at the Serpentine Galleries.
