I haven't come across the term "asperian" before... I'm curious about the origin and usage in reference to a woman with Aspergers :) Please elaborate? Thanks!

Hello! As far as I know, it is just a word that I made up in reference to my autism. I’m sure someone else has used it before me, but when I named my blog, I hadn’t heard it before. I was having difficulty coming up with a blog name about autism that wasn’t already taken, so I just made up a word. It is similar to “aspergian” which is often used by autistics to reference ourselves. 

As I use it, “asperian” doesn’t have to specifically reference autistic women. It can be used to reference anyone on the spectrum, regardless of gender identity. If you are autistic yourself, you are welcome to use it!

Virginia police department is giving officers autism training

Local news station WSET reported the 173 officers that comprise the department, in an effort to improve their responses to emergency situations, have been trained to recognize the way individuals with autism react and respond to the world around them — and the city is on the brink of becoming the first in the state to do so.

Ronnie Sitler, a member of the Lynchburg Police Department, told WSET that autism presents law enforcement with a unique spectrum of circumstances when responding to conflicts.

To the other tech corporations who think autism awareness means collecting donations for A$ while “lighting it up blue”, look at what Apple is doing. Show how autistics can benefit from your products while being more affordable than adaptive technology. Showcase autistics who helped develop for your platform.

It only took a single post for me to relate to you more than you could imagine like holy moly I was finally diagnosed a couple weeks ago so on top of everything you're going through (which is almost identical for me as well) I also have to deal with misdiagnosis and multiple side effects (including rare ones!) of all the medicines. sorry this is so long lol but I just ask of you, as I can see you and I struggling similarly, to message me anytime. Us females with Aspergers gotta stick together.

I'm so glad that my blog may be helping you through a tough time :) I will definitely message you if I need to, and of course you may do the same. I'm always here! Theasperiangirl is not my main blog actually, loudenoughtohear is. I haven't used theasperiangirl for a few months because I put everything into one blog, my main blog. I made theasperiangirl because my main blog had a few people I knew in real life on it and, at the time I wasn't ready to "come out" as an Aspie. I have now though. I post about many different things on my main blog, including autism. It must be a relief for you to finally get a correct diagnosis and not to have to deal with misdiagnoses any longer. Though I know the trauma of that can last a while. It is one of the reasons why I fear trying to get a diagnosis, as well as financial reasons. As I said, I'm always here if you need someone to talk to or just want to vent. Don't worry about your messages being too long, that will never bother me.

I am feeling suicidally depressed and I don't know what to do about it. I feel exhausted all the time, I'm not doing as well as I want to in my classes, although I'm not failing anything, not yet anyway. I want to take a semester off, but I don't know if thats the right choice or what I would even do for all that time. I feel so lost, and frustrated, and sad. I have so much stress at home and I have so much stress at school that I feel like I can't cope anymore. I can't focus or concentrate on anything, which is really frustrating  for me. I don't really enjoy anything anymore. Just thinking about having to do back to school on Monday makes me feel overwhelmed and anxious. I hate myself for not living up to my own expectations. I hate myself for being stupid. I hate myself for not being normal. I hate myself for being weak. I hate myself.
