I like the classification of “Hard vs Soft magic systems” in fantasy only because I can say that Game of Thrones has softer magic system then Fairly Odd Parents
GoT magic: plot armor, special effects fiasco
Fairly Odd Parents magic: has consequences, is limited in power and the time in which it is available to a given non-magical creature, is utterly neutral and entirely dependent on the wishes of the user
What I love about the FOP magic system most is you don’t get to know the rules before using it though. You don’t get to figure out what you can’t do until you try to do it and some buff dude with wings shows up and yells at you for trying to do it.
…and then you re-word your request and somehow do it anyway and they have to re-edit the book again cause the hubris of mistreated 10-year-olds knows no bounds.
