The kids that said "english class is useless" all grew up to make "video essays" that are just plot summaries/reviews with no analysis
kind of captivated by the selection of this clip for use in the context of Famous Jay. because it's originally a part of a Brave Shores music video (for Surf's Up, I believe), and like, yeah makes sense to pull from pre-existing music videos, allows you to show Famous Jay at a slightly younger age to further imply he's had a long career, and it's convenient to have pre-recorded footage of Jay essentially being a rockstar so that you don't have to go film more. also kind of awesome to remember that he was in a fairly successful band. he did live this life to a very toned down degree--there's some truth to the matter of Famous Jay
but, of all the clips you could pull of all the Brave Shores music videos, including just other clips from this music video (admittedly, they also made use of this from More Like You (I LOVE YOU, MORE LIKE YOU!), wonder if there's something to be said for the distortion of Jay there)
of all the clips, one that they chose to use was Jay kicking a mouse wearing a little hat. and I just find that very interesting. because, unless Jay was coincidentally also mad at Matt for something that day, I don't think kicking a mouse with a little hat Meant anything when it was filmed. it's just part of a silly (TRIPPY at points!) little video of him and Stef interacting with cartoon animals
but you put it in the context of "Jay's famous now and quite literally kicked Matt to the curb and now he's abusing an animal with a little hat", and it's hard to wonder if it's not more Intentional for Famous Jay. I feel like there'd be a sort of canon implication there that maybe Jay keeps lashing out towards Matt however he can. I mean, and we know he does. he says about how he wrote Never Come Down in a bad living situation while having nightmares. he wrote about vampires and fake friends on the Never Come Down vinyl. he LOVES to lash out to pretend that he's doing better without Matt (Jay doth protest too much, I think). so, I kinda feel like Famous Jay pointedly was like "can the little mouse I ABUSE have a hat? I'm going to kick it and then keep dancing because I'm unbothered yippee! <3" and he did that. cause he fucking sucks and he's awesome and he misses Matt and he acts like That about it
Me: i support the fetishistic nature of this content but NOT the mischaracterization

almost seven years deep into the 2020s this feels less like a retrospective evaluation and more like a prophetic vision
What you are about to see is true---
It happened in Toronto, Ontario on July 24, 2016.
fear not: you can also “attack” your friends even outside of art fight, so if you miss the chance to before august 2nd you can always get them after with no repercussions. No crime will be committed either way and its actually fine to draw art for others at any other time of the year
having a time of it
