My favorite way to make myself hurt emotionally to think about how the version of the Black Brothers that consumes me is completely made up. Sirius wouldn't do anything for his brother. He left and never came back with not a single regret. Regulus was a coward up until his death. He hated everything his brother stood for, and only changed when it affected him. They died resenting and maybe even hating one another. They never got their happy ending, but they didn't really deserve one, did they?

'the cure' by Olivia Rodrigo, and it's James desperately trying to see the good in Regulus and take him away from that wretched family, but he'll always be a Black in blood. It's Regulus knowing James is the best thing to ever happen to him and that he could save him if he would just let him in, but it doesn't matter how much he loves him. He'll never be able to accept it because he's not truly willing to change what he is deep down. It's Regulus feeling almost resentful of James because why can't he just fix him? Why can't love be enough?

It'll never be the cure.

okay i can't find it now but one billion mental reblogs to that post about the ways fanon will describe shane and ilya doing the same thing with very very different adjectives

why is shane fighting "bitchy" and "bratty" and when ilya gets to be "enraged" and "scornful" and a whole host of other dominating, aggressive words

i'm seeing a lot of very gendered language between the two of them across a lot of different contexts, and i'm not saying i've never participated in it/used those words but i do think it's something we should be thinking about more
