Cassian literally growled at his brother and didn't want Nesta to scry because he knows how dangerous it is, considering what happened the last time she did.

Azriel's exact words: "Elain shouldn’t be exposed to it."

He didn’t say I won't let her scry,

he didn't say I won't allow her,

he didn't say I underestimate her,

and most importantly, he didn't say Elain isn't capable of finding the trove.

Because he has faith in her powers--he saw how in acowar, she used the dagger he gave her to save her sister and his brother... so yeah, Azriel was afraid for Elain's safety the same way Cassian was worried about Nesta's.

And just as Cassian later let Nesta scry, Azriel would have done the same. And it's not like Nesta and Elain would wait for their permission anyway.

Something I am seeing rampant chaos about is the misinterpretation of what Sarah said about POVs. Here is exactly what she said:

Sarah never said the POV was surprising. She said what came out of the POV was surprising. You get a lot of INSIGHT into various things.

That does not necessarily mean multi-pov.

Here’s the POV I think gives us “…insight into like various things…”

IMO, it’s about the character whose visions give us insight into so many things…

It’s about the character whose visions set-up the entire plot moving forward.

The amount of inSIGHT we can get from a seer is endless.

And I think we should consider that more.

I was thinking about Elain’s possible storyline and I remembered the pin of the goddess Blodeuwedd that sjm commented “Elain”.

So I searched something about her story and I found this.

Let me translate it for you:

“Blodeuwedd is also a spirit of love and beauty. Invoking her allows you to choose your lovers, not to be forced into marriage or other relationships”.

Sound familiar?

“A thing of secret, lovely beauty”

The second part is literally Elain’s story: she will choose between Azriel or Lucien and eventually she will not be forced into the mating bond.

Then I also found this.

The translation of this one is:

“Its transformation into an owl, a night bird, is therefore to indicate a marginalized creature, who lives in the darkness of the night, outcast who refused to live according to a pattern established by others. Who did not take into account what might have been her will”.

I’m not gonna comment the fact that in the myth Blodeuwedd is turned into an owl, which is a night bird, not a spring bird, or a summer bird… a NIGHT bird… if you know what I mean.

But let’s focus on the highlighted part.

In the legend Blodeuwedd refused to live by following others’ wants, who didn’t care what she really wants. Now Elain’s life has always been decided by others: first her mother (with the whole speech with Nesta about choosing Elain’s future husband because she couldn’t decide by herself) and then the cauldron (and Rhysand) with Lucien.

None of them really cared or just asked Elain what she wants, they decided for her, and she spended all her life without choosing for herself. So, yes, I think Elain’s book is about choices and, for me, the story of Blodeuwedd confirm that storyline for her. I can’t see in any other way.

I know others, who are better at making theories than me, have already spoken about Blodeuwedd, but I wanted to say my opinion.

Repopping in the world to say we (elriels) knew from the beginning Elain’s story would be about choices and free will.

Also, what the fuck is wrong with people saying she will return to GRAYSEN, who broke her heart refusing her and hate what she is now, just to fit their narrative. It’s misogynistic. And if after what Sarah said in CHD podcast about women going to her to talk about their past abusive relationships and thank her, you think this then you are the problem.

It’s ok to ship whatever you want, really, but you cannot be so detached from reality and not recognizing objective facts.

That said, I'm happy to have received another confirmation from Sarah and may be a little’ more active in the fandom again.

Very interesting observation from the interview:

Sarah slipped up and said “it was easy for Nesta and Feyre because nature picked right”, implying that in her mind nature did not pick correct for Elain…..👀👀👀👀👀

SJM was never subtle about her endgames. I don’t think she’s even trying to be.

Honestly from the moment she introduced the three sisters I think the structure was always obvious if you were paying attention. Three sisters, three brothers, and I believe all of them have mating bonds. This is a theory I have since I finished ACOMAF.

We know from Nesta and Cassian that a mating bond can be felt before it snaps. We know from Feyre and Rhys that Rhys knew she was his mate, but the bond cracked the moment she was Made, when she became fae. That’s when it fully registered for him. And with SJM having confirmed Nessian and Feysand as true mates, my theory only gets stronger.

I call it the mother bond. SJM might name it something different eventually.

Azriel and Elain:

I believe they are also true mates. And I think the faebane is significant here. When Elain was Made, Azriel wasn’t in the cauldrons register. Azriel was basically dead for it. So to save it‘s precious gift, the cauldron mated Elain with Lucien, a high fae. There could be other outcomes too.. this theory is just the most obvious/easiest one.

Azriel genuinely feels the pull toward Elain. He feels it, I’m sure of it. But it makes no sense to him, because in his understanding, a person can only have one mate. And Elain is already mated. So how does he process this pull he keeps feeling toward her? He can’t. He has no language for it. The only way it makes sense to him is if the cauldron made a mistake. That’s why he’s questioning it. And let’s not forget that he can smell the Elucien bond and it triggers him.

So, Elain has two bonds. The wrong one, which SJM herself described as mistake and not by nature. And then her actual bond, the true one, with Azriel. Neither of them has had their bond snap in the way we’ve seen with the other couples. They both exist in this in-between space where the feeling is there but neither of them has the framework to name it yet.

But honestly, I wouldn’t even mind if Elriel end up without a mating bond. In the end, their love story would still be about choosing each other and falling in love and that’s what really matters. The mating bond would just be an add-on for Elriels.

Oh but what I want for them is the carranam bond 🤭

What Sarah said about Tamlin/Feyre not working out is the exact reason I don’t see e/ucien working out.

Tamlin and Feyre worked when Feyre was human, when all she needed was safety and time to paint. But after UtM and all pf the trauma she (but also Tamlin) experienced as a result, they both changed to a point they couldn’t work.

Now taking Elain and Lucien into consideration- human Elain very well could have fallen for Lucien. A handsome, diplomatic courtier sounds like a perfect match for sweet Elain, destined to marry a nobleman.

But that version of Elain died when she went into the cauldron. That life, future, world disappeared the minute she was Made, and subsequently, the Elain that could be Lucien’s perfect mate disappeared as well.

Trauma changed Elain. We don’t even know the true extent of it as we’ve only seen her depression through other characters perspectives, but she has absolutely, irrevocably been changed both physically and mentally by this experience - just as Feyre was by hers. And Lucien being a source of that trauma and constant reminder of the worst day of her life and everything that was taken from her... How do you come back from that?
