Anyway if you can't afford to tip you can't afford to eat out. Don't be an ass.
It used to be that a standard tip was 10%, and the wait staff actually waited on you. Then it became 15%, then 20%. Now it's 25%. And the wait staff seems to be doing less and less.
And since most tips aren't cash anymore, how does anyone know how much of that actual tip gets to the staff? The employers - or, more likely, the companies that run the card readers - could be skimming absurd amounts off the top, and how would the employees ever know?
Tipping culture has gotten out of hand.
liz truss wears a normal necklace one time and the trans community spends weeks calling it a bdsm collar because that’s so funny
one random guy wears a skirt one time and the trans community cries that everyone who saw it is guilty of sexual assault
like i know the double standard is the point but they could be a little more subtle about it
"Power is being able to say complete and utter nonsense and have it be believed, powerlessness is where no matter how much cogent evidence and proof one has, to not be believed."- Catherine MacKinnon
'Two researchers analysed how men treated women while playing 163 games of Halo 3. Men who performed poorly in the games responded by being hostile to female players.
The male winners were mostly pleasant to other players, while the losing men made unsavoury comments to female players. "Low-status males that have the most to lose due to a hierarchical reconfiguration are responding to the threat female competitors pose," the researchers, from the University of New South Wales and the Miami University in Ohio, write. "High-status males with the least to fear were more positive."'
The above two quotes are relevant here because many TIMs self identify as losers pre-transition. Also relevant is that queer culture is a counter culture movement. So these dudes failed at every self imposed standard of masculinity, decided that meant they were not men, and joined a counter culture movement where their qualities are celebrated and validated- BUT continue their loser behavior by punching down on women, trans men, etc. and throwing a complete fit whenever they receive any pushback from people they believe are below them. For most of these people the double standard is the point because they may be bottom of the barrel in any mainstream social sphere but have elevated status in their own circles.
Yall will support anti-women's organizations so long as they're also transphobic and you call people who just want to live their lives the misogynists?
Just want to live their lives

You support these sort of men, that makes you a super nasty person.
The only people who support transgenderism are misogynists.

Now, two times I have read a book which focuses on Cain's mark.
So, it must be on the Bible, but I don't recall reading that part.
The fact that a wealthy, white mother-of-two in California with access to excellent prenatal and birth care, acting as a surrogate for another family in the safest, cleanest, least coercive of all possible surrogacy arrangements, died this week while giving birth really underscores the surrogacy thoughts I've been having recently. Should you be ethically willing or legally able to compel another woman to risk death at worst and major lifetime health consequences at best just so you can have a child that is biologically related to you?
Here’s an article about it.
She died of an amniotic fluid embolism, which is rare but very deadly.
This post gives another example of a surrogate dying and includes this disturbing information:
An article online incorrectly states “the risks of being a surrogate mother are the same as for every pregnancy.” This is not true. Recent studies have shown that surrogate pregnancies are different and are high-risk. Studies show that women pregnant with donor eggs (as in gestational surrogacy) have a more than three-fold risk of developing pregnancy induced hypertension and pre-eclampsia.
W/ the greater risk of hypertension/pre-eclampsia, why? Or rather, is it known why?
Because in a normal pregnancy the baby is >50% related to the mother. In surrogacy, an unrelated egg is used, which means entirely foreign biological material in the woman's body.
Pregnancy is basically a 9 month-long battle between the woman and the embryo; a "healthy" full-term pregnancy can only happen if, essentially, the women's body doesn't realize that the embryo is there, because if it does it will attack it with the woman's immune system as a "foreign body." This is the main reason the placenta exists, to shield the embryo from the woman's immune system (along with nutrient absorption obviously).
The closer the embryo is to the woman, the less likely an immune response will be triggered; this applies to gestational surrogacy, but also relates to things like the sex of the embryo and the embryo's blood type. So, the more genetically different an embryo is from its mother, the higher the overall risk of triggering an immune response, which then increases the likelihood of a smorgasbord of complications given the strain that an immune response causes both the mother and the embryo.
this is just personal observation, but all the people I know who had surrogates (which is only 3 so who really knows), their babies are so so sick all the time. Like months premature, weeks in NICU, multiple hospital stays in infancy, now constantly sick as toddlers, can’t keep weight on, lowest percentiles of height / weight, etc etc. Literally every one of them.
and maybe it’s just a coincidence but maybe you aren’t supposed to implant your eggs in another woman and assume her body will grow a healthy baby for you? not to even talk about what it does to an infant to be forcibly removed from their mother at birth….
This should be obvious to anyone who knows anything about pregnancy/women's healthcare. But because even doctors seem to think that pregnancy is when a woman just incubates a man's offspring for a few months, providing nothing but a chamber in which the baby can grow, they treat it as if it makes no difference where the embryo came from.
Surrogacy is this horrible intersection between modern medicine + capitalism and an almost medieval understanding of pregnancy. Worst of both worlds.
it's not only surrogacy. i meet a lot of kids who are the products of IVF, and the allergies, the immune issues, the eye issues, they are many. I wonder about embryos who have been frozen and thawed. surely that affects the human being? who went through that?
I got the Mexico's uniform.
Yey!!
Remember that ACLU supports men like these and think about how misogy is pretty much istitutionalized
An inmate in Indiana serving a life sentence for killing an infant has launched a federal lawsuit demanding taxpayer-funded transsexual surg
in 2015 we didn’t have AI psychosis so people had to make do by believing a dress was white and gold
Because it was
Is the gold in the room with us right now?
yes. the dress is gold.
...
the dress has always been gold
r u saying this doesn't look white and gold to u???
...
what.
it's a white and gold dress in cool blue dim lighting w/ bright warm light behind it, making an optical illusion. we're not fucking doing this again
oh god fucking damn it
I know tumblr likes to exclusively make it about bloody hospitals but this is what Color Theory is about
HOW DID THIS DISCOURSE COME BACK IN THE YEAR OF OUR LORD 2026!???
when I tell you people were shouting up and down my dorm's hallways about this when it first happened
(the dress was by Roman Originals and it was in fact blue and black. but they made a one-off white and gold one for charity later)
it still looks wrong and fake in that gif to me
so i screenshot and took a chunk from the shaded part on the left and the shaded part on the right
fuck me i hate this
Yeah, so white and gold in shadow looks the same as blue and black in bright light. Which one you see it as is from how you interpret the photo. Take the colours out of context, the white/blue is blue-gray, and the black/gold is a dull dark gold, so offers no answer.
I find it hilarious that the person who tried to prove it was was blue and black did so by taking the colours out of context, because at that point the black is objectively not black, as shown by the fact they could put black text on it that is still readable. That was never going to work by itself. You can know a leaf is green, but if you take a photo of it in a red sunset, upload it, and take the colour out of context, you will get gold, maybe brown. You will not get green.
But, at the end, the ones who figured out the dress was black and blue were in the right.
Saw Americans and EUropeans fighting over what's the better way to operate a bus and the best way to ask for the stop (button? rope?) and I feel like the Facebook boomer. Baby you yell at the top of your lungs at the driver for your stop and then fight people around you to let you out. That is the correct way. Don't you snowflakes love community?......
people themselves say they cant order coffee or a hamburger, Im afraid they won't be getting off at any stop they need, but go to the depo with the driver at the end of the day
I used to politely go stand next to the door, by the driver, right before my stop. :P That usually worked, instead of shouting from the back, which I dread to do.
If I'm getting off in the front or the back the bus is doesn't matter. I'm yelling either way to thank the driver when I leave.
(Canada here) Yeah, I'm hitting the button/pulling the cord like a normal person and then thanking the bus driver when I get off. To yell for your stop instead of hitting the button that's right there would be considered very rude and also probably ignored. You only yell when you're at the back or middle and the bus driver isn't paying attention and tries to drive away without letting you off.
ding/rope, fight my way to stand by the driver if possible, tyvmhagd
It's good to see that across countries, some things don't change.
😞
Sorry not sorry, but I hope terf island wins the World Cup.
If Mexico were to lose, then it should be against First Place.
q*eer tumblr is batshit omfg 12.6k notes... you lot need a real hobby or a real problem or maybe both idc you cannot seriously say "gender is when hat" and have "early 30s" in your bio riiiiiiiight. and then "i am disappointment when social interaction does not cater to my desired level of quirky" you sound insufferable + you are not entitled to this extreme level of tiptoeing around your dumbass identity + why do you need people to roll some kind of she/her/they/it/xe/zim mental dice to feel validated, why is your identity so fragile, why do you think conversation means catering to these whims? i'm not even gonna say touch grass, maybe just stub your toe or peel an orange or something
"I take my hat on and off to make my friend change the words she uses for me, it's so ✨️ gender euphoria ✨️ "
What you are feeling is a rush over having exerted control over a person
Deeply fucked up individual.
i've said this, but i think it bears repeating that much of the discourse surrounding supergirl feels like the reheated seven year old leftovers from captain marvel. the level of vitriol directed at this movie, and the utter joy at its underperformance indicates, to me, that we are not as interested in discussing its artistic merits as much as we are invested in discussing symbols far removed from the content they supposedly symbolize.
gamergate did irreparable damage to geek/nerd culture and it will take decades to undo it. this movie is average and absolutely fine, a little clumsy and disjointed at its absolute worst, and yet we're having to discuss whether the dcu is "over before it starts" because thirty-year-old men have so closely tied their identity to media for kids that they decided that any attempt to include women in a protagonistic capacity constitutes an attack on them. marvel had its hiccups and duds in its early stages, and this meant very little about the capacity of men to lead franchises, but it is our obligation to tie every movie made about any minority ever and its success to the ability of that community to make compelling and interesting art. like what are we doing here
