i grew up watching this movie with my mom and that line and the fact that jacqueline was made to be a good guy were always a couple of my favorite parts

other things that i love:

neither of the stepsisters are ugly

danielle saves herself, henry’s just there to profess his love

that beautiful moment where danielle saves maurice and he runs to his wife and they have a beautiful tearful reunion

everything about the wicked stepmother. hands down the best step-mother character ever in any adaptation ever. angelica huston does such an amazing job of making her human but still vile
