My therapist just told me my problem is that I need to write more fanfiction.
This sounds fake but the logic behind it is actually really interesting? She said obsession with a new fandom triggers quick dopamine release when we consume all this related content--it's easy and addictive.
What we're NOT getting is that 'slow dopamine' that's more sustainable and engaging. That's the kind we get from DOING things that take effort but are ultimately rewarding.
So like, she suggested that writing fic and making fanart are ways to balance the quick dopamine of watching a show/reading fic with the slow dopamine of working at something that takes effort.
Moral of the story is you should engage in the process of creation around your favorite things. You'll feel better for it.

like imagine Peter and Johnny broke up and then Peter gets hurt as spidey. he thinks heâs fine and changes back into civilian clothes only to collapse and have paramedics called for him. Johnny gets the call and of course immediately goes to the ER, not because he still has feelings Sue shut up.

Johnny felt his heart stop. Only the beeping of Peter's heart monitor filled the silence of the room after Peter fell asleep.
Peter was Spider-Man.
Peter loved him.
Peter was so traumatized and scared because of everything he had endured as a person that he couldn't let himself be with the person he loved.
It was then something tiwtses in Jkhnny's gut. Spider-Man had been around four years. Peter was eighteen. He got powers and started doing all of this, on hisnown, at fourteen. He had no official support, he was called a menace, lone wolf, a vigilante, and all sorts of others, very not jice things, by the media, by heroes, even occasionally by other vigilantes. He ensured all that alone....
Johnny squeezed his hand gently. Not anymore. Johnny wouldn't let him go non without a proper support system. He'd talk to Reed, to Sue, to Ben, he'd get everything set up.
But first, he had to do something about Green Goblin.
Johnny stepped outside of the room, telling the doctor outside the room that he was going out for lunch.
A strange fire had filled his veins. He couldn't tell if it was his actual fire or if it was just his anger, but for now, it truly didn't matter
He needed to stop Green Goblin from doing this to his boy again.
At first, he thought about doing it by himself. All he needed to do was stop the man, right?
But the more he thought about it the more he realised that going in without a proper plan wasn't going to stop the bastard and would most likely get him killed.
So he called on some of his old friends.
