Lady Ñuñuu Dzico-Yecu (”6-Monkey War Quexquemitl”), Mixtec princess of Añute and later queen of the Añute-Huachino alliance. Born in 1073 CE, she played a mayor role in shaping the political landscape and the power structures of the Mixteca. Died sacrificed by her enemies in 1100 CE (her son would avenge her years later though).

I PREMIO FOTOGRAFÍA EXPERIMENTAL Y CONSTRUÍDA -  Fotografías realizadas en la mixteca de Oaxaca, una de las zonas más golpeadas por la migración a nivel nacional. Esta dinámica social ha fracturado a las familias de la zona, dejándolos en el abandono de algún ser querido, las imágenes están realizadas en las casas que construyen los migrantes, sus familiares, y la proyección del migrante. Proyectar el retrato del migrante en el espacio en el que habitó es regresarle por un momento una añeja relación con los que han quedado y con el hogar que ha permanecido atrás, pero al mismo tiempo la imagen proyectada no puede separarse de su inmaterialidad construida a base de luz, esa inmaterialidad que viven también las personas que han partido. El juntar en una imagen el hogar abandonado, la familia que se ha quedado atrás y la proyección de un migrante que ha partido es un ejercicio de melancolía, un deseo por reconstruir las viejas relaciones, habitar nuevamente lo que se ha deshabitado, cancelar la espera del regreso por unos instantes.

oolie... what are your thoughts on sweeney todd... would you ever draw any of the characters........

Known it for like half a month but i LOVE it. such a rewatchable/relistenable, dramatic, funny, and entertaining story it is. each day i've had a different song on repeat. going through different album versions and watching different performances back to back. its hard to get tired of it when you see it 10 different ways. i could go on by how i love each song individually. i wont. but i could.

i really love sweeney and lovett but i think lovett takes it as my absolute. she has some of my most favorite lines of the whole show. (i'm your friend too mr todd.." "i'd be twice the wife she was... could that thing have cared for you like me?") she's so conniving and obsessive yet so flippant and entertaining. that doesn't make sweeney any less great though. His whole journey and obsession with revenge and nothing else except the longing for his wife(old life) is so interesting. which is the whole ass point of the musical but its the point for a reason!! ha

i So have been wanting to draw them. it's just that the characters have no strictly 'canon' look so it's been difficult to have to decide how they should look haha. stuff like: should lovett be ginger or blonde... how should i draw her hair.. should sweeney look more gaunt or full.. should this demon barber have facial hair or not.. don't get me wrong i do like their movie looks. but they're soo soo campy. almost overly so. it makes me feel silly to exclusively draw from them specifically. i really like sweeneys outfit and white streak from the movie but to just draw johnny depp just, again, makes me feel silly.

i suppose lovett has a certain look in my head. but sweeney could look like almost anything and anyone. which i suppose fits thematically since anybody could be a "sweeney todd"

i would sort of like to post about sweeney todd but i dont think theres much of a following on tumblr for it. which shouldn't matter but like.. eh.. haha. i'm also afraid of posting about it and people going "oh of COURSE you'd like that aspect." especially in context to sweeney, lovett and you know. i dont think it's good for my moral to post another man woman and child trio hahaha. much less just another hetero couple. that doesn't mean i'll never make anything for it though.
