We need to stop saying something is bad just because it makes you uncomfortable!!! A piece of media that contains controversial themes or depicts negative experiences is still worth watching, and still has something important to say!!! One of my least favorite autistic experiences is probably putting in conscious effort to learn how to Behave Appropriately (not in the sense of Masking, just interacting with other people in general) and then watching a lot of other people, autistic or otherwise, simply not do that. Like oh we're just doing whatever now? You would have flayed me alive if I acted like that
I cannot begin to express how frustrating I find it when people break the rules of being a human!!!! It’s rude to talk on the phone while in public spaces! These little infractions of rules I learned that make people perceive you well because it’s important that I am able to express myself in a way that communicates who I am drive me UP THE WALL.
These are the rules:
- if you’re on the phone in public, hang up when interacting with other humans or entering an enclosed space (transit, a public restroom, a library, etc)
- if someone directly says something to you, don’t fucking ignore them! I don’t care if they’re an unhoused person, a random tourist asking for directions, etc. I will ALWAYS at the very least say “sorry no” and move on.
- intentionally trying to offend someone is weird and cringe. This goes for all people. If you are doing something with the sole intention of eliciting a negative reaction, that’s weird and cringe. This excludes theater stuff, performance art is its own thing.
- say please and thank you. They teach it in preschool for a reason, people love when you’re polite to them and also, you are being polite.
- clean up after yourself. If you spill trail mix on the floor at work, sweep it up. Wipe down counters, etc. I have gotten multiple comments about how that’s a unique trait to me at work, and I think that is fucking insane because I know for a fact that the salaries of those people can definitely afford them five minutes off the clock to sweep up.
Basically if you are neurotypical and ignore the social rules you beat into me at the age of five, I hate you I hate you I hate you.

Ok so roads are important infrastructure. A lot of stuff that's important happens on roads. Now, let's imagine that quadrillionaire Matt Stench has decided that the next big tech innovation is the Wide Car. It's a car that takes up six lanes despite seating only one passenger.
The Wide Car is supposed to be the future, and everyone's going to be driving Wide Cars, even though nobody who makes Wide Cars is turning a profit. Employers are offering Wide Cars as an employee benefit, and getting "nah." Some employers are going as far as demanding their employees drive Wide Cars, and the result is that people take time out of their workdays to get in the mandatory gas usage for their Wide Car before driving home in a regular car.
In spite of the fact that the Wide Car is clearly set to fail, there's an enormous push to expand to twelve-lane roads to accommodate a bunch of Wide Cars that simply will not materialize. This is not an organic response to demand, but a speculative investment that amplifies the existing issues with road development for no good reason.
That is the problem.
Oh and the road infrastructure project is buying up resources other people could have used for literally anything else. With money they promise they'll be making from Wide Car sales any day now.
Okay so what I'm getting from the notes is that when you try to transplant some techbro nonsense into an offline equivalent, you have to be careful to avoid simply inventing something the Americans are already doing in real life

Working an office job will truly make you have the wildest enemies, bc why is my nemesis rn a woman I’ve never met and who exclusively haunts me by sending diabolical emails, and also a specific guy who left my company before I even worked here and made the system so fuckass that it ruined procedures for like a year
Yesterday my nemesis (woman I’ve never met and whose face I’ve never seen) sent my office an email so rude, basically saying we had fucked up every project she ever ordered from us, one of the worst emails I’ve ever read in my life.
And it pissed me off so badly that I spent the ENTIRE WORK DAY today compiling evidence from every project my team has ever done for her, pulling past emails she’d sent us, putting together an entire case proving that she had been the problem all along. That she got projects mixed up, that she’d made requests that were nonsensical, literally everything you could possibly imagine. Screenshots of emails, reports we’d submitted, EVERYTHING.
This woman in particular has been terrorizing my team for years, her name is almost a slur in my office, I had simply had ENOUGH of her.
I put all of this evidence together and sent it to all of my bosses at 4:30pm. Then I took a long break to eat a sweet treat and drink some tea.
After my break, my bosses all called in an emergency meeting with me and they said they read my report and fucking loved it. And I sat on a teams call with my boss’ boss as she wrote my nemesis the scathing email I had always fantasized about sending, using the evidence I’d compiled, and hit send.
It was the most satisfying workday I’ve had since I got hired.
My number one beef in this life is with a middle aged woman who emails me like she’s texting. One. Line. At. A. Time.
