I cannot believe that despite ALttP being both my first Zelda game and favorite 2D Zelda game, (Majora's Mask is my favorite in general) I had no idea that there was a portrait of Mario in a house in Kakariko Village. It's actually really strange, since I know I've been in that house before. Then again, maybe I just couldn't tell because of graphical limitations or something. Or, the far more likely answer, I'm just blind. Either way, in my most recent playthrough of ALttP, I was searching for any possible detail. My obsession with uncovering the secrets of Wisdomverse (by @linderosse check the comic out) had caused me to be far, far more observant than before. You never know what random detail Lin will pull from next to explain some random headcanon or theory she has. Anyway, I bring Wisdomverse up because Wis has interesting rules when it comes to crossover games like Super Smash Bros. Basically, in Wis, all crossover games are just a dream. Or maybe they're separate worlds accessed by dreams. I don't really know. It's one of Lin's theories which I actually like. There's a fair bit of evidence that I've found for it while just playing Nintendo games. (Like Koholint Island, the world of Subcon, (Which IS a real place and not just a dream, apparently) the fact that you can find Link sleeping in a bed in an inn as a cameo in Super Mario RPG, et cetera.) There is still evidence against it, of course. Like the whole trophy thing in Smash, for instance. But just like many Wisdomverse theories, that detail is tacitly ignored. Either way, it's just how it works in Wis so it doesn't matter how much sense it makes or how many details it conflicts with. So because of Wis dream rules, it explains why there's a random portrait of Mario in a random house. It also explains the portraits in Ocarina's Hyrule Castle and the Happy Mask Salesman's Mario mask. ...You know, I just realized I could've simply written that last part about explaining the Mario references and left it at that. But noooooo. I had to go on a long winded monologue again. Anyway, that's all I got here today.
